BPM tape #53 by Dr Packer

This week's special guests are Twin Sun, aka Jamie Willcox & Pete Wheeler. They formed in 2015 at Glastonbury Festival after an overexcited conversation escalated into them becoming a fully fledged production and songwriting duo.

  Early live sets saw Twin Sun perform as main support act to Maribou State, Bondax and Drop Out Orchestra before taking to festival stages with a full band (including Alex Woodward from Black Honey on drums and Jennifer Stearnes from Saltwater Sun on vocals) at Glastonbury, Penn Fest, Are You Listening? and Readipop Festival. 

 Twin Sun’s edits have received support from Greg Wilson, who included them in his Top 10 edits of 2016 & Fleetmac Wood, who have invited the duo to DJ alongside them at Fabric, Printworks, Troxy, XOYO and Glastonbury over the years since they formed. 

 Radio support for Twin Sun’s original songs include Huw Stephens (Radio 1), John Kennedy (X-Posure, Radio X), Amazing Radio (A-Playlist), Richard Latto (BBC Local Radio) & BBC Introducing Berkshire.

  2021 saw Twin Sun release a series of well received tracks and edits via Midnight Riot, Discoholics Anonymous, Too Slow To Disco and Hot Digits as well as an official remixes for disco legends Odyssey and one of their biggest influences, Drop Out Orchestra.
DJ bookings for the duo have also seen them join the likes of Norman 
Jay, Erol Alkan, Crazy P and many more on the Summer line-up of Between The Bridges on London South Bank, playing Wilderness Festival 2021 and alongside Craig Charles, Utah Saints, Natasha Kitty Katt and more in their hometown of Reading.

  As we enter 2022, the duo remain busy preparing more music and future releases, kicking off with an EP on Discoholics Anonymous this spring.

A bit of my set warming up for the fantastic Daft Punk tribute act Digital Love in the cavernous E1 a few weeks back.

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Spa In Disco and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at festivals, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.


Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House
