@hifi-sean has been busy reinventing Fire Islands classic rework of 'Shout To The Top' which featured none other than disco diva Loleatta Holloway on lead vocal.

Reworking from scratch with nothing other than the vocal to work around he has turned this into one of the most hyped records of 2021. A gospel vocal screamer which will send many a dancefloor off it’s hinges in the coming months it lands on the 5th April on vinyl. 

Featuring three distinct versions our premier today is the beat free reprise which has Loleatta's incredible vocal performance front and centre backed by orchestral strings and those hands in the air keys. Perfect for those big set openings.

For the fourth instalment of our Black Light Disco series we have Liverpool based disco-monger and BLD resident, Mr Nick Gartland! Nick’s first foray on the turntables was as a 12 year old at a local youth club playing the likes of ‘Yazz’ – The Only Way Is Up’ and Jellybean – ‘Jingo’ on a ‘Dave – Double Deck’.  Fast forward to his 30s and Nick was promoting his own night in Liverpool - Luna -  which showcased an abundance of local talent and some of the most in-demand DJs and producers of the time.

Nick’s sets are always brimming with soul, funk, disco and re-edits and are heavily influenced by his other true love - 80s music.

On the Black Light Disco Show which aired on www.myhouseradio.fm on Monday 9th March 2020, we decided it to take the tempo up with Esteban (Ste Hendry) on hosting duties for the first hour followed by a very, very special guest mix from the one and only... Dave Hudson! 

Dave's monthly residency with Spin City recently (sadly) came to an end, but we weren't going to let him get away that easily and jumped at the chance to ask Dave to return to the MyHouse Radio airwaves on our Monday night show. We've been huge fans of Dave for a good while - his track selections, curation, structure, transitions and overall vibe are always bang on point. Dave's versatility shines through in all his sets - he can effortlessly move from banging basslines to synth heavy grooves, bongo-tasctic beats to string-laden disco melodies which blaze a trail in a way only a very select few DJs can achieve.

The Black Light Disco Show which aired on www.myhouseradio.fm on Monday 16th March 2020 is here for your listening pleasure during these difficult and worrying times. Kicking things off we had BLD's Dynamic Duo, Pookie Knights, providing an hour of fizzing, pulsating doses of 'high impact' disco treatment which will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The lads never let us down and have their own unique style of presenting their shows, which adds so much to the variety and diversity of what we do. 

On guest mix duties for this one is a very good friend of BLD, an über talented DJ and an all round kind, virtuous and decent soul, Neil Craven. 

Hailing from Liverpool (the birthplace of Black Light Disco events), Neil has been one of the most active DJs on the North West scene for a number of years and continues his monthly residency at 'Your Disco Needs You' at the Carlton Club in Manchester. Neil has promised us he will play at a future BLD event and we're gonna get that in writing from him! Although Neil has a diverse taste in music, which ranges from Progressive House to Soulful House and Techno, we think his true calling is in the world of disco and edits.

Black Light Disco 16th Mar 2020 - Pookie Knights & Neil Craven

Straight from our Inspiration Isolation Station, we have for your aural pleasure the Black Light Disco Show which aired on NYC's www.myhouseradio.fm on Monday 30th March 2020. Following last week's smooth, downtempo vibe we decided to crank it up a couple of notches, with BLD residents Esteban and Nick Gartland creating an electric two hours of heavyweight disco bombs.

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.
