I love to share Soul, Funk and Disco and a whole lot more. I have been heavily into rare grooves of the R&B variety since the early 2000's enjoying the club scene in Leeds Northern England where I essentially grew up. I love it all from Northern Soul to rare disco...if its uplifting funky and danceable I'm all over it!
I got my first turntables in 2013 living in Northern BC and have been enjoying playing Serato vinyl whenever I get the chance!
Moved to Rossland in 2016 and have really been enjoying the vibrant dj scene here. In 2020 transitioned to playing boutique events around the kootenays and recorded a monthly radio show Regen Rhythms for https://www.iamsoundacademy.com and Kootenay Coop radio.

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.

YuJin (Singapore)

YuJin has been playing behind the decks in some of Singapore’s uber clubs for more than two decades now, yet he remains a devoted student as he eagerly scouts for new sounds that run the gamut of jazz to funk, soul, disco, afro-beats to house and techno. Indeed, YuJin’s versatility as a DJ is as varied as the genre he first took root in and signed up for as a 17-year-old in 1996

First initiated into the Body & Soul sound with DJs like Masters at Work, Joe Claussell and Danny Krivit and labels such as Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Salted Music, Ovum and many other labels. YuJin flew the house music flag with his residencies at Lava Lounge, Lush, Hu’u Bar and Club Eden – all by age 20. By then, he had amassed a following that danced nights away to the sexy, percussive-laced and vocal house grooves.

Shortly after, YuJin landed his biggest residency at Centro, where he supported international acts such as Roger Sanchez, Danny Rampling, Jesse Saunders, Joeski, Onionz, Mateo & Matos among others. 

He has also graced venues such as Zouk, Phuture, Canvas, kyō (SG & KL), Sweatbox (KL), Woobar (SG & HK), Ce La Vi (SG), Republic Bar, Basement (HK), Oasis Terrace, (HK), 1880, Straits Clan, Mandala Club, Potato Head (SG), The Bar at 15 Stamford, Kilo Lounge, Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, Kilo Kitchen, Super Loco, Lucha Loco, Artemis, Bar Rouge, The Monarchy, Beerfest Asia, Nineteen80, W Hotel - Endless Summer Party, W Hotel -  NYE Party, Tanjong Paradisco – 10th Anniversary, Perfect 10 NYE Countdown Party, WOMAD and more.

In recent years, YuJin opened for heavyweights such as Franky Rizardo, Felix Da Housecat, Breach, Steve Bug, Simon Dunmore, Alan Dixon, Ray Mang and many other international artists. He also held a residency at the popular underground club, kyō. His style has since evolved to an edgier, funkier sound of house & disco music today, incorporating percussive elements while staying soulful, uplifting and groovy. 

A veteran whom has remained pretty much under the radar profile, YuJin is also a familiar face behind the decks at Ce La Vi, Republic Bar and Tanjong Beach Club showcasing music from soul, funk, disco to house. His recent high profile gig includes Standon Calling Festival in London. 

With music as a true breathing expression of his inner self and soul, YuJin believes in staying true to who he is and staying focused on constantly developing or recreating his sound. Rather than imitating any other, YuJin’s dedication to his craft throughout the years has found authentic expression in his refreshing and inimitable groove, one that is truly his as a DJ.
