Another dream became true for me: I got the chance to do a cover version of the 72s classic song from Timmy Thomas. It`ll be out on june 15th 2015 on d:vision records. Feel free to leave some comments!

Hailing from Göttingen, Timo is a mainstay in the German underground party circuit thanks to an endless list of re-edits, including his rework for the timeless ‘Pearls’ by Sade officially released on Get Physical’s sublabel Poesie Musik and flying through the Beatport charts earlier this year.
His love for soul singers is nothing new, so it’s no surprise that his latest release come in the form of a deluxe makeover of the 1972 Timmy Thomas masterpiece ‘Why Can’t We Live Together’.
Completely reimagined from top to bottom, this light and modern rendition beautifully lead the tune into pure atmospheric deep house territory that fits perfectly with the sultry and melancholic vocals which simply oozes passion. Exceptional from start to finish.

About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves. 
I said of course, and asked him what track. 
Turns out its a big favourite of mine also.
'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972.
The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful.
I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love.
I hope you share the message and enjoy.

Everything Counts was born as a musical project in 2018, bringing together two artists Teodora (Toshka) and Chris.
Both with a different background, they found themselves merging their vast musical knowledge into creating music of particular sonorities, mixing electronic sounds with ethnic references, thus proposing to the listener scenes rich in emotions. Thanks to their multiculturalism and desire to experiment new ideas they have joined forces and in the summer of 2018 they came out with their first album: Bedouin, on the German label 3000 grad.
Later they released new productions on Cosmic Awakenings and the next releases will be on the Lump Rec,Sudam, Radaint and Pipe & Pochet.
In the winter months two other major releases were confirmed.

I have waited so long for this and now my dream has become true: Sade herself and Sony UK finally gave their okay to my secret edit so it is out now as an official Sade release on Get Physical // Poesie Musik and hits the stores on jan 16th 2015.

Poesie Musik has the very special honor to announce the release of a remix of a song known the world over, authored by no less than Sade. One of the prolific singer's most well-known creations, ‚Pearls‘ is given a deluxe makeover by German dance floor mainstay Timo Jahns, whose moody, melancholy personal sound fits perfectly with the sultry vocals on one of the crooner's most moving songs. 

Hailing from Göttingen, Timo Jahns has carved out a name for himself on the German party circuit thanks in part to an endless list of edited music and remixes on labels like Ponsactrilau, Underyourskin Records, Neverending, Cometomusic, Klang Gymnastik and 9Volt, as well as his own imprint FREUNDCHEN RECORDS, created for an intimate circle of few. 

This latest foray into the reworking of certain melodic masterpieces comes after Timo’s remixes of music by the likes of songstress Melody Gardot and Bon Iver just last year. For this special rendition of ‚Pearls‘, the producer has carefully lead the tune into deep-house terrains and turned it into a track just begging for summer afternoons and thoughtful chill-out sessions.

Combining field recordings from all over the world with vintage synthesizers, Dan Bay delivers the 14th EP on Heimlich Musik, complete with four original mixes and remixes by Oberst & Buchner, Le Rubrique, Spaniol, and kalupke.

All original mixes are based on organic instrument recordings and a variety of percussion sounds. Adding melancholic synthesizer lines and classic drum machine samples, Dan Bay transforms original ideas into versatile dance music.

Remixing „One Night in Kerala“, Heimlich’s very own Oberst & Buchner give their energetic interpretation a subtle 80s touch, while Spaniol’s approach is taking the original on a hypnotic trip with a focus on the epic main theme recorded by guitarist Max Clouth.

Le Rubrique’s treatment of „Phishing Wales“ comes as a stripped-down version of the original with deep Dub Techno elements creating an ecstatic atmosphere, and Cologne-based Duo kalupke is rounding up the EP perfectly with their unique relaxed and dreamy style.

we are so proud to present to you our very first LP! At the same time it is the debut album of TRANSIENT LINES. The Vienna based producer has a unique style which is hard to describe because of the variability in his different tracks. The combination of rather dark spheric elements with driving beats could be a rough description of his music. The release consists of 8 original tracks and 3 remixes by Oberst & Buchner, Deep Ändi and Musin plus a feature with the singer Nono (Veronika Sterrer).

Max Lanzinger - The person behind TRANSIENT LINES - decided to donate the profits of his ASETELMA LP to „Flüchtlingsprojekt Ute Bock“. The Austrian organisation is engaged in refugee aid. They supply accommodations, run an educational centre and have several projects like social counselling or a post- and registration service. The dream of the founder Ute Bock was that the project would become superfluous some day because it should be obvious to help people in need. https://www.fraubock.at

Spend some time alone.

We've all been spending a lot of time alone these days haven't we?  Having to be apart from our friends and even families, for so long.  This alone time has been good for some, but each week it seems like the world takes a new and dark turn.   I wrote this edit right when this whole quarantine hit. I thought to myself, this will be the perfect tune for everyone needing a bit of uplifting energy... and to add a bit of joy to everyone's solitary confinement. Yet, each week I thought to release it,  there would be something in the world that would pop up, and each week it never felt like the right time....

One after another, from covid19 to police brutalities, peaceful protests ending in violence, burning cities,  tear gassing citizens, so much death and destruction live streamed for the world, and we are all glued to it. This snowball seems to keep on going....and this road ahead doesn't seem bright now.....But I have hope.

I spent a lot of time dancing to this edit alone in my basement. and it made me smile. I hope it brings a little smile to your face, and you find yourself dancing alone, maybe in your basement, your kitchen, on a jog, with your dog.  Let me know if you do! Thanks for listening, and thanks to the Heimlich hooligans for letting me release it with them. I hope we can all dance together very soon.

Irgendwann klopft es ans Fenster. Es ist Kapitän Planets Onkel Captain Planet. Er hat uns zwar das eine oder andere Mal im Stich gelassen, aber Schwamm drüber - er darf eintreten. Ach und das Grottenolmküken und den Dunstgraf hat er auch im Schlepptau. Gut. Dann ziehen wohl alle mal wieder kräftig an seiner Pfeife. Diesmal schlafen wir ohne Erdbeerquark und Gute Nacht Tee ein - ganz ganz tief.

Yeah, I sent down a Sade rabbit hole. Named after what I thought the lyrics were when I was a kid! New drums, percs, bass, instruments, FX and arrangement. Hope this stays up!

Sha'Day - Zoob Umbrella (Pete Le Freq Refreq)

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.
