At the end of the description for yesterday's posted track, I hinted that the title of that track should have been a diva gospel house track.  And, being the mischievous imp that I can be (though some might choose "troll" as a better description), I thought that I should make that happen...and that THIS day's track should be a diva gospel house track titled "This is ALSO My Church."  

It isn't...obviously.  But, I did start work on it...and I liked what I came up with enough to not rush it, just for the giggles.  Expect to see a diva house track from Interbay at some point soon.  

Today's track might be as far from a diva house track without being an atonal No Wave piece.  "Quarrel" was my attempt to craft a tom tom heavy darkwave track--think The Cure (Pornography era) or Siouxsie & The Banshees.  

I wouldn't call it goth, though--maybe pieces of goth, but there are also some icicle Simple Minds-like synths that aren't all that gothy.  (And the fact that I just used the word "gothy" should clue you in to the fact that I lack the sincerity to really pull "goth" off...)  

It became a bit of a monster that I lost control of...at one point, I thought I was done with this--and it was about three and a half minutes long.  

It isn't...obviously.  It's an Interbay track, and despite a couple of fairly "simple" tracks the past two days, any chance I get to fill in all of the empty spaces on the canvas, I tend to take.      

Is it long?  Yes.  Is it busy?  Yes.  Is it noisy?  Good heavens, yes.  

But, if you're willing to join me on this journey, I think--in a "would you get into a boat with Willy Wonka?" sort of way--I think you'll have quite the time with "Quarrel."  (Especially if you consider this to be me channeling my inner Jim Steinman in the production/arrangement.)

I think my biggest concern with this track is--you can't really buy a royalty-free sample pack featuring vocals in the style of Siouxsie Sioux, Robert Smith, Andrew Eldritch, etc.  

I did what I could with what I have access to...but I don't think I'll truly get my darkwave/post-punk tracks quite right until I start putting my own vocals on songs--something I continue to promise to do soon.  (Not saying my vocals could be compared to Siouxsie or Robert or other post-punk singers--but at least I can pick and choose how to express the emotions I'm trying to get across.)    

I haven't done a proper post-punk track in awhile, so that made choosing today's posted track a bit easier.  However, you can likely expect some dance-oriented stuff escaping the Labs soon!
