Some time ago I discovered Belgian poet and pianist John Joos through Instagram. He writes beautiful short poems in French. Two of them stood out to me in particular:

"Il y a des rêves qui ne se réaliseront probablement jamais mais dont la beauté a changé pour toujours celles et ceux qui les ont portés en eux."

English translation:
"There are dreams that will probably never come true but whose beauty has forever changed those who carried them within them."

and

"J'ai probablement vécu mille vies dont cell-ci où je suis né pour te dire 'Je t'aime'."

English translation:
"I've probably lived a thousand lives including this where I was born to tell you 'I love you."

Both poems made me think of some of the dreams I had at the time, and I used to think it was the end of the world if they didn't come true. But reading these two poems made me change my perspective a bit. It made me realise that I could still have those dreams even if they didn't come true and that I could still see the beauty of those dreams.

This Dream Inside My Heart

Sometimes you just feel like nothing is going right. And then you meet a kind soul who gives you strength. Sometimes it's just a smile or a few kind words. It could be your best friend, an acquaintance, or a total stranger. When I was in such a situation, I imagined this place - Café Of The Lost Dreams (And The New Horizons), which had a special menu: A coffee of hope, a chocolate of faith, a biscuit of strength, and a cake of luck. And I imagined a woman - the owner of the place - who had this kind of mysterious aura, somewhere between a good witch, an angel or maybe a fairy. She doesn't offer a solution, but through her kindness, she helps me to go on and find my own way.

I wrote it in 2015 when I was feeling pretty lost. And I often find comfort in food, and it's just nice when someone offers you a coffee, a piece of chocolate, a biscuit or a piece of cake to make you feel better. And you gain hope and faith and strength, perhaps not so much from the food itself, but from the act of kindness. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being kind to yourself ;-)

They are DJ's, producers and above all, a family of folks that have made a stance, putting real people, real followers and real music at the forefront of the modern music promotional platforms.
Since I uploaded my first track over 9 months ago: Blue Tack Girl (B.T.G.) has offered kind words & encouragement, re-posted, shared & recommended my tracks & put some amazing music, DJ mixes and producers into my world :) ..................
Her realism, honesty and the ideology of the whole Blue Tack Family inspired this track. 
B.T.G. made the artwork which I love.

"Share their secrets...and be quick about it."  

This track wasn't originally going to be about Bletchley Park, or the heroic mathematical efforts to solve the enigma of Enigma, the unbreakable code machine...that was broken...helping the Allies win the war.  (Well, A war at least...not ALL wars.)  

No, my original goal was to make a glitch track using a chopped up movie snippet sample.  (The sample is pretty meme-famous, and you might guess it before the one time it plays clearly in the track.  You could earn some bonus Interbay points if you guess the source of the sample before you hear it clearly.)  

I got to thinking about the inherent confusion that comes in chopping up recognizable sounds, especially words, and then rearranging those parts and stitching them back together.  What results is something meaningless, but, because our human brains loves patterns...even when there aren't any patterns, we can sometimes feel like we're just on the verge of understanding.  

...and that, somehow, is how I ended up at Bletchley Park--the place where Alan Turing and the rest of the Bletchley Circle did what was thought to be impossible--to break the Enigma code.  

For a change though, I didn't add any samples from the many films or television shows based on the Enigma cracking team (the most notable, probably, being The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Turing...though, I am particularly fond of Enigma, from 2001--a more clearly fictionalized tale to increase the melodrama.  I guess I just find Kate Winslet more attractive than Benedict Cumberbatch.  (No offense, Benedict...but...you're no Kate Winslet.)  

For the music of this track, incorporating my original "glitch track" idea, I centered the whole thing around a jackhammer drum sound--very reminiscent of late 80s/early 90s dance industrial music...with touches of electro and breakbeat.  The synth sounds I used were harsh--almost like klaxon horns at times, like swirly swoopy bells in others, overdriven acid-style basslines lead into thick stuttery synth bass and back again.  And always, the glitchy incomprehensible movie snippet...  

It can be a rather maddening listen, if you're not up for that particular adventure--as sounds move around the width of the stereo spectrum (especially the drums--as I put on an "energy panner"--that will move the sound based on the "energy" of any particular part of the track.  It should feel a bit disorienting, unstable, and, possibly, unsettling.  (Especially in a "noise" solo break or the dual sided screech build.)  

The words are mine...though, again, the vocals are in spoken word form, from a text to speech program...and then those are chopped up and stitched back together as well, though, this time for clarity's sake.  

So, if you're looking for something with a bit of an edge to it...but still inherently listenable, this might be a good shout for you.  I mean, in the end, it is still VERY Interbay, isn't it?
