Music producer (and serum preset purveyor) Sam Smeyers put an accapella out there for free, for promo use only.  (Which was perfect for Interbay, because--so far--we're still a ways out from being justified in trying to monetize this daily barrage of mutant pop.)  

I did a version of this track way back when I was still posting tracks (with self-made videos, no less) over on Facebook...but it stayed in the vault when I switched over to posting tracks here on SoundCloud.  

My reasoning was simple--it was, at the time, just a house track with an acapella layered over it.  Wasn't sure I could call it an Interbay track and I didn't know if what I'd done to it was "promo only".  

It sat in The Vault for quite awhile, though I never forgot it.  I'd take it out and listen to it and consider whether or not I could "get a way with" posting it...and then I'd put it back in The Vault because I didn't know.  

Earlier this year, I thought--well, you do some sneeaky stuff sometimes with samples...so, make it less obvious what it is and you could always beg forgiveness if it causes a problem.  I made the vocals unrecognizable, I chopped up what was a fairly simple and straight forward track, I added some live played keys...and I made something that might be added to the b-side of a 12" single as a "dub" or "alternate mix."  Thus, "Turn Down The Bootleg" became the title.  

...only, I didn't feel good about my plan.  I'm tired of people begging for forgiveness when it didn't take all that much to get permission (is this a political opinion?  Hmmmm...) and I'm making music pretty consistently, so if permission isn't granted...it can get locked into The Vault and Interbay could move on.  

So, I wrote Sam last night.  (And, if you've read these descriptions, you can imagine how long and overstuffed that email was.)  And, remarkably quickly, Sam wrote back and told me that I had his permission to share the track here on Facebook.  

You're the man, Sam.  And thank you.
