SOLAR MOON “Mwezi”

The title of this, the first single taken off the next (and fourth) Solar Moon longplayer “Redbook”, couldn’t be any more fitting: “Mwezi” is Swahili for “Moon”.

And while the “Redbook” album, just like its three predecessors, is mainly & carefully curated from undusted & refurbished top studio shelve material amassed during now 27 years of band history, “Mwezi” is a brand new song, composed & produced between the band members only this spring.

With the basic loops provided by George Solar from the white island of Ibiza and the dreamy yet super catchy vocals (plus basic drums & bass) recorded in Uganda by Razoof, it took just one final session at Tom Dams’ Studio Forstmehren  (located deep within the german countryside) to finalize this little big ode to the pale planet in all its glory. With sweet melody carrying a message both clear & simple:

“The Sun rises, I feel great
the moon comes up I feel happiness
because all happiness connects at night let me tell you.”

Embedded in the signature Solar Moon production sound - always highlighting a big calm, ample of precious time & lots of wide open space as per usual - these words become like either a mantra or a lullaby, depending on perspective of course. Solar Moon invites you to feel free to feel free, and you got the full six minutes in order to do so. In case it wouldn’t work the first time, just press repeat.

This time around, Amerigo takes on James Brown in The Big Payback Vol lll. In the third and latest offering from "The Big Payback" summer mix series, the producer follows the exceptionally awesome first and second volumes from the legendary DJ Scratch and master craftsman, J. Period.  

Bringing together a fantasy league of all-stars for his "J.B. and The Soul Mates" tribute concept, the producer's latest offers an alternative to the sometimes uninspired, profit-driven, posthumously released albums. 

With guest appearances from Bob Marley, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Fela Kuti, The Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, and more, Amerigo pays tribute to the God Father of Soul with a re-imagined set of co-conspirators.

"I'm not sure any other artist has left their imprint on popular music, especially across so many genres, as much as James Brown has.  With as many of today's hit songs that were built around some sort of James Brown flip, it's almost like he had a say in what the music of future generations would sound like without even knowing it."

Rikky Disco are an eccentric Swedish disco consisting of Chris Tall and Fanacy.

Based in Stockholm, Rikky Disco's music is influenced by disco legends like Donna Summer, Cerrone, The Jones Girls, First Choice and of course ABBA. Together, they make modern orchestral disco songs; fusing cutting edge Nu-Disco sounds with a touch of the 70's glamour.

Chris Tall is a producer & keyboardist, with a great interest in orchestral compositions. His skill as a writer is evident in L.O.V.E. (Love Is Basic) with his beautiful string arrangements, vibrant piano and bouncy bass.

Vocalist Fanacy is an originally trained in classical singing, and later ventured towards DJing and production, experienced in writing hit melodies for jazz, pop and disco. Her vocals shine on both tracks, particularly the dance floor gem Love Life. Smooth and sultry to get you in the mood for evening antics.

Love Life is given a top quality remix by The Disco Express artist, Hotmood. His new arrangement really brings out the finest qualities in the track. Just listen to that saxophone drop!! The Mexican producer adds latin percussion and throbbing bass to give the track a bump and shuffle; perfect for late night discos.

The Stockholm duo also run their own disco Studio 54 themed club night called “Klubb Rikky Disco” at different venues in Sweden (Berns, Biblioteket, Debaser). We look forward to welcoming them to the UK for their live London debut this Summer.

Canadian native Peter Mac is an innovative music producer who is growing in strength and popularity in the music business. His musical background arises from years of experience as an owner-operator of his independently owned music agency as a promoter and booker for house music DJs and events.

Additionally, Peter attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, which served as a foundation for his musical education and training. In 2020 when Covid erupted, his agency came to a sudden halt. This disruption turned out to be a significant turning point for Peter and this is when he found his light to follow his dream and begin making music of his own.

Admiring his new found career (at 55 years of age), Peter invested in the musical software and hardware so he could quickly get his new profession off the ground. With this anticipation, he was eager to start using his musical imagination and could not wait to get his creative juices flowing in order to start flourishing in his new profession. 

In the learning of how to create and advance as a music producer and dj, Peter found it fun to figure out all the buttons and knobs required in order for him  to develop and progress. With his heart finally in the right place, the music just seemed to flow rather effortlessly and suddenly everything finally fell into place to be able to launch into his new found career.

Time travel to 2023, Peter has already launched his own record label that’s quickly gaining high recognition, called Barking Mad Music. He was swiftly sorted by numerous labels and signed in the first few months of making his own productions.
