Welcome to another edition of DDPS with a flawless Guest mix from the shining star of Coldharbour Recordings, SOLIDSTONE!!!

The Solid Stone project started back in early 2010, behind it Canadian producer Elias Barouche started to make his mark. His very first releases were already supported by likes of Above and Beyond, Markus Schulz to nam a few. After he was settled in with his own sound, it became clear that Solid Stone would be a name to look out for in the near future.

Having almost all of his recent productions championed by Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Max Graham and pretty much all of the Trance elite, Solid Stone is making some real waves over the last six months, showing what a shining light he really is and looks set for a huge future!

We had the honour of touring Roger Martinez in January for a private event and public club show. This is the recording of his public set from a Rooftop in the Melbourne CBD.

Trance inducing DJ-sets, chart topping dance music productions, sound healing meditations, interdisciplinary art-projects and psychedelically infused workshops. Bridging these apparent worlds apart, they all converge in sound artist Roger Martinez.

Roger views a club night or festival as a shamanic ceremony where people gather and have profound experiences through music and dance. During his performances he surrenders himself to creative flow, communicating a unifying experience through the music.

Drawing inspiration from anything between shamanic ceremonies, mountain treks and pop music, his DJ-sets tend to be pan-spectral, transcending genre and style.

A stylistically nomadic producer, his music has found its way onto labels like Lost & Found, Armadillo, Sudbeat, Plattenbank, GEM Records, Tronic.

Why do we tell stories? 

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs. 

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human. 

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun. 

With 'Rebirth', Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists all across the world to bring these themes to life, the seventh and final iteration in this compilation series.

South African star Bruce Loko (Get Physical, Freerange) opens proceedings with the deep, melodious textures of Cyclone, whipping up the ethereal eye of the storm. Chapter 24 regular Kieran Apter is next, making good the tension with the impactful 6.10.21 Break. Such is the power of this track that it propels the listener into new sonic dimensions.

Kostakis (Get Physical, Katermukke) offers up Xerxes, which is equally big and conjures up the dusty, mysterious and impenetrable planes of the desert. Meanwhile, Acumen returns to the imprint in collaboration with Pontias. Shower for Hours is a pumping, techy number bound to get the dancefloor bouncing before opening out into a euphoric peak.

The compilation closes out with a high quality trio. Label favourite KatrinKa delivers the typically deep groove of ABAF. DJ Zombi (Beat Boutique) takes things further down into a dreamy and blissful space with Steph. The honour of closing out the final Seven Stories befalls Hope Recordings and Soundgarden legend Nick Warren and the talented Nicolas Rada, who revisit Anton Dhouran's Valhalla Rising. Their Edition is fittingly deep, transportative and dramatic. 

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away one final time...

For the Techno edition of Yoshitoshi 25, we’ve dug deep into the archives and pulled out the finest tracks that define the darker side of Yoshitoshi’s history. This includes remastered versions of classic tracks like Dish Out Bum’s “Gak Trak” Chiapet’s “Tick Tock,” 2 Smokin’ Barrels’ “Basses Loaded,” and Timeline’s “Clockwork Orange,” as well as modern cuts like Victor Ruiz’s “Rollercoaster,” ANNA’s “Momentum,” Nicole Moudaber’s seminal remix of Alcatraz’s “Give Me Luv”, and Loco & Jam and Frankyeffe’s “Splitting Minds.” To spice things up, we’ve included three brand new remixes from Moonwalk, label regular Olivier Giacomotto, and Dubspeeka. Moonwalk takes on Phil Kieran’s “I Love You,” creating a deep mix that emphasizes the Italian duo’s knack for catchy, earworm synth patterns and hold-your-breath build-ups that deliver in the club. Dubspeeka remixes Sharam’s classic from 2009 “Secret Parkway,” turning the track into a moody late-night warehouse banger complete with spooky synths and gobs of low end. Following up the deep and uplifting Yoshitoshi 25: House compilation, the Techno edition takes you to the other side of the coin and once again demonstrates the label’s diverse history and versatility.
