"Evil Destroyer" from the 1992 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game "Thunder Force IV", composed by Takeshi Yoshida.

This is not from emulation. This was recorded from a genuine Model 1 Sega Genesis console with a VA6 motherboard and modded with RCA jacks. This audio was then amplified by a FiiO E6 and captured by a Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro at 24-bit/96khz through Audacity, then losslessly encoded using FLAC. In other words, it's clean and authentic Sega Genesis hardware sound. All credit for this recording goes to "The Iron Goat".

Hey! Here is my second holiday VGM cover for the season.

Pikmin 2 is one of my all-time favourite games: I love the beautiful and peaceful yet mysterious and dangerous atmosphere of the world. The gameplay is just so interesting and endearing and reflects Miyamoto's typically ingenuity. Plus, what's not to love about the adorable pikmin? I just love the Pikmin series so much, so its nice to finally be covering a song from one of the games. I've been wanting to for quite a while.

This arrangement is quite a departure from my usual style. I was inspired to create this sort of orchestral-hiphop sound after hearing the Nintendoland arrangement of this song. While not quite a hip-hop style beat, it had this neat sounding rhythm that gave the piece a new feeling and sense of energy. I wanted to work with a similar concept, but in a different way.
This style is way out of my comfort zone, so this piece was a bit of an experiment for me. As I've mentioned before, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to making beats. Plus, I had to recreate a lot the melody by ear, as there is not much in terms of midis or sheet music for this song. So, hopefully this turned out okay!

Through the Seventh Gate ~Land of Frost and Frogs~ is the fourth and last track from the <a href="http://soundcloud.com/konec0/sets/7th-gate-project">7th Gate Project</a>.

I really enjoyed pulling the sudden switch from what was essentially house-inspired electronica to orchestral. I've used several more times since, such as in <a href="http://soundcloud.com/konec0/vodka-mutiny">Vodka Mutiny</a> or <a href="http://soundcloud.com/konec0/jackpot-birthday-bash-mix">Jackpot (Birthday Bash Mix)</a>. I'm not personally fond of the idea of pigeonholing songs into genres, so making this song was a real treat for me; I like to think of it as kind of genre-fluid, and that's interesting to me.
