When Aleck suggested 3 potential projects we might tackle recently, the obvious standout in the list was "Sunny". Sunny is the rock/soul classic of the recently passed Bobby Hebb.

Aleck's bold and fresh musical approach  immediately had me excited about the project. As he stated "Even the most advanced players will find something harmonically interesting in this version".
Hopefully, as you listen you may be encouraged to become the "Sunny" in someone's life.

My friend did have an allotment, and we spent hours there as kids, especially on Saturday afternoons.  I remember it as quite a labyrinth of out buildings, and green houses, and of course Pigeon lofts. His father raced pigeons, and I was always amazed how these wonderful birds could find their way back home from places as far away as France, places I could only dream of travelling to at that age. My friends’ father always knew the birds would get home safely, and like an expectant mother, could sense the time when they were due. 


My friend kept Homing pigeons,
And they flew from France and Spain,
All the way to his allotment
Near the top of Scotchman Lane. And we’d sit on Saturday evenings shaking tins of pigeon corn.
We were waiting for those pigeons

I recently saw videos of cities with wild animals entering as if they are at home. The ozone's condition is said to have improved. Some have commented that the sky view from their city apartments seems to be more blue during the slowing of industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. 
A pandemic is not a time for joy, but an optimist maintains hope. The earth's current 'healing' appears to be a silver lining that helps to fuel that hope.

The Only Bird I've Known

I have loved and respected trees all my life, drawing, painting and photographing them through many decades, and now I am learning to carve, which is a beautiful experience.
A couple of months ago while walking in our local park, which is full of mature trees, I sadly saw that they had begun cutting down a big Oak tree (probably 100-150 years old). I heard that it was too near a new adult play area, and then probably diseased. I felt a bit of me being ripped out. It stands at the moment as you see it in the photo, as the Lockdown came, and all activity ceased. 
So much has to change now, and we have to totally understand just how vital things like Trees are. We would struggle to exist without their strong network, above and below!
Duir is the old Celtic Ogham for Oak, much loved and respected by the Celts, as were many trees, giving life to our World, connecting and providing so much.
