Friday the 5th of Nov 7pm UK time for an EXPLOSIVE 3hr first show of many Live Streams to come on a regular basis themed - MOONFACE + DJ MATES.  From here on each show will have a guest DJ to play whatever they feel no boundaries. Show casing what ever style they want.  I warm up for 30 mins then over the the guest who will play for 1.5 hours then i will finish the show for the last hour.  To kick off the show we have BENSUB, a long time music mate going way back to when he was into Hiphop and hated Dance and i was onto Dance and hated Hip Hop. Despite that we became room mates lodging at a friends house and over time our styles influenced each other and when we DJ together we always bounce off each others music.  Someone who has always shown me great music, I know I can always count on Ben to take me somewhere new each time he plays a record to me over the many 25+ years now. Friday the 10th of December 7pm UK time.  Show number 2 with guest spot Mundell.  Please join us for a 3hr journey starting off Deep and Dubby as I warm up for the first 30 mins.  Then hand over the decks to Tommy Mundell for 1.5 hrs where he starts off playing Deep House as he nurses the vibes carefully and selectively throughout his guest slot.  Then back to me to finish off for the last hour. I have always been a fan of Mundell's style.  Somehow he has always stuck to his guns and played a unique kinda deep house.  It's always melodic in some way but never too obvious.  I really hope you like this month’s LIVE STREAM.

Tommy Mundell, now lives in London.  He’s a cool deep thinking funny chap he will make you burst out laughing, usually laughing at himself, then with you.  He will always be on the dance floor heckling at the DJ “Common Thompson” (or whoever is playing).  This is how I met him on the dance floor shouting the loudest at me in his thick Portsmouth accent.  We met in a little exclusive multi room venue around the year 2005. This venue during the week was a VIP sports club, in the middle of the countryside.  I was just about taking over the decks from DJ Tim Cook.  It was the 1st time we had ever met and we clicked straight away.  Then overtime us three became great friends playing at various nights around the South Coast from Westbury to Bognor, London & Portsmouth along with the odd Boat Party thrown in there.  Then we became promoters of an underground night in Portsmouth called “Cartel” booking DJ’s Omid 16B, Adultnapper, Terry Francis plus just a few more.  As we got the venue busy the owner decided he didn’t need us any more and took away the night from us.  We have become great friends over the years.  Tommy often sends me his music to check out and I wish him all the best with his new label he will be starting in 2022.   He’s already asked me to do a remix of one of his latest productions that I liked when he played it to me.   

Next months January show number 3, I hope to pin down Tim Cook AKA Sousk.  He’s one of my best mates now, a great friend, DJ, studio partner.  I know he will go deep underground, techy Techno.  I’m already looking forward to recording that show with him.

SHOW 2 MOONFACE + DJ MATES MUNDELL - Live Stream 10th Dec 21

Friday the 4th of March 8pm UK time.  Show number 3 kicks off 2022 with a very special guest spot, one of my besties, Tim Cook AKA Sousk. We were supposed to record this show in January but then January became February and because of a few reschedules we are now suddenly in March.  

A nearly 3hr live stream where I set the vibes warming up for Sousk.  He takes over with his true to the underground sound playing House and Techno.  Then to hand over the decks back to me to finish off with some more deeper underground House and Techno moving up through the gears as we groove.

Sousk from Portsmouth UK is what I would like to label him as a purist.  He has only ever stuck to his underground sounds and never ventured or strayed away from them over all the years I have known him.  Not one to follow a single trend, in fact he avoids them and often detests them.  He is one of the best Underground Producers i know who consistently releases Banger after Banger.  Supported by some of the best in the industry now featuring on some best labels around.   His latest release is on Rhythm Cult with support from none other than Laurent Garnier.  Along with productions on Science Cult, International DJ Gigolos, Souvenir & Lucidflow.  

Not only a producer but a very cool Dj who has a monthly slot on Bloop London Radio.  When he does get behind the decks you know it's going to be a solid groove with deep underground vibes.  He has a unique style of mixing and will often bang in the next track creating more energy on top of more energy.  Very underrated in my opinion.   We met behind the decks way back and became instant friends like we already knew each other and have remained great friends ever since.  Not only a Dj / Producer but also a record label owner of Wolf Trap Records where you will find a heap of underground releases.  

This Live stream is a solid journey, not for the faint hearted.  If you love raw underground House and Techno please tune in like / share & subscribe as we are building this show like a skyscraper.. Cutting through the masses of music available these days we bring you a journey from the depths of our souls to help you escape this crazy world we live in during these very mentally and physically challenging times.   I have played in many clubs around the world during dark times.  I remember the time my gig got cancelled as i was about to fly to Tbilisi after Russia invaded my wife's home land Georgia back in 2008. When the world did nothing to help them as the forces moved the borders still occupied by Russians to this day.  Or when i played in Moscow the club was evacuated due to a bomb scare in the middle of my set.  The time i played in Tel-Aviv the week after the club was bombed. We have lived with terrorist threats in the UK all my life...  Life must go on and music is great way to escape & connect us all as it has no boundaries or borders, it's truly international.

SHOW 3 MOONFACE + DJ  Mates Sousk - 4th March 2022

Chris Baker AKA Fader AKA Chrissy Xross Fader (FUCT FM) is one of my long-time clubbing buddies from our early days of clubbing, going as far back as the early 90's.   Chris was not always a DJ but he was a huge music fan with an awesome music collection built over the many years he has been into electronic dance music.  We have rented shared houses with other mates along the way, so living under the same roof for so long meant we could have regular evenings / early mornings listening to whatever music inspired us. From now classic albums by Adam Freeland through to Plaid, Luke Vibert, Aphex Twin, Coldcut to most music released on Ninja Tunes too many to mention,  Chris was also my driving companion whilst i was a full time professional DJ.  Who I had insured on my car just so he could share the long drives with me when I played UK gigs. Chris was the only mate that stood by me night after night as many others dropped away from the scene, Chris would often drive me to my warm up monthly slots at the Bedrock nights in London & Brighton.  His DJ name was originally a nickname after we recorded a pretend radio show called FUCT FM late one night.  A mess around radio show where Bensub, Fader and I would find the most "out there" mind expanding electronic music we could find and play it to each other one track at a time and then talk in between and pretend we had our own live shows.  It was often a very messy affair late at night after hours with fake readers writing in letters made up by Chris along with fake Weather, News & fake Chat..  (Just like our Main Stream Media in current times)  Our close friends would be the only ones who would get to hear the show.  Quite a few were recorded over the years some may never see the light of day again for obvious reasons.  

Fast forward to more recent times where technology has allowed DJ Fader to learn how to compile and mix his own sets.  Sending them to me and Ben for us to enjoy.  Faders music selection is often deep, dubby, techy, musical, melodic Bass London vibes.

His live stream is hard to put in a pigeon hole.. It's sort of Drum and Bass but not the obvious stuff that is huge at the moment, often half speed timing. A bit dubsteppy in places most of all its quality underground music.    To complement Faders sound I went more Electro.  I'm not that known for Dj'ing Electro but really it was my first love of dance music aged 14 1984.  I still buy quite a bit of Electro so this mix was fun for me to finally play them in a set. This stream I play a range of deep underground sounds moving thru Electro to Abstract Dance.  

Please join us for a 3 hour session 7pm Friday.  I warm up for 30 mins then Fader plays for 1.5 hours then back to me to finish off.  The set builds as we go as all sets should do.

MOONFACE + DJ Mates Fader SHOW 4 - April 22

my next monthly LIVE STREAM show number 5 guest spot Don Danser.

Aaron Blyth AKA Don Danser is a local Southampton chap.  Been around a few years now locally into the underground House and Techno scene.  Putting on nights at the now closed legendary JUNK club along with a few other intimate venues around town.  He has always supported me over the years and I am always thankful to him for that.  A thoroughbred vinyl lover just like myself.  He does the odd live stream and radio show for London Bloop radio.  A number of years back we had a great time recording a live stream from his place.  So I always had him in mind to get him on as a guest DJ early on in the series.  I know what he likes and I love how he plays, not holding back and crossing genres as he plays. 

This Live Stream I do my usual half an hour warm up playing some deep house proggy minimal tracks. Then I hand the decks over to Aaron as he starts off deep and quirky moving quickly he speeds up the tempo dropping into TOP GEAR Techno. Then I take back over the decks and try to follow his sound as i bang it out to the end.

SHOW 5 MOONFACE + DJ MATES DON DANSER - June 22

With our 15th episode, we welcome another very talented artist to our Herbarium series. It is @alkini, the label head of the fabulous imprint @a-biotic. In his journey, he leads us through many different stages of consciousness, mixing intriguing beatless pieces with hypnotic rhyhthms.

Alkini chose the plant Lavender / Lavandula for this trip. Some words about it from his side:
'Various influences, various hues. 
I wanted to write something that resonates with myself using music that I admire.

Its color being my favorite and its scent never leaving me indifferent, lavender is the plant that brings back the most memories for me. 
It originates from Provence, in the south of France. A familiar place to me.

Originating from the western Mediterranean basin, lavender was already used by the Romans to preserve linen and scent baths. 
In Provence, lavender was employed in the Middle Ages for the production of perfumes and medicines, but it wasn't until the 19th century that its cultivation expanded.'

Herbarium No 15 - Alkini - Lavandula

With two major milestones upon us today, we're fortunate enough to be celebrating with one of the finest in electronic music. A new year is upon us and today we also reach a major podcast milestone, to celebrate we welcome none other than contemporary techno legend, DJ Nobu for MNMT 400.

With decades of experience and as founder of both acclaimed party ‘Future Terror’ and record label ‘Bitta’, DJ Nobu has slowly but surely turned from being one of Japan's finest, to one of the world’s most in demand selectors. A great friend of Monument who delivered an incredible closing set at our first ever Monument City Festival in 2023, we couldn’t be happier to be marking the occasion with him. 

For this very special mix Nobu presents a stunning introspective excursion through electronica and deeper shades to celebrate the two milestones.

MNMT 400 : DJ Nobu

It's certainly been a very strange and unpleasant year, finishing on an extremely sour note. However, some very, very wonderful and beautiful music has been released despite this, helping elevate one's spirit above the noise and dismal situation our planet is facing.

I didn't celebrate new year (a pint with my pal was it)...but earlier in the evening I made myself record this 2.5 hour mix of some of my favourite ambient and downtempo music of the year.

Deeply entrenched with more than 30 years in the music industry, Phil MOONFACE Thompson is transcendent with hope and positivity. Phil’s online catalogue is growing with a stack of MOONFACE releases, not forgetting remixes and DJ compilations and endless online mixes. 

His early exposure to the superstars saw Sasha choosing “U Get So Give” for his legendary Essential Mix 2000 and then Bedrock's John Digweed signing “Futurized Fears” and “Overactive” as a double A side for his then brand new Bedrock label. Following the first 12” came a mini album called "BETWEEN WORLDS" on all formats selling out globally way before the digital age just before the Internet. 

Many top DJs from Lee Burridge, Athony Pappa, Danny Howells to Danny Tenaglia, Hernan Cattaneo to Carl Cox supported the MOONFACE sound back in the golden age of dance music.

Phil then became the new Bedrock resident covering about 5 years warming up monthly in London and Brighton taking over from Howells. As well as touring the globe on the best DJ agency at the time playing at many festivals and events flying the MOONFACE flag. Playing hot spots in Bali, Japan, Russia, Eastern Europe, Georgia, Greece, Malta, South America. Holding up a long-term residency at the legendary Decadance club Thessaloniki, Greece.  

Then came his single "Across the Gulf of Space" released on Bedrock 18 -Signals compilation.  Also current releases and remixes for Future Avenue on remix duties for up and coming Bristol star Tojogo.  Along with releases on Critical Elements, Krafted, If You Wait, ASTIR, Gibbon and Mirabilis, Wolf Trap & Mindwarp, Stripped Digital. 

Back in December 2020 Phil self released for the first time a new double album exclusively on Bandcamp called "PUSHOVER MANKIND".   A collection of 8 weird abstract chill out styled tracks, along with 8 dance floor underground styled tracks. Limited signed & numbered double CD albums are still available. 

2021 John Digweed played a MOONFACE track called U HAVE TO CHANGE in his Miami set playing B2B with Sasha.  This is a unique typical MOONFACE styled uplifting melodic summer time journey.  This track also features on Phil's BBC Radio 1 late night Wind Down set you can now find on YouTube.  Also in 2021 Phil got to work on a remix for the legendary Jan Johnston called One Step Beyond.  This was an original track by Paul Sawyer who had the chance to work with Jan on a number of original vocal tracks.
June 2023 Phil released a fresh new concept album on Sounds of Krafted called FAKE PLANET.  Featuring 14 MOONFACE original unique tracks taking you on a deep hypnotic journey.  You can hear the continuous mix on his Phil MOONFACE Thompson Soundcloud page.

2024 sees Phil continue hosting his FUTURIZED monthly show on Frisky Radio plus presenting his LIVE STREAM shows where he invites DJ mates to play sets via Mixcloud whenever the timing works out with his mates.   Also a brand new original track on a brand a new UK label called Critical Elements.  A remix for Rate & Flow called Deal With It. On top of that Phil has made a brand new remix of his own original track released on Bedrock back in 2001 called Naan Madol. Soon to be available on Bandcamp.
With all the music Phil creates and the DJ mixes he consistently records,  he still loves to Dj but is very selective in where he plays these days.   Playing in the Netherlands for DepGlobe and his now massive Dutch Dj Progressive collective is an honour to say the least..
