Milen Hristov Karabakalov (born November 15, 1992), known professionally by his stage name 2Strong Beatz, is a Bulgarian musician, beatmaker, rapper, and songwriter. 

With close friends from his neighborhood and high school, in 2009, 2Stgong has formed a hip-hop group Street Army, with whom he recorded numerous songs and performed at different events. After nearly two years the group was disbanded and 2Strong has followed a production career with a passion for creating instrumentals. 2Strong Beatz has been nominated for the Bulgarian’s Beatmaker of the year award in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Career

2Strong’s beat-making debut outside of Street Army came out in 2012 after his collaboration with the rapper Braketo. The video for their first collaboration song “Emotsiya” (Engl. “Emotion”) included the famous Bulgarian rapper Misho Shamara a.k.a Big Sha. After that, 2Strong and Braketo have partnered on several projects, and later, 2Strong has produced songs for Braketo’s label colleagues from Vendetta Production. 2Strong’s music has been used as a soundtrack in Braketo’s TV show “Otpravna tochka” (Engl. “Starting Point”). 

2Strong Beats have joined forces with other Bulgarian beatmakers for the Beat Dealerz beat-mixtape series. He participated in Beat Dealerz volume 3 (2012) and Beat Dealerz volume 4 (2016). 2Strong also has joined the Bulgarian beatmaker Tr1ckmusic for the beat-mixtape Beat ‘em up volume 1 (2012). 2Strong Beatz is known for his collaboration with the Bulgarian artist (music producer and beatmaker) Iron Soundz. They have joined forces with several other beatmakers for their beat-mixtapes It’s a Trap volume 1 (2013) and It’s a Trap volume 2 (2014). His solo beat-tape came out in 2017 with the title 2Strong EP. 

Personal Life

2Strong got a 3rd degree of professional qualification in the profession "Mechanical technician" from his high school - Ivan Hadjienov Vocational High School. He also got a bachelor’s degree from the Technical University of Gabrovo in the profession “Industrial Management”. 2Stong was a member of his high school basketball team, with whom he won the city championship twice – in 2009, 2010. He has won the school’s 3x3 basketball tournament in 2011 as well. 2Strong also participated in several 2x2 streetball tournaments.

The Sydney based Dj / producer is of Antipodean stock, but it was his formative years living in the metropolis of London through the early 90’s that has forged who - and what - he is today.

SHIVERS* is a product of a rich melodic history. Drawing on an array of genres and inspiration of the past to solidify his inimitable and unique sound, today.

Harmonic fluency and percussive persuasions are witnessed through his productions. Each piece a homage to a time, a place or a feeling and running through all, the effortlessness of deep, raw emotion.

With a career spanning almost fifteen years in dance music - he has seen, heard and experienced things, worlds and sounds that others have not; that others have perhaps not allowed the fringes of their soul to explore.

With musicality that oozes nocturnal ambience and an antique neon dream like quality SHIVERS* will take you on a capricious escapade through all his life has encountered. Vast spaces and endless galactic particles streak past in a blur, as if riding shotgun in the mothership itself - wonder and awe abound.

His debut 2012 release on the cult Berlin imprint Mother Recordings (Love Falls / Strangers In The Dark) was met with much critical acclaim; and rightly so. It is forward thinking house music, dark and brooding but with evocative hints of the past – a rich musical past at that. The iconic Ibiza Voice reviewed the release declaring it ‘would no doubt remain timeless for years to come’ and awarded it with a coveted 8/10.

The wider musical fraternity also embraced the release with support coming from uber tastemakers around the planet – Deetron, The Revenge, Droog, Dj Sneak, Dyed Soundorom, Kiki, Fur Coat, Catz n Dogz, Audiojack and Reboot but to name a handful..

Since then releases on Neim, Runnin Wild, Exotic Refreshment, Escapism Musique and more have followed and have already hinted at what looks to be the beginning a future filled with much promise..

Hyperbole aside - it’s all about the connection between an artist and their work and above all else – ‘sound’ is the mark that SHIVERS* intends to leave on all, beyond time..

Guitarist turned Producer and DJ, Qarrell brings a passion to underground Bass Music that is hard to be rivaled. He is consistently releasing tracks and ep’s that keep creeping up the charts. Qarrell’s unique branch of brutal Bass Music can vibrate ceiling tiles to their demise and demolish the notion that Electronic Underground Music should be pretty. Life is ugly and Qarrell seems to pride his music on the idea that from this disgust, a release of negativity can come in production enjoyable to bass heads everywhere. His roots in the heavier side to rock music have bled into his inspirations for his disturbingly evil Dubstep, Breaks, Drum and Bass, and Electro House.

Aside from charting in the top 100 on Beatport, Top 20 on Juno, and Top 10 on Trackitdown, Qarrell is also the head of the heavy hitting One For All Records and Co-Owner of Lungr Records. He attracted the attention of Detroit’s own Bang-Tech 12 collective and is one of the only Dubstep producers to be on their impressive roster. Qarrell makes it ok to love American Dubstep and sets himself aside from what the underground music world expects from American Bass Music Artists. Recently Qarrell has dove into Trapstyle production and his love for Drum and Bass seems to be making a comeback in his style and creative songwriting. Qarrell’s live show is impressive and his past touring and event schedule can lead one to ask the question, why has Qarrell not joined the ranks of the upper echelon of American Bass Music? The question should be, when not why.
