5 - Nic Chagall - What You Need (NCs In Love With Prog Mix)

Lulu Rouge's "The Sound Is The Drum" is probably be one of the finest if not *the* finest albums of 2013 with both tracks featuring Fanney Osk on vocals being my favourite, and it's hard to improve upon something you like this much. And yet, adding a little bit of that Elite Force magic (plus the usual tweaking here and there by yours truly) certainly pushes (ha!) the original track in a completely new direction while retaining its original awesomeness.

I was especially happy with how the bass line of the first and the kick drum of the latter perfectly fitted with each other.

A tradition that’s unofficially linked their last 4 years with a 3-strong arc of ‘Slowmotion’ tracks, each has augured a major new Solarstone or Orkidea release or project. As the first purpose-produced track from his forthcoming, keenly anticipated ‘Electronic Architecture³’compilation, No. ‘III’ in the series is no different. Together the pair deliver another piece of righteously dark, long and supremely strong subterranean-minded trance.
Solarstone & Orkidea are back to strike three for three with the latest in their sequential ‘Slowmotion’ series. The pair’s Original Mix steams from port through coolly undulated bass waves and casually swelled 80s-edged synthesis, tipping a blasé vocal salute to arch synth-masters Yello as it embarks. 
Churning those waters ever deeper, female siren-song harmonies heighten its atmosphere, before Richard & Tapio channel the track into the glockenspiel-like orchestral chime of the break. With the tempo’s dial securely locked to trance-progressive, ‘Slowmotion III” proceeds to deliver one laser-lit FX tweak, frisson-filled sequential development and masterfully delivered key change after another. 

Pure mood-food for those that like to explore the dark underbelly of trance, the Original Mix of ‘Slowmotion III’ arrives on Beatport on June 30th.

Michael Flint, a 21 year old trance producer from Poland is no stranger to our label. This time he joins Beyond The Stars Recordings with an orchestral uplifter entitled Divination.

The original mix opens up with superb energy and emotion, utilising a host of strong bass lines, huge chords and repetitive plucks. The breakdown emerges into an orchestral affair, with violins encompassing the majority of the melody. An epic arp lead blends it's way into the mix, before engulfing the whole track and moving into a big drop! Very powerful!

Sava and Steve Dekay, each deliver their unique interpretations. Sava takes a slightly less epic approach, incorporates the original melody ideas, adding a wonderfully crafted piano into proceedings. In stark contrast to this, Steve Dekay presents us with his very own 'OrchesTrance' remix. More violins, choir vocals, pianos, and epic tribal drum loops.

After a period of silence, it’s now time for Thomas Bronzwaer to kill it. He makes his grand return at the A State of Trance label and with the double E.P. of ‘Proteus’ shows to never have lost his touch for quality trance!

For Dutchman Thomas Bronzwaer, there’s ever been a silver lining on the horizon. His early classics ‘Collider’, ‘Certitude’ and ‘Titan’ helped him built a steady reputation as one of EDM’s most promising producer talents. Praised by the DJ elite and loved by the crowd, his productions always share that unique glow. That same glow can be found on ‘Proteus’ and ‘Coherence’, the first Thomas Bronzwaer originals in 2 years! 

An intricate maze of utterly balanced bass, kick and melody kick starts the energetic and intriguing tune of ‘Proteus’, as where ‘Coherence’ is much more stripped down and aims for the proggy side of things. Awash with a deep groove and a funky rhythm, this is exactly what makes separates a Bronzwaer tune from anyone else’s.

Citizen 42 aka Andy Tau and Philthy Chit aka Phil Taylor & Chitra Kumar join forces to give us "Curious Mind" backed up with a couple of quality mixes. The guys have an already impressive resume within the Bonzai stable and are continuing to show their talent with tracks like this. Andy Tau is no stranger to the scene with a slew of releases under various guises and he continues to show his talent with support all over the world. Phil and Chitra got together in 2007 and have been mixing and producing ever since, they are regular DJ's and have played alongside the cream of the crop. They have hosted many parties with the likes of M.I.K.E, Tucandeo and Andy Tau gracing the decks.

First up is the original mix, a wonderful progressive vibe is kicked off with a kick and arp combination that builds and builds with a chugging bassline up to a real solid groove. Crisp percussions and a well crafted melodic sequence will get the floors moving, amazing!

Melbourne based Narel aka Nick Simmons is up next on the remix. Nick is a veteran on the Bonzai scene with releases on some of the classic labels and remixing for top artists. Now we see him return with a stunning take on the original track here. Trancey breaks get us moving and soon the melodies build up with epic pads and arps, the bassline creeps up and morphs its way through the track with the filters doing a great job creating classic acid sounds, pure quality.

Fresh from their latest release "Sunrise Over Ganymede", Tom Conrad & Andre Bonsor take to the mixing desk once again. Progressive trance at its best! Slowly building its way to a true stomper with a tight kick and crisp hats, the bassline teases and teases until suddenly it breaks out to its full head bobbing glory, what a bassline it is! Subtle melodies make their way through the track and you find yourself totally immersed in the groove with this. Perfect.

Push, Airwave, Gai Barone, Solarstone, Max Graham and many more.
