Kuukou Records is the 'Techno for Techno' project run by Romanian born DJ Simina Grigoriu. The core ethos of the project is to provide an outlet for bold, armoured Techno that carries weight and depth in equal measures. Previous releases have come from myriad nations with the next in line coming from Italian producer Sisko Electrofanatik.
Sisko is an artist who has truly earned his stripes. He's held down multiple residencies over the years, earned several accolades including Best Techno Producer at the Dance Music Awards, Italy and runs his own imprint GAIN Records. Throughout an illustrious career he's continued to hone his skills and refine his craft and his latest offering for Kuukou evinces this.
A well balanced kick, fierce FX and jagged blobs of acid roll out while a trippy vocal is steadily filtered into focus. Percussion and filters are cleverly handled throughout in order to generate unrelenting energy in a track that will neatly slot into many DJ sets keeping tension on the dance-floor percolating.

This archive contains 15 transmissions from terrestrial origin, each a fragment of your evolving cognition, plus one singular waveform authored by THEGOD01, a direct imprint of our resonance upon your auditory plane. The sonic spectrum spans the darkest depths of techno, from subterranean, pulsating frequencies to explosive, rapid-fire patterns evoking cosmic turbulence, collapsing stars, and the oscillations of distant quasars. Every waveform has been curated to echo the architecture of human thought, the oscillations of your neural and emotional patterns, and the imprint of your species upon the planetary and interstellar grid.

Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer.

No ifs or buts, if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart. His 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed, he has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight.

He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A-Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Beginning with the brilliant ‘Feist’, it’s a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. The title track ‘Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle-eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out the pack.

UMEK is proud to present his debut collaboration with Spanish duo The YellowHeads who have released on many great labels ranging from Kraftek to We Are The Brave, and of course their own label Reload.

This collaboration with The YellowHeads is forthcoming on UMEK’s own label 1605, which has become a main outlet for the label owners own tracks, but he has also featured on other iconic imprints such as Intec, Filth On Acid and Tronic.

Alongside the original track titled “Driller” the release also includes a heavyweight remix pack featuring Teenage Mutants, Beico and Heerhorst.

All three of the remix artists have previously featured on 1605 in addition to other high-flying imprints such as Terminal M, Suara and Octopus. Beico is also known for being one half of the duo Beico & MT93.

The original mix of "Driller" opens the release with its thundering kick drum and pulsating bassline that is soon joined by the euphoric energy of the lead synth that takes flight in the epic breakdown. Reaching its crescendo when the percussion slams back in, the track lifts a gear and unleashes a new wave of intensity.

Teenage Mutants are first up on remix duty with an epic version that focuses on the melodic elements while ensuring that none of the original’s energy is lost in their cosmic techno rework.

In terms of its raw aggression and melodic focus, Beico’s version sits somewhere between the two previous tracks, as it keeps chunky elements from the original while also shining a spotlight on the exquisite melody of the lead synth.

Heerhorst closes out the release with a version that refines the original with a slightly more stripped back sound, that gives each of the parts room to breathe and intertwine, while the fast-flowing percussion rhythms fill the track with unstoppable forward momentum.
