December the 10th meets talented artists Luca Morris and Mozzy Rekorder to join Numen with their new 2-track EP “Bermuda”. 

The producers met around 6 years ago and found themselves working on a few tracks together soon after. From then on, they built a great friendship and compliment each other’s production skills. They had releases on such important techno labels as Terminal M, Codex and Reload. In 2020 talents have conquered the first position (and kept for a month) of Beatport Peak Time Chart.

<p>Many Reasons present a threefold, chrome-plated journey and starting off with the title track, we are introduced to streamlined atmospherics, moody chords and cavernous percussion. &#8220;Vertical&#8221; picks up from there with evolving synths and juicy sub bass, while intricate programming keeps everything suspenseful and mutated vocal snippets add a sense of urgency. Closing up, we have the bubbling low-end of &#8220;Phonica&#8221;, complete with hypnotic loops and menacing stabs.</p>

<p>After their appearance on our &#8220;Abilities&#8221; compilation, Steam Shape come out swinging with four shadowy tracks. &#8220;Output&#8221; is up first, with hypnotic electronics clearing the way for grand stabs and melodic riffs over a grinding rhythm section. &#8220;Eris&#8221; picks up from there and whips out the looped-out vocals, as acidic phrases and shattering sub-bass interlock effortlessly with the rocksteady drumset. The title tracks&#8217;s rumbling low-end provides the perfect backdrop for creeping synthesis and tasty, staccato chords which ultimately lead us to the closing &#8220;Predestination&#8221; where we are introduced to frantic claps, unfolding synths and haunting phrases.</p>

"I can't quite remember where I was when I first heard this masterpiece from Matt Dear but it resonated with me instantly. And judging by how many DJs got behind it "Mouth to Mouth" was destined to become a classic. The 10 year anniversary is quite special for me not only because of how timeless and relevant the track remains, but 2006 was also the year I branched out as a solo artist. So thank you Matt for the inspiration and I hope my take on it complements the original masterpiece." - Dubfire

As well-received as Audion's debut album—the sawed-off techno of Suckfish—was back in 2005, Matthew Dear's alter ego didn't assert its dominance until the following year. That's when Richie Hawtin slipped Audion's next single (the anthem-on-arrival that is "Mouth to Mouth") into the closing set of Detroit's Electronic Music Festival, pulling the pin on the weekend's most explosive moment and leaving everyone wondering what the hell just happened. 
Which was kinda the point. Dear wrote and recorded "Mouth to Mouth" right after a two-week tour of Europe, and in many ways, its hypnotic rhythms and signature bee swarm hook—cut in real time over the course of a couple restless hours—are meant to replicate the rush he felt in many overseas clubs.

"There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then," explains Dear. "I remember playing the song for a few people and it was clear something special was happening, something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all."

The side-long single has stood the test of time, too, enough to warrant another look along the ambitious lines of Mouth to Mouth 10. The double pack reveals how one track can take on a life of its own in the hands of eight distinct producers, keeping its core intact without being afraid to manipulate the record's overall mood. So while Riva Starr's mischievous version sounds like it could be dropped in the middle of a sweaty Horse Meat Disco set, Dubfire lurks in the shadows, waiting to strike; and Dense & Pika crank up the chaos like a pressure cooker set to self-destruct.

"I asked everyone to treat their remix like a cover," explains Dear, "letting the theme guide them rather than the parts. Everyone put a piece of themselves into it, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing." 

He can also breathe a sigh of relief, for Mouth to Mouth 10 marks the end of Audion's first chapter and the beginning of what's to come with his long-awaited second LP this summer.
