Norman Levy aka Köldd is a French DJ and producer currently studying Sound Engineering in Brussels. Norman has co-founded Metaphore with Black Sheep & Elysee, a Marseille-based collective intended to promote the electronic underground culture. Metaphore has invited international artists such as Lenny Posso, Dilo, Mekas or Antigone  to perform in local clubs and exotic places. Norman is presently running Parachute, a new project aimed at spreading his vision of quality music and parties in Brussels.

Co-running Pan Records and having a dozen of releases under his belt, Ryo is now ready to launch his own label “Depth of Decay” on which he releases his first album.

When he was six years old, Milos got really fascinated and involved with break dance movement. At that time, he was introduced to the electronic beats for the first time in his life. The important step towards his music career was his enrollment into Junior Music School in Belgrade, when he was only eight years old, where he learned the basics of music theory. He got in touch with electronic music when he was fourteen in 1993, traveling within England. Since then, his dedication to electronic music was just enormous. Although, being lucky enough to travel a lot around the world, he began collecting and buying vinyl ever since.

Milos started his dj career as soon as sixteen years old. At the very beginning he was a resident of a famous Belgrade underground club Omen, where he played Thursdays. In 1998, after his first appearance in highly regarded club Industria in Belgrade, he joined organization TTP and gained a weekly residency. By the end of the 1999, when club Omen was already closed, he participated and played in most of the Belgrade’s finest underground clubs and parties. At that time, he drew attention with his innovative mixing techniques and skills, using even three decks for mixture of house and techno. Even though he was always devoted to it, in mid 2003, his progression led him profoundly to more deep and innovative sounds of electronic music. He developed his new set up in performing and got into more stripped down house, techno and some electronica.

Milos started producing his own tracks during the 2002. In 2006 his debut track called “Fluctual” appears on a compilation “Belgrade Coffee Shop – Area 6″, while its break-through in the international music scene is marked with releases “Trapizator Ep” in 2007 and “Transistor Ep” in 2008 for the Frankfurt label Momentum. Milos spent a lot of time on his newly born project Regen in 2008, his pseudonym. Regen project is focused on a dubby side of both house and techno genres, with a unique approach of early dub techno classics of early ‘90s. His first track “Duege”, under his Regen alias, appeared on a compilation “Sometimes You Don’t Need Any Words” on Munich based label Ilian Tape in 2008.

Phonons Podcast 013 - Joey Anderson

XDB is Kosta Athanassiadis – German by birth and in residence, with Greek parentage. His roots are in the central German town of Göttingen. It was here that he began DJing in the early nineties; where he worked in a record shop; where he ran a radio show for five years; and the base from which he established the Metrolux record label in 2006.
For many people, it was at this point that XDB appeared on their radar. His debut ‘Jackintosh EP’ and the following ‘Descap EP’ made a splash with heads, but whilst the shimmering dub techno moments were perhaps the most obvious hook, subsequent tracks defied easy categorisation – an early indication that the person behind the music took a broad view of electronic music, caring not for stylistic pigeonholes.
Further releases mapped out more of a defined aesthetic for the label, with XDB’s own work sitting alongside contributions from Atheus and Arne Weinberg. By 2007, Kosta’s music had caught the ear of other outlets; including Francois Kevorkian’s Deep Space Media (a sublabel of Wave Music) licensed ‘Descap’ and ‘Descap live’ for re-release. Brendon Moeller was the A&R at that time and a 4 track EP on Wave Music followed in 2009.
The same year, Patrice Scott put out the first XDB release on his own Sistrum Recordings, which saw Kosta tailoring his output to a cleaner, more Detroit-inflected sound.
In tandem with his production work, XDB the DJ was coming into his own. An avid collector of vinyl since his childhood (Kosta’s collection presently numbers some 10,000 records); he had honed his craft in clubs and on the radio – mixing monthly on his own ‘Case Check’ show. 2008 brought an early highlight – spinning at Japan’s lauded Labyrinth festival alongside the cream of the international deep techno and house scene.
Kosta’s DJ sets draw upon his expansive record collection, playing right across the board of electronic music. He has no shortage of technical skill but it’s his selection that truly shines – putting the music itself at the forefront, letting songs breathe when need be, and delivering plenty of head-scratching ‘what the hell is this track?’ moments.
It’s on this that Kosta has built his reputation. Tastemakers such as the now-defunct mnml ssgs crew were quick to snap him up for a guest mix in 2009, and several of his online recordings have been picked up for Resident Advisor’s ‘Mix of the Day’ spot.
In 2010, XDB played at the UK’s highly-regarded Freerotation festival – starting a love affair with the event that’s seen him come back every year since. The festival secured Kosta’s place within a fraternity of fellow musicians and DJs who also prefer to let their music do the talking – likeminds who recognise the purity in what they do, and are all the more respected because of it.
That same year, he remixed Detroit heroes Norm Talley and Aaron Carl and in 2011 produced releases for the Dolly, Harbour City Sorrow and Echocord imprints. 2012’s highlight was a split 12” with Kassem Mosse and in 2013 he was reunited with Sistrum Recordings for the ‘Frocks’ record. 2013 also saw the rebirth of Metrolux after a 3 year hiatus, with ‘Edition 2’, an excellent Various Artists release.
When it comes to producing, Kosta favours a slow and steady work rate, opting to focus on quality control rather than record shop ubiquity. His DJing keeps him in the public eye, but one gets the sense that XDB prefers to operate in the shadows. There’s a refreshing lack of gimmickry to his approach – keeping it low-key allows him to be judged solely on the basis of talent. Arguably, it’s an innate quality – the way he wants to play it; the way that brings him most satisfaction, but it’s helped establish his reputation as an artist of considerable merit, winning the approval his audience and peers, alike.

Uta is a long time Berlin DJ and radio presenter on notorious ex-pirate station TwenFM. 
She also co-runs the "Rec Room", a party series which has gained massive popularity among fans of UK-influenced bass music in Berlin. 
Unlike other Berlin DJs, Uta has always been a listener. 
Being part of the city’s underground scene since its heydey in the 1990s, she has become an expert in classic House and Techno. 
As a DJ, Uta knows how to rock a crowd with her killer technique and excellent taste. 
She is a proper old-school individualist who loves digging in second hand shops as well as checking the latest bits in House, Techno, UK Bass  and judging them by her own ear.

For Baaz, it's long been all about the music. Rolling out a house sound at once driving, narcotic and dreamy, he makes music sounds lived-in and classic but also crisply future-forward. Rather than rehash the past, he makes the present and future sound perfectly seasoned, like they've been hiding out in the attic all this time. It's a sound he pushes both in his recorded output-which has seen release through labels like Dan Bell's Elevate Recordings, Sthlmaudio Recordings, Quintessentials and Slices Of Life over the years-and in wide-ranging DJ sets throughout Europe, North America and Japan. In 2012, Baaz launched Office Recordings, a label not confined to any one musical genre or approach. Thus far, it's featured two EPs of warmly melodic house that find Baaz collaborating with fellow travelers like Iron Curtis and Soulphiction, as well as continuing to hone his craft.

Arnvidur Snorrason is one of the most experienced and respected techno figures in Iceland. Snorrason has been active as Exos since 1997, the name under which he has released three LPs and more than fifteen maxis and EP’s on labels such as Force Inc, Thule or Mosaic as well as being remixed by contemporaries such as Mark Broom, Ben Sims and DJ Rush. His name is synonymous with quality and carries the purist guarantee for deep and unpolluted techno. This year his 2001 album, "MY HOME IS SONIC" will be re released in September along with Q box and Greenbeat.
Not to mention his new solo ep on Strobelight network label.

Both inspired by electronic music since the end of the '90s, they founded the <a target="_blank" class="hyperlink" title="natural/electronic.system.'s Facebook page" href="http://www.facebook.com/naturalelectronicsystem">n/e.s.</a> project in 2004 so as to express their personal definition of music. Navigating through various styles, their DJ sets subtly combine a wide range of organic sounds. From 2000, they started performing in Italian clubs and Mount Vesuvius forests. Phonons is a non-profit organization supporting electronic musicians and selectors. It is based in Marseille - France and has strong connections in Europe , Asia and in the USA. It was founded in 2011 at the initiative of Nahim Bendjilali, Philippe Gray-Lopez and Vincent Telandro.
