Photic Fields´ next release comes from another (Italy born) Irishman, Lerosa, who's known for an impressive series of releases over the years.  Where many producers seems to do, Lerosa doesn’t follow any blueprint for his productions, he's always exploring the edges of house, techno and electro to create something new. This release is no exception to that. With this record he also explores the emotive side of things, in a rough edged and analogue way. The EP is related to an artwork made by his girlfriend named ‘Woman Flew Home’, in such a way, that he named the record after it: a deeply personal and meaningful project.  The record starts off with ‘some things endure’, an introspective piece with a deep and dark synth pad. ‘Nebula raider’ breaks open the record with its euphoric feel and acid hints.  On the b-side you’ll find two joyful cuts: the uplifting 'dream of flight', and the closing track of the record, 'postmodern', with its playful keys and emotive synth tones.

Continuum Gate is a huge, super-effective DJ tool. A wonky acid top-line hovers over rolling, Spastik-style percussion (which everyone loves)... add in massive kicks and a gritty ride and BOOM, the party gets pazzo. 'Children of the Heart' tweaks the reverb and flecks the resonant acid all over your mind... it sounds like Daniel Avery, dipped in tiramisu. Finally, 'Turbo Rolling Ride' ups the jack quotient, with pumping snares punctuating an infinitely grooving bassline.

Solid, playable bombs.

This year has proved to be Token’s biggest with the Belgian label releasing music from Surgeon, Rødhåd, an album by Inigo Kennedy, while also debuting Ancient Methods & Orphx’s Eschaton collaboration and welcoming back Oscar Mulero & Christian Wünsch’s Spherical Coordinates project. Following the release of Token’s unyielding Aphelion compilation, a collection of exclusive productions label founder Kr!z outsourced from famed artists like Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Lucy and Karenn, Token looks inward again by inviting back to its ranks hardened UK techno martial Makaton.

Steve Bailey, aka Makaton, has been releasing hard-line techno since 1999 with all but two of his releases coming through his own Rodz-Konez operation, a label that’s also put out music by Inigo Kennedy, Regis, Female and The 65D Mavericks. One of those two records not released on Rodz-Konez was Makaton’s 2009 Token debut, Leave Them All Behind, a record described by Resident Advisor as “hypnotic, swathed in enigmatic chord sequences”, which was, until now, his last.

After a five year hiatus Makaton makes a storming return to Token and releasing music with this Ra Ra Replica EP. To be expected, Bailey delivers a ruthless body of work incorporating hardcore components of British techno like he’s always done, be it the shuddering industrialisms of “Spit To Lubricate”, frenetic 909 workouts of “Night #1” or the psycho cluster synths of Lead You Astray. It’s not all cavernous cannonades of booming techno however, with Makaton also providing the dense but groovy drum-track “Dstablise” in a production that sculpts loopy electro tones with bleepy Warp-era synths made fit Token’s inured framework.

A project inspired by and dedicated to Richard Feynman: the scientist, the teacher, the explorer, the visionary and the raconteur. His scientific curiosity, zest for life and eccentric personality were tried to be captured in music, produced by a true admirer of the man. Rolando Simmons lives in a desolate coastal town of Sweden and divides his time between a creaky old townhouse and two rural homes. The dreamlike environment of meadows, grasslands, hills and lakes, combined with his fascination for Drexciya, AFX and Isao Tomita inspired Rolando to make this odd fairy tale music. 

Similar to his heroes, Rolando uses a bunch of hardware: Alisa 1387, MS-20, MC-4, SQ-1, Blofeld, Machinedrum, TX-7, 606, Poly-800, Filterbank 2, VSR-3 reverb which all ends up in Renoise. Other inspirations include Sibylle Baier, Jandek, Vashti Bunyan and Debussy.

It’s been two years since Tagwell Woods first appeared on W.T.  Records. His rich and refreshingly unique techno style caught the ears of the faithful. Finally, finally, the Londoner is back on vinyl with six pieces of his original brand of machine music. And the wait is worth it. Tracks like “Christmas” and “Training” pulsate with feeling. Others like “Rabbit Society” and “Chance” build on that emotion. Crisp percussion and heartening strings are weaved as lush moments and textures unfurl. The 12” is incredibly deep and flooded with sentiment. But don’t be mistaken into thinking Tagwell Woods deals in weight, instead it’s his lightness of touch that sings. “Tied Waves” is fragile and delicate, whispering before blossoming into being. The finale, the beautifully uplifting “Velocity”, has that same deftness. Mecca defies classification. Electronica. Techno. House. Acid. All are lovingly melted together to produce an absorbing and soulful second release, a release which is testament to the talent of this fledgling musician.

For our penultimate release of 2015, we are very excited to introduce you to Anonimaly, a brand new production duo consisting of 2 French producers living in Paris and London.
While the boys wish to remain anonymous for now, they’re not beginners when it comes to putting out quality house tracks, and were actually pretty active as a duo a few years ago. They recently decided to get back to work and we at Supremus are delighted to finally release their debut EP.
The first time we heard La Blessure, we instantly knew we had something special on our hands. The combination of its haunting string sample, hypnotic keys and emotional vocals turns it into an instant timeless classic, equally at home as a memorable set opener or as an end-of-the-night encore. And because every great track needs a great remix, we went ahead and reached out to our good friend, Canadian Deep House legend Mr Fred Everything, who loved it so much he delivered not one, but two different takes on it. Mr Everything uses his awesome production skills to refine the title track for his remix, but also takes us to 5am territory with his lethal Devil-In-The-Dub. Last but not least, the boys round off the EP with the funky as hell, yet deep and well
produced So Long, which, we hope you’ll agree, totally fits our emerging Supremus sound.

Though, his ambient recordings are less known till date. Only a few nuggets of information exist on The Valley and The Mountain. They/he/she hail(s) from Detroit. Previous work has featured on labels like WeMe and Shipwrec. That´s it. And the mysterious producer has been quiet of late, but the return is well worth the wait. Gentle Waters Keep Moving is the first full length outing from TVTM and their/his/her most absorbing work to date. Sharpened edges are rounded, 303 squawk softened and rhythms mellowed as ten tracks of melting music is served. The Detroit denizen calls on the sounds of the hometown. Techno is at the album´s heart but frosted touches of electro are present, warming acid twangs, house grooves with all being dipped in a refreshing undercurrent of electronica. A collection of tracks that draws you in, deeper and deeper, with every listen.

The ferocity of the 303 has been sheathed, percussion pared down with lush chords and deep warmth being the focus. House is the foundation from which CCO builds. Rarely do remix albums have this level of quality control and seemingly infinite replay value. As we further explore shapes of deep and emotive electronic music, Photic Fields proudly presents the return of Leonid. This anonymous producer only appeared a couple of times in the last 5 years on Sistrum and Statik Recordings, such a commitment to a ‘quality over quantity’ approach is pretty unique and remarkable. Despite this low output, his well-considered and delightfully crafted works are greatly appreciated and have impressed quite some folks. This record features 3 new tracks by Leonid, which all pushes down into the depths of 'soulful' house and techno music. Each of them does this in its own way but they’ve got one thing in common: they are all overloaded with warmth and emotions. Pure and calm deepness, which is soothing for our restless minds.
