Sometime in the 1960s Hank Mullen’s friend and fellow Buffaloian Carl LaRue, an organ player, traveled with his group (Carl LaRue and His Crew) all the way to Phoenix, Arizona, where he’d secured a steady gig as the house band at the local Zanzibar club. Soon after starting the job, he would invite a young (16yr & 19yr old) vocal duo to perform some of their original songs in front of his band during shows. 

Ernest Johnson Jr. and Eddie (Edgar) William Campbell were eager to make it in music and for the next 10 odd years would attempt to do so.

They managed to record and release a handful of singles across varied imprints spread throughout the United States, from South Carolina to Chicago, from New York to Phoenix. One of their singles, “Time Waits for No One” hit #1 on New York’s WWRL, which subsequently landed on the bill at the Apollo, appearing alongside soul heavyweight’s Gene Chandler, Wilson Pickett, and the Temptations. Through ups and downs, none of their pair’s recordings ever served to catapult them to greater fame and sadly in the early 70’s, Eddie’s premature death would close the door on their partnership. 

One of the duo’s last recordings, “Bullets Don’t Have Eyes” was never released at the time of its creation in 1972. The 45 was eventually released on Daptone imprint Ever-Soul in 2009. 

There are two versions of the 45 available in the Super Soul Super Store. One with the b-side "In These Very Tender Moments" and another 45 which features a different b-side, "You Make My Life A Sunny Day," which is exclusively available in our shop.

Born in Baghdad, raised in New Delhi, and now expanding further around the world spreading his message of cross-cultural understanding through the common denominator of music - Mohammed Abood a.k.a. DJ MoCity is a music entrepreneur that's been hustling his way around Asia and beyond for the past decade.

With roots firmly based in hip-hop, he has entertained crowds and organised events all over the India whilst also being the creative force behind “Dubstation” at Bacardi NH7 Weekender. A stage that has tirelessly promoted genres such as dub, reggae, hip-hop, glitch-hop, dubstep and drum and bass – all on a large mainstream platform.

Don't forget the Rajahs either. The last five years have seen DJ MoCity, Diggy Dang and Mr Herbalist, turn their infectious passion for reggae music into a national sensation as Reggae Rajahs. Their enthusiasm and determination has seen them create strong international bonds placing India firmly on the tight-knit reggae map whilst consciously sharing their achievements with a very real and dedicated fan base. Five years has even seen the clan grow from three into five with new recruits Ziggy B and BeLights.

As a solo figure, DJ MoCity is evidently a forward thinking DJ.

Moving through a whopping 70 tracks in just over 100 minutes, the session on hand is rife with pulsing rhythms, R&B grooves, and washy synths yet with the music never feeling hurried. We suspect MoCity's current favorites feature heavily in proceedings, with a few selections also coming from local producers based in both India and Pakistan.

On a technical level, the transitions are generally pretty short, with one track subtly and quickly fading into the next. And while the mix has its bumper moments, the overall pace is beat heavy and groove consistent.

It's not hard to figure that MoCity clearly knows where the dancefloor is located, yet at this point he's just showing off his impressive beat catalogue, and we're happily tagging along for the ride.

Prepare yourselves for a triple whammy, as we've got our mitts Flight 22, the new 3-track release from Bristol duo, Dolman.

Formed of Scott Hendy (a.k.a. Boca 45, and one half of Domino Records act Malachai) and Ben Salisbury (film composer and half of DROKK), Dolman released their self-titled, debut album last year. 'Flight 22' - a vision of serenity featuring the airy vocals of The Fauns singer Alison Garner - actually featured on the LP; however, the track is now receiving a well-deserved single release along with an almost computer-game-like remix from Hypercolour affiliate J.Wiltshire. Also accompanying 'Flight 22' is another remix, which sees Hypersync take 'The Rainbow' (featuring Adele Emmas) down a moody, cinematic route.

FANBOY was born out of an obsession for collectibles, sportswear and a need to create something positive for the scenes and people that we love. 

Based in Scotland, we’re teaming up with some of the best artists and designers across the globe, with a focus on homegrown talent, to build a solid brand that people can love and trust. FANBOY is that beautiful place where business meets creativity while keeping it's integrity, which – for us – is the place to be. 

We take influence from graffiti, skateboarding, tattoo culture and locally homegrown music. This by no means defines us, but it’s the stuff that catches our eye and inspires us to do what we do. 

We are the opposite of high street culture. We want to epitomise what it means to be yourself. We aim to nourish, build upon, and stand on the shoulders of the talented scene that already exists in Scotland, but for too long has been drowned out by other places deemed bigger and better.
