CircoLoco Records’ string of top quality tracks continues with Map.ache’s ‘IZA,’ the first single from a forthcoming EP from the Giegling collective, the eclectic group of German producers and DJ’s responsible for a string of underground classics including Map.ache’s ‘Where Do We Go From Here’ and Molly’s ‘All Good.’  ‘IZA’ is signature Map.ache: melancholy and hypnotic deep house with warm bass, layered descending synth melodies and snippets of plaintive vocal. 

‘IZA’ follows the recent release of “On My Own Now,” the two-track single from DJ Tennis & Ashee featuring Lady Donli, and Skream’s smash, The Attention Deficit EP.

Tibi Dabo returns with ‘Overture’, a third tantalising single from his forthcoming Crosstown Rebels album, with remixes from Map.ache and Aline Umber.

The first two singles from the project, ‘Triple Frontier’ and ‘Licht’, have shown what Barcelona’s Tibi Dabo is all about - forward-thinking electronic music with original drums (a result of him having toured the globe with his band) and plenty of cosmic twists and character. A label favourite having dropped his ‘Isla’ EP on Crosstown Rebels back in 2022, ahead of his much-anticipated debut LP comes this third superb taster from it.

The superb ‘Overture’ is an eight-minute gem with super smooth percussion and elastic grooves, with wispy sci-fi chords and gentle synth modulations. It’s full of future feels and catchy drum funk that is sophisticated and smartly detailed with choppedup vocal fragments.

First to remix is Leipzig’s Map.ache, co-founder of Kann Records and member of the Giegling family. His take builds with fatter drums that are just as infectious, while rippling synth loops weave in and out as flashy basslines cut loose and balmy pads add extra cosmic absence to a hypnotic mix of the heady and the physical.

Aline Umber, a collaborative live project from French composers, producers and DJs Aline Brooklyn and Aman Umber, are second to remix. They run the Airfunk label and are no stranger to playing cult spots like Rex Club in Paris. Their ‘23% Eventide’ mix is a blissed-out and synth-laced trip with subtle, smeared chords and starry-eyed keys that have you gazing off into the distance as you get lost in the warm drums.

Taking their trademark bouncy and playful strain of house music to Stil vor Talent with 'Girls to the Front', HOVR gets the ball rolling with cheeky bravura. As its title suggests, this is HOVR's dance floor-ready attempt at shedding a broader light on the subject of 'androcentrism', i.e. the fact of placing the masculine point of view at the center of society, including club music, thereby culturally marginalizing feminity. A call for women to take the front stage, 'Girls to the Front' - with its fun-loving approach to a perfectly serious actual socio-political issue, beckons us towards communion rather than division, encouraging men to realise how their inherent position forces women out of the picture. Driven by an infectious hi-NRG jack, processed synth stabs and 303-fueled bass squelch, HOVR's single combines laser-guided ghetto tech attributes with true-school Detroit house tropes to deadly effect. In the hands of Biesmans, the track hatches into a further roller-coaster-like ride - flush with obsessive arpeggios, hard-hitting claps and a further muscular buildup, whilst getting the message across with even greater loads of anthemic vibrations and boundary-pushing apropos. Calling all girls to the front.
