"We are Monologue, long-time friends and collaborators Aroma Nice and Earl Grey, and this is our new EP, Acid Settee. These tunes are the fruits of a collaborative tug of war between the two of us, over the course of one English summer. Pretty much all the music here has been done remotely, starting with the editing of the other guy’s hardware jams, trading stems and samples, putting a different spin on something and sending it back just a little bit more broken, or just completely remixing something previously unfinished. Our tastes as individuals don’t always align so we’re proud to have been able to agree on something for long enough to compromise and get these beats finished and out there to find listeners. Aroma Nice and Earl Grey’s Monologue duo debut on Rua Sound with Keano Traxx. A playful study of technicolour breaks in 4 wide-eyed varieties, stuffed with tight drumfunk dynamics and melodic warmth.

A junglist’s haze shrouds the muzzled braindance ballistics of Monologue, a musical partnership that pairs a 15-year friendship in drum-cutting with a keen flair for melody. 2022’s debut EP Acid Settee for YUKU set the scene, now Rua Sound helps prize open further trails along their introspective club voyage.

Blood Trust advances the Digital Red Label Series with “To Live For” and “To Die For” – twin sonic assaults locked in at 170 BPM.

“To Live For” leads off with an undercurrent of jungle-inflected turbulence, strengthened by stark tech-step scaffolding and squelchy bass rumblings. A mechanical yet fluid syncopation rushes the momentum forward, carrying interlocking pieces that never seem to collide.

Descending further into darkness, “To Die For” joins fragments of hardcore punk samples with “Under the Skin” style string swells, punctuated by buzzing drum edits and driving percussion. A stripped back, steppy interlude eases the tension before the track reforms its menacing core.
