The Lifeforms SV-1b is a fully patchable synthesizer module, designed to be the heart and soul of any modular system. It features two independent, full-range analog oscillators. Rich and thick, the sound of the revered Pittsburgh Modular Filter is unmistakable, dripping with harmonic character over the entire voltage controlled frequency range. A collaborative effort between myself and SERTAVE ( https://soundcloud.com/sertavednb ).  140bpm, strongly influenced by UK Dubstep and 80s Industrial.  This song was bounced around between Maschine, Reaper and Fruity Loops, with many sounds being re-sampled from a Circuit Mono Station, a Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1, and original ensembles created in NI Reaktor Blocks, and subsequently granulized before arrangement.  The track's been kicking back and forth between us for a while now - this is version 52 of the song, and that's not even counting the original recordings that kicked it off.

The VRL plays another guitar-ish solo, with drop-thumb bassline built-in - that's all just emerging from the generative patch I built.  Other than a little reverb, there's no editing, layering, compression or other effects.  The richness of the tone that comes straight out of the VRL is really amazing. as is the twangy timbral profile.  I thought I'd have to get a physical modeling synth to get into this kind of terrain, but the VRL goes there.  I love it more and more.
