This one fits another vibe you've done a couple times so far, a kind of quirky IDM jumpy wacky bouncey thing with spoken samples.

This January, I'm challenging myself to create a new song idea every day for 14 days (January 9th-22nd) as part of the Seed to Stage “Jamnuary” Community Challenge! I did this for the first time in 2024 while learning Ableton Live, and I'm excited to dive back in. I'll try keep each session under 2 hours. Thanks for listening, and I’d love any feedback you have. Seed to Stage Jamnuary daily (or as many as I can manage) jam challenge for two weeks

FIRE DANCE

Recorded, mixed & mastered on 16 Jan 2025 by Jim Lemanowicz at Blissville Electro-Magnetic Laboratories of Massapequa. 

Using an AI-generated drum generator I had put together this week, I generated some midi, used some for bass and some for drums. I won't get into too many details but the sustained sound is a bassoon or sample or something. It reminded me a little of Cale's viola on the first VU.

For this I thought of some innocent with headphones on...in some 80s shock suspense horror film out for a walk after an argument with the parents unaware that they were being followed by some evil thing. Kind of lulled away from intense emotion and zoning out to something not too engaging but not without movement. Maybe the result of the Walkman's radio dial getting stuck after the device was thrown.

This might sound contrived but as I was coming up with this I was thinking of David Lynch's Wild At Heart and the loop of Wicked Game in the car crash scene. This was about 45 min before I knew he had died. I am sad beyond belief.

Jam 13 for the Seed 2 stage Jamnuary challenge 2025.  Today I made a Jam using a Pocket Operator.  I sampled sounds from some unusual instruments into the P.O. and used it’s built in sequencer to make some odd little tracks. From there I brought the recordings into Ableton and added a bass line and some samples of the somewhat forgotten British Botanist and TV presenter, David Bellamy, talking about Glow Worms.

based around a synth pad from the PS1 game "fluid". i added some lightly hand-edited dub drum loops, and later programmed a second kit to play call and response with the dub drums. a bass pulse was added to keep things moving. the "2001 space" patch from newfangled audio's generate synth was layered in, as was an improvised lead piano line. textural samples from mode audio and another PS1 game, "silent hill", help thicken the atmosphere. some quiet volume-faded guitar emerges before the closing vinyl slowdown effect (unfiltered audio's needlepoint vst).
