In my daily life, I listen to a big variety of genres which inspire me and instead of sticking to a fixed genre, naturally, I prefer to release something that drives me at that given moment regardless of the genre or style. Aside from podcasts, in general, I incorporate this mentality throughout all my productions. As music has been a continuous journey throughout my life, I believe that its hard to evolve and progress by staying in one area. 🙋🏻‍♀️ Hey everyone, welcome to the 2020 year-end edition of Undercurrents - it's a bit late as there was a bunch of other content to share before :)

It was spring 2019 when I first discovered Alexander Church and his   productions quickly found a regular place in many of my sets. Fast forward to early last summer when the invite came to collaborate on a new EP - a chance to do vocals for the first time for a project with real depth. It would become Configurations 12, my debut 4-track EP on @configofself just released on Dec.14th. 

Making everything from melodic soundscapes to industrial techno under a range of aliases over the last two decades, Alex draws inspiration from his own deep thinking, academic teachings, and passion for visual media. With his newly formed duo, Common Factors, alongside frequent studio partner @jameswelsh, he just launched the new sub-label Life Scripts January 11th, with the focus on experimental, ambient, electronica and breakbeat sounds. A good taste of which you'll hear in this mix. It's a fitting ending to a crazy year of challenge yet also one of new beginnings.
