Welcome to the first episode of Planet Release!

Planet Release is a place in the universe which is focused on new music, unpopular opinions, confessions and interesting guests. 

During this inauguration, we would like to invite you to the ride among our music selection from record stores and Bandcamp. Between the tracks we will be discussing also how digital platforms support (or do not support) artists. 

Our guest today is Luca aka @bornin1986, co-founder of Concentric Records @user-539507908, head of @roofbooking agency which  has impressive rider of artists: Christian AB, Quest, E/Tape, Etienne, Evan Baggs, Giammarco Orsini, Ivan Iacobucci and more.

Planet Release vol. 1 - Welcome! (guest: Born in 1986)

In the second episode of Planet Release we are diving into one of the most influencial genres in electronic music - UK Garage.

Going through different phases of UKG we observe raise, evolution and fall (actually good question is - have it ever really fallen?) of the London's music phenomenon.

We touch also phase of pirate radio station - exciting and at the same time very dangerous part of the scene. This and other topics we discuss with our guest who literally was there when UK Garage took over - @yosh_productions

Coming to conclusion that now UKG tracks are in a lot of dj bags and these tunes are treated again as secret weapons, we talk also with @monika-ross about her passion to the genre - as dj, producer and also listener. 

Our bitchy friend Ymal is also giving her opinions, none of us asked for.

Planet Release vol.2 - UK Garage (feat. Yosh & Monika Ross)

Summer is very slowly going to the end and in your third episode of Planet Release you can expect very summery topic! 

This time we will be talking about the festivals! Do we like them? Are we too old for them? Which ones stuck in our memories? What are the things going on behind festivals and a lot of ravers are unaware of?

When mentioning behind the scenes, we also invited Vladi from Sunrise Crew who is responsible for building THIS Sunwaves tent! Yes - the one who everybody knows and see in the pictures all over the year. Check how this journey started for him and get to know details of his work!

Planet Release - Background Music Special

With the 4th episode we are going deeper into topic of playing live sets in front of the public. How is that different from playing a dj set? How is it different from playing classical music with orchestra? How to transport the gear? How to survive 12h live set physically?

For those and more questions Julie Marghilano and best Berlin boysband Triptease kindly agreed to answer! 

Julie Marghilano (@julie-marghilano), founder of Sol Asylum (@sol-asylum-records) records and party residing in Berlin's cherished Club Der Visionaere/Hoppetosse will always be pushing herself beyond the horizons of musical limitations. She is a classically trained musician that knows the value of hard work and determination that is required to make a vision blossom into a living and breathing entity. Putting in numerous hours of study in and out of the conservatory for violin, Julie learned the discipline it took to master her craft.  While studying classical music, she realized that her true passion was more within the electronic sound spectrum; this led her to experiment with the electric violin and fully absorb herself into electronic music. 

Triptease (@triptease_live) is a cutting edge musical experiment performed by Topper, Jacopo, Francesco and Hugo, conceived in Turin and then transplanted in Berlin in the mid 2000s. Triptease live is a vision born on one of those inspired morning hours, opening up new ways of looking at the world. 
The idea behind their live performance stands for the best traditions of electronic music itself. They blend together polyrhythmic grooves and harmonic atmospheres in an uninterrupted flow of sound layers. Their live performance recreates the dynamics of studio improvisation where synths, guitars, samplers and drum machines interweave together endlessly.

Coming in hot for its second outing is Anthea & Velasco’s PILLZ imprint, this time they turn to Oshana to take care of business. Chunky dance floor action with an attitude from the Berlin based artist as she showcases her characteristic sound once more. The four track “Letting Go'' EP explores extensive territory, meandering between distinctive shades of electro, breakbeat, techno and acid energy from an outer place. 

First up is “Vindicator”, a tightly arranged trip, bubbling from the word go, leading you down a path of tension before opening up into a mysterious frenzy, eccentric synths wandering around the powerful forward motion of the track. Further spaced out transmissions that pack a punch in title track “Letting Go”, despite the raw tenacity of the track you can easily become lost in the depth of the production.  

Tasteful retro drums pave the way on the flip side in “Jah Rules”, conversing blissfully with the squelchy bass tones that flash in and out. Closing off the “Letting Go” EP is “E Motions”, a fierce electro whipper, ready and waiting to be propelled into a club setting, circulating the room, simmering as it begins to build a unique atmosphere on the dance floor, allowing the imagination to wander. 

A powerful quest through Oshana’s versatile vibe, essential underground moods for the hazy hours of the night.
