Time Wharp’s ‘Cole Dub’ single is taken off his forthcoming eponymous debut album, set for release via Astro Nautico in 12’’ vinyl and digital formats in May.

‘Cole Dub’ inherits the glorious soulful clarity and dancefloor efficiency of New York house. Bold chopped and resampled live drum patterns, warm organ stabs, and mantric vocal hooks provide the single’s rhythmic sediment, with saxophones and walled up synth bliss washing in and out of the stereo field for dynamic effect. Also included are album outtake ‘Tunnel,’ a drums-only ‘Cole Dub’ rhythm track and a remix by Step+Repeat, the debut of a collaboration between Atlanta producer Stefan Ringer (aka REKchampa) & keyboardist Chris Irvin.

Black Acre are definitely on a roll at the moment. With a discography already boasting heavy-hitters from the likes of Fantastic Mr. Fox, Romare and Dark Sky, they steamrolled through the past year with Clap! Clap!’s debut album Tayi Bebba - an afro-influenced funbag with generous amounts of footwork and bass around the 135bpm mark.

The Bristol-based imprint are refusing to pull the handbrake. They dip in again with a fresh rave-bunker from thrifty newcomer, Tsunga. Under Scratcha’s wing, Tsunga began his heavily distorted attack on the dance floor last year with the terrifying “Feisar”, melding a 92’ hardcore sensibility with grime’s ferocity. “Maris Piper” is fine chop and twist work. Built on Hulk-heavy low-end surges and relentless head-knocking breaks, it’s classic jungle techno at its best.

It arrives both digitally and on clear 10” vinyl on the 4th May 2015.

For his Studio Barnhus debut, Laurence Guy connects the dots between the lo-fi ambient investigations of his 2017 debut album Saw You For The First Time, the warm club sounds heard on All I See Is Her, last year’s standout 12'' for Tokyo’s Mule Music, and the London-based dj and producer’s long roots in deep drum’n’bass and dubstep soil. Searching for new ways to express himself, Maarten Smeets (one half of Detroit Swindle) has found a new perspective on music in his alter ego “Wanderist”. Here, he shares his unique view on contemporary electronic music with strong influences from dub, electro, techno and ambient in tempo’s that match the intensity, funk and drive of his sound. As Wanderist, he has been writing some of his more abstract work of recent times. His sound is melancholic yet euphoric, using powerful loops and dreamlike melodies to create a dense flow in his compositions. His debut release is signed to Aus music later in 2020 and he has also launched his own label titled ‘Transient Nature’ where his own work will be released along with the work of like-minded artists. With a large catalog of music ready to release and collaborations with various labels planned for 2021, the future is bright for Wanderist.
