The festival that made the East want to come West is back…

For the very first CIRCO Festival last year, Perth-based record spinner 'Sleepyhead' - who played at the event - put together a super-spiffy mixtape featuring every single one of the artists on the bill! Today, Sleepyhead serves up an exclusive CIRCO mix for ACCLAIM Magazine, featuring tracks from all of the artists playing at CIRCO 2014, including some special edits and brand new jams. 

CIRCO Festival takes place on June 28 at the Claremont Showground Pavillions, Perth, featuring a huge line up of music: international dancefloor brilliance by way of Ryan Hemsworth, Mykki Blanco, ODESZA, Nosaj Thing, Visionist, Beneath, Lakim, Esta, DJ Q and more (many of whom are making their first ever trip to Australia), and a truckload of Oz indie and dance music megastars, including Nina Las Vegas, Yahtzel, Violent Soho, Touch Sensitive, Kite String Tangle, the DMA's, as well as a whole stage of wave-making WA crew.

In addition, CIRCO's brought onboard a bunch of real-life circus performers to dazzle alongside the music, and has enlisted incredible visual projection artists Combs and Shadow Data to 3D projection-map the event – which means some world-class lighting effects.

Here is the Seth Troxler remix of the track 'I Try To Talk To You' which is co-written by the excellent John Grant. The track is taken from the album 'The Feast Of The Broken Heart' which was released on the 26th May.

The first vocal collaboration of the new album's recording sessions, John's sexy tomcat voice and lyrical ability for translating hardship into elegance lent themselves greatly to the new album.

Andy Butler explains: "I asked John to dig deep with his lyrical contribution. I had no idea he would dig so deep. He tackled the story of becoming HIV positive, and while I mentioned to him that he did not need to go there if he was not comfortable, in that beautifully punky, spirited and courageous way he has about him, he told me that was what the song was going to be about. What came of it is an elegant song featuring John singing and playing his heart out.”

'I Try To Talk To You' was released with remixes on the 9th June.

Dantze can also go a bit more experimental. To demonstrate this we give you Ryan Mathiesen's exciting and sarcastically titled debut EP, "Nothing New". Leading the straighter side EP are two fat remixes. The Nusto Remix, another debut, the first collaboration from Nu and Nico Stojan and it sounds just like that, deep and bumping. The Niconé remix is a super fun take on the original and sure to be a big floorfiller this summer. Ryan's originals are multi-layered and sample heavy and revealing something new with each listen. From the slow house title track to the nipple twisting James Brown party bumper to the deephouse-meets-pop dark horse ride, there is something for everyone on this EP right here. Enjoy.

Sorry that it took so long to get this show up. This one was definitely the hardest session to put together in our whole history of existence. We did this session from Oakland, CA right after our gig at the early hours of the morning and had many technical restraints including a bad mic. We're working on perfecting this show when we are on the road. No excuses. Due to limitations we made up for it by including a live recording of Dpat's recent set at our TSOT residency @ the Echoplex last Thursday. We also included a quick live set from Sivey while we played in London at The Nest during our EU tour. 

On the other hand we were hesitant about uploading this show because we are fearful of it getting taken down like our recent Show #171 which was taken down for 'Copyright Infringements'. This is a serious matter that is going on in the music/internet world -- especially on SoundCloud. UMG is taking more of an aggressive approach and we pretty much feel like we are walking on egg shells when it comes to certain remixes or original mainstream tracks that we play.
