Every morning without fail, just as dawn broke, a small boat would appear at the waters edge to whisk the most curious of people off to an unknown destination. The boat only ever returned empty, slowly it traced its routine daily journey back and forth across the calm waters. Rumours had long circulated about where those who boarded the vessel disembarked; some said it led to a utopian island, others attested to it taking people to their final resting place. Only those willing to take the risk would find out.

Aldonna's music is perfectly tuned for late nights on the floor; think of sweaty rooms filled with energetic dancers. The Melbourne producer came up through the ranks in the city with her party series Re-Leaf and is now expanding her name across the pond with her bright, supercharged productions. Her debut EP Morph, which comes with remixes from Alex Kassian and Marli, lets us into some of the influences that fuel her as a DJ, taking us on a nostalgic ride through warm proggy trance, euphoric rave and acid-laced breaks.

After some digital releases, brazilian label Easytiiger finally takes the plunge into the vinyl game with a four tracker by four local new acts ; Mootron, BRZLN Air, Cacos and San Y Mayo. “No Rave”, premiered here, is a rebellion-track led by drunken synthesizers by Mootron, oats between bending arps, sharp leads and echoverb nukes land on a big fat drum kick and bright laser shots hi-hats - no rave! “Detroit”, by the young producer BRZLN Air, contemplates an ode to the whole history on electronic music that made the american city be known for what it is : drums, synths and love, a pure obsession. Cacos brings to life his exquisite dream-lover “Sarah”, a dark & mystic techno combined whith elements of obscure chant rhythms - it’s Sarah. San Y Mayo closes the 4-song compilation marching from the sea into the jungle - you might know what to expect but it doesn’t mean it’s there. Legal cara!

PREMIERE : Mootron - No Rave

Brussels-based Play Label Records step up for the second instalment of their La Parenthèse House series.

The four track EP will be dropping both digital and vinyl.

On the A-side, Interstate delivers some irresistibly groovy house vibes, followed by Dancing Your Heartbeat, an even funkier track by Folamour.

The B-side is marked by a deeper and slightly more mellow atmosphere. Through House Resort by Siler and Flabaire, who have already been a part of the first La Parenthèse House edition, one dives into a loungy warmth. The final track comes from San Francisco born, Berlin based producer Yooj. He drops a multi-layered journey with a catching balance of emotional and percussion-driven energy.

As we enter our fourth year as a label, we welcome San Francisco based Chrissy to the Dansu Discs family for DSD017. He specialises in rave-influenced sounds, Chicago house, and disco, but his 20-year career has ranged from jungle to footwork to freestyle (he literally has it all!). His strong reputation as a ‘genre bending’ producer is one that is fully deserved and he proves just that in this record. On the B side we welcome back Soundbwoy Killah and Denham Audio, both providing a killer remix to top off one of our most exciting projects yet.
