Pretty buzzing to share this one, the first episode in my new radio residency with Madrid powerhouse, Radio Relativa. I've been listening to RR since before I even started DJing so a pretty nice full circle moment to be a part of a small piece of their output. Some show detail below:

Leaping without prejudice between styles, tempos and influences, UK-born and Barcelona based DJ Plot 45 uses the first hour of his show to showcase the very best in electronic music, newly discovered by him each month. Expect futuristic UK and leftfield techno, as well as the crushing frequencies of bass, breaks, electro and everything in between.

Rounding things off each month, a special guest DJ will take the reins for the second hour to deliver a mix that encapsulates their unique sound and style. For the first show of Plot 45's residency, he's joined by All Centre and Woozy alum Mossambi – an up and coming producer and DJ in the UK bass and experimental techno space whose debut EP "Resurf", on London-based label All Centre, released to huge acclaim. An incredibly diverse and innovative selector, Mossambi's mix traverses a wide spectrum of genres; expect twists and turn across his selections as he explores the more unexpected side of UK bass.

Plot 45 invites Mossambi on Radio Relativa – October 2023

For epppiiisssoodeeee 2 of my residency with Radio Relativa, I was joined by Catalan-Dutch brothers Martin and Guillem aka Iets Anders. For the first hour, the usual stuff from me, cruddy UK techno/UK bass at around 125 all the way up to 180, before cutting down to around 100bpm for the closing 15/20 minutes.

On the second hour guest mix, Iets Anders: together they are a production and DJing powerhouse, regularly playing all over Barcelona alongside having releases on one of the City's best underground labels, Noise Pollution Recordings. They are Kiosk Radio Outsiders residents and, alongside their own musical exploits, run one of the most exciting boutique parties in Barcelona: Echosystem. Expect thudding bass and fast rhythms as they give you a taste of what to expect from their musical endeavours.

Plot 45 invites Iets Anders on Radio Relativa – November 2023

Back on Radio Relativa this past month for Episode 3 of my Radio Relativa residency with one of the best editions yet. For the first hour, it's me with an hour’s mix of heavy-percussive leaning sounds, all taken from compilation EPs and artists donating proceeds from the releases to help those in need in Palestine. Tracklist is below with buy links if you want to cop.

The second hour guest slot is allllllllllllllllllllll POLYGLOT; a relatively new party in the Barcelona scene, focused on curating the best multi–genre underground nights with community at the heart. Their mix starts with dancehall before progressively flicking between dembow, techno, bass and heavy percussion – with some pretty sick twists thrown in. Headed up by MUCK and EYRA, they had this to say on their vision for POLYGLOT:

"We started POLYGLOT as a reflection of our musical tastes (seeing a gap in well curated multi–genre nights in the smaller venues in Barcelona). Our goal is to create a community that speaks to the mix of international and native people as part of the underground scene here. In general we aim to keep the direction for the music wide and encourage openness and collaboration from both the artists and the audience. Variety is the spice of life and done in the correct context, POLYGLOT aims to showcase and celebrate this."

Episode 4 of my Oct-Feb residency on Radio Relativa! First hour with me, as usual, throwing down some bumpy weird techno and bassy stuff before we welcome New York-based producer and DJ Ovid to take the reigns for the second hour! A pulsating mix that jumps between dark and moody percussive sounds interspersed with lighter house-leaning moments.

Ovid has seen his own music productions released on Ireland's Flood – a label with a focus on heavy drums and driving percussion, alongside multiple other self-releases, as well as being a regular on New York's The Lot Radio and in the local club scene.

Plot 45 invites Ovid on Radio Relativa – January 2024

Episode fiiiiiiiiiiive of five for this season on Relativa! The final show of my first season on RR takes a hard and fast turn as I explores half time rhythms in the first hour; spinning mutant dancehall and fast percussive techno, jumping around between 80/90bpm before heading north to 170/180 and back down and up and down and up and down.

For the second hour I'm vvvv pleased to be joined by Nostro Hood System label boss, Galtier, for a mix that’s as pounding and eclectic as the releases in the NHS back catalogue. Pushing forward unique leftfield techno and bubbling UK bass dripping with twists, Nostro Hood System steadily releases some of the most forward-thinking dance music in the game right now: spearheaded by Galtier. An esteemed producer and DJ in his own right, Galtier’s own productions can be brooding and melancholic whilst simultaneously being fast and chaotic. Celebrating the forthcoming release of a new co-EP on NHS with Druid, his mix encompasses everything that’s influencing him right now. Enjoy.

FIN Especial on Radio Relativa 15/03/24

Here at WE FORFEIT, we are always on the hunt. Discounted bread, free wine, even the odd compliment, all are fair game and very much appreciated. When it comes to music, a certain furrowed brow of seriousness is employed. 
Through our shows, interviews and mixes, we’ve tried to present electronics with a difference, electornics that make a difference. To the snowy peaks of Canada with Solvent, to the dusty plains of Almería with Mynationshit, our objective is giving a greater audience to what is already great. This month is no exception.
Travelling even furhter, the furthest in fact, this month is dedicated to Featherstone. This Australian artist, a talent that has graced labels like Gated Recordings, Nebulae and his own Ernest’s Way. He has a full hour long mix that collects acid, braindance, electro and techno while giving you some of his own unreleased works. Fantastic stuff and thanks Ben.

Galtier’s is an artist who hones in on amalgamation as the focal point of his output; his works occupy an expansive somatic energy that has evolved significantly over his decade-long presence in the global electronic scene.

Sporadic unexpectedness in rhythmic pace and structure coupled with a coagulated sense of mood is the formula for Galtier’s productions and DJ sets; a willingness to explore change and progression in sound while maintaining a sense of driven cohesion has been a driving force throughout his foray into sound design. 

The productions on both his 2018 'Terran' EP and his debut album 'Pulchra Es Elementis', released in 2021 are essentially 'Blade Runner soundtrack with Drums' utilising impactful, theatrical melodic qualities and borrowing heavily from Techno, UK Bass, world influenced percussive rhythms, Drum & Bass, Dancehall and Ambient. His distinctive interest in the myriad world of rhythm and percussion - coupled with a love for 1980’s science fiction & fantasy that he grew up watching - help sculpt these compositions into imaginative, thematic electronic tracks.

Later works have been experiments into raw signal music, heavily FM-oriented and further into the abstract alien. Galtier’s 2022 ‘Imitation Plantae’ EP and his latest 2023 release ‘Nausea Signal Studies’ are examples of said evolution, with the inclusion of hardware frequencies into the mix and a further delving into resonance and organic movement of processed noises. The palette is far more erratic and bulbous; the immenseness of the soundscapes have caved in on themselves, feeling more like a black hole than the spiritual vastness of space and the emotions that come with this sensation. 

Galtier has offered up mixes on reputable platforms that include Fact Mag, XLR8R, Inverted Audio, Rinse France and has contributed endlessly to the enormity of independent music publications that are making humble moves. Throughout, minimal restrictions on BPM and a desire to keep things ever-changing result in massive shifts in tempo throughout even a brief Galtier set. His cohesive understanding of music accompanied by his passion for creating his own unique and stylistic approach has won him admiration and respect on an international scale.

He has worked with such labels as Infinite Machine, NAAFI, [re]sources, TRRUENO, 10 Label and in 2015, Galtier introduced his own label Nostro Hood System to the world; nestled in the thematic concept as a label focused on the xenological discovery of an alternate galaxy to our own that sets out to showcase the musical artefacts that originate from it. The output has hosted releases from such production greats as Amor Satyr & Siu Mata, Atrice, Amazondotcom, Siete Catorce, Aircode, Avernian and Galtier himself.
