Thank you to the lovely people at Inonica Magazine for including me in their next issue. I have uploaded a couple of tracks on my as a collaboration for the magazine with the very sick visual artist Lou Jelenski.

The glass building soared high into the sky, its floor to ceiling windows reflecting the sun as dusk set in. He surveyed the city below him; from up here the people looked like tiny ants, much like the team of workers he now forced to do his bidding. It hadn't been easy for him to get to this level of superiority, he'd had to step on a lot of people to make it to the top; something only certain people could do without guilt or shame trailing them. The only trajectory he had set his mind on was upwards.

There's been a lot of good stuff coming out of the Programm camp: the London-based label dealing in "system frequencies to make you dance." Since launching with a VA of their nearest and dearest, they've set the tone for their explorations into breaks, dubstep and bass, following this up with their first proper EP: a four-tracker from D3U5E & Gav, that paid homage to conspiracy theories, obsession and corporate illusion. Now D3U5E returns solo to take care of the label's third release, delivering two tracks that showcase his own spin on shuffling bass-driven electronics.

Labour of Love gives the opportunity to our guests to showcase sounds that are near and dear to their hearts or might not often be given the chance to play regularly.

Our first guest stepping up to the plate is, Meanjin local rising star Scalymoth. Who is taking us on a journey through hard percussions and all things evil, in her own words - "I went full evil with this mix cause like, don't get to play this dark stuff out very often but I love it"
  
Over the last year, she has quickly cemented herself as one of Meanjin stapes. supporting the likes of Xclub, Jad & The  & Iti while playing at such events as Fem Fale, S.A.S.H, Yonder Music Festival & General Press. 

Her most recent feat has seen her join forces with many of Australia's talented South Asian artists to create a community-based creative collective called "Kerfew", with the main focus being to uplift their communities and showcase the wonderful talent they have to offer.

She has now begun to dip her toes into the world of producing and we couldn't more excited to see what is to come with releases on Besancon Rhytimique Club and Backpocket Slammers, she's definitely on our ones to watch this year.

Tunlaw Rd in DC was named after Tunlaw Farm which was located in what is now Glover Park. According to local legend during the Civil War many walnut trees were cut in that area to make gunstocks. To make the name more exotic Walnut was reversed into Tunlaw.

When France-born DJ and producer, Willis Anne isn’t finessing his spellbinding live sets and performing them in his home country of Germany, he’s curating club nights and releases for his own brand, LAN. A true hardware junky, from his productions you can expect complex polyrhythms, leftfield sound design and textural complexity. Whilst these off-kilter elements can all be found in Movement EP, it also features some more easily recognisable rhythms borrowed from styles like juke and breaks. Imagine a musical lovechild between Azu Tiwaline and Kush Jones. What more could you want?

We Out Here is the highly anticipated debut EP from Dublin’s Plus One on First Second Label. The prolific musical polymath lays down 4 sub-wrenching club tracks indebted to hardcore futurism with a canny pop sensibility.
Plus One is an alias of cultishly adored producer Matt Finnegan, a veteran beatsmith behind multiple productions for Irish rapper Kojaque, amongst other impressive credits on an expansive CV. He concurrently eyed up the dancefloor, stocking an impressive hard drive of unreleased club tracks that were subsequently rinsed heavily by the likes of Ben UFO, re:ni and EMA to name but a few. 
This is his solo debut proper, and comes impressively fully formed from the off. We Out Here starts the engines with a deliciously sub-y stepper of epic big room potential, with a fittingly large bassline to boot. Hood Up Head Down is suspended in an aqueous ambient-drowned RnB bath before unfurling into lush 2-step in romantic fashion. Kiki bobs assuredly along a breaks-y techno pulse amongst a twinkling twilight melody and an emotive reese-bass stunner of a line. Me concludes the EP on a necessary 160 tip, flexing a modern jungle rinse out with sharp amens and soaring melodic subs to round off this statement of intent. - Nevan Jio

Premiere: Plus One ‘Sweaty’

We're delighted to premiere the brand new track "BOMBER' from Plus One as he returns to Ar Ais Arís records following the spectacularly received ‘Bonk’ last April for the West of Ireland label and club night. This time, Plus One delivers a full five-track EP and the London-based Dubliner takes the opportunity to flex some bass heavy styles.

The EP opens with saucy summer garage, delivered over quivering bass and a killer vocal hook. Elsewhere, the intensity (and BPM) gets dialled up a notch on more energetic bangers like ‘I Can Live’ and ‘Sweaty’. The EP concludes with dark, dembow riddim ‘Zero Chance’, laden with bass and detail - a firm AAA favourite.

Four Four Premiere: Plus One - Bomber [Ar Ais Ar​í​s Vol 2]

Tied together by syncopated rhythms and broken beats, each producer featured brings their own style, tempo and atmosphere. The first release from this new imprint provides a range and depth that reflects Bristol’s musical versatility, from newcomer Syz whose contribution follows highly praised releases on Only Ruins and Brotherhood Sound System, to some of the city’s newest party starters to rise through the ranks.

The journey begins with Syz and Yushh, both showcasing intricate percussion and delicate melodies that roll with energy over subby baselines. On the flip, Mish brings a chugged out, wobbly techno treasure with hints of dancehall rhythms. Mulengasound then bringing the atmosphere and space, perfect for that warm-up transition and Balouu’s playful Egyptian melodies and strong, Arabesque synth-lines close the party.

All five tracks ooze individuality, yet subtly tie together with influences and sounds of a city that naturally nurtures progressive experimentalism. Pressure Dome’s offering is a fine example of burgeoning collective, with likeminded producers set on an uncompromising approach to the broken beat.
