Next we have a very special mix by underground experimental label Isla Visión of Buenos Aires, Argentina (soundcloud.com/islavision) to celebrate 10 years since the labels inception. Isla Visión is a really forward thinking label, where there is no limits on sound or artistic works to help promote their unique way of doing things. Its all analog sound with more primitive technology, with each different artist using their own setups, which is not about using the most up to date brand new equipment but rather being creative with old equipment.

How did Isla Vision start ?
Isla Visión was born because different alternative labels in Bs As did not want to publish our music, so we created the label.

What musical artists have influenced the label ?
We can't say a single one. Can, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, Muslimgauze, Black Flag, Esplendor Geometrico, Sun City Girls, the New York scene, and all Latin American psychedelia.

Why the use of older analog equipment ?
Because a lot of music that we admire is analog. Also because it is very expensive to buy new ones. But if we think about it, we can say that Argentina had a very long tradition of audio technology, a product of the industrial schools (technical schools). The golden age was in the years 60-70, the students who graduated from these schools were technicians, mechanics, or had different trades. And these technicians copied amplifiers, guitars and machines that did not exist in the country. So Isla Vision is the third or fourth generation of this tradition, but with the difference that today we solder pedal circuits, or synthesizer circuits and study electronic arts. All this goes into the home studio, where there are many Chinese-made things, a cassette and a roland.

Can you tell me your favourite top 3 tunes by Isla Vision and why ?
RSD (by El Versus) is brilliant because it makes you want to dance, it mixes different machines and sequences very well. islavision.bandcamp.com/track/radio-studio-dance. What is the underground music scene like in South America and is it growing ?
The scene is very good, especially the parties there is a lot of variety and quality. The parties can be in a basement, in an apartment or in a square.
Electronica predominates but there are also genres like cumbia, reggaeton that combine very well.

What are your favourite genres of music in everyday listening ?
I listen to music on the radio and a lot of folklore, punk and electronic techno, footwork & classic jungle.

Any plans for the future music wise ? new releases etc ?
Plans are: 1. Produce more more concerts / parties. 2. Publish the new single "medium" from El piyi (it comes out on July 26) (soundcloud.com/el_piyi)Symi's new album. And Publish a compilation of folk. 3. New mixes.

What things make you happy in life ?
Get together with friends to listen to music and produce. Read poetry. And when Chacarita Juniors wins.

El Piyi (live) - Synthetic Tales - 24.05.24

In this mix, Crash Id included some of his favourite tunes from his ripped tapes folder, primarily sourced from mail-order or pen-pal-type labels from the 80s. There are a few songs from contemporary artists and two of his own productions at the end. He has DJ'ed at clubs for over twenty years and now focuses on more deconstructed or experimental music. Everything comes and goes and then comes back again. Crash Id can certainly be found playing live music or behind a pair of decks at some crazy venue in Buenos Aires.

Manu Jaikin is a DJ, producer and co-founder of Alta Costura: experimental label and rave organizer from Buenos Aires, operating rhythms from 80 to 160bpm. In this mix you can hear club sounds going in and out, one hour spanning percussion-driven footwork, trap, techno and bass recorded in one take.
