San Francisco-based artist Griffin Crafts connects audiences and musicians through creation, curation, and community. As a producer and DJ, he blends acoustic and synthetic sounds from around the world into eclectic sets rooted in downtempo, slow house, and slow techno.

He has performed with an international array of artists including Snoop Dogg, Bonobo, The Glitch Mob, Modeselektor, Little Dragon, Emancipator, Nicola Cruz, Mira, Lee Burridge, Christian Löffler, Parra for Cuva, Dirtwire, Martha van Straaten, M.RUX, Lusine, Deru, El Buho, Barrio Lindo, History of Colour, O/Y, Iorie, Lotte Ahoi, Billy Caso, Wide Awake, Okaxy, Maugli, Caleesi, Sarah Kreis, Jo.Ke, Tor, Noema, Rumpistol, Olaf Stuut, David Last, Ramona Wouters, Pigmalião, Kraut, Uji, Sidirum, Nickodemus, Dreems, Luca Musto, Lemurian, MoM, Lola Villa, Barda, 7e, Nathan Hall, and Ground. He has recorded podcasts for Shika Shika (Buenos Aires/Paris), Freunde von Freunden (Berlin), Serafin Audio Imprint (Berlin), Tepeme Musica (Mexico City), Mesa Recordings (Santa Fe), and Something Else (Miami).

As an organizer, Crafts is emerging as one of the most innovative curators in the United States, bringing in numerous acts for US and California debuts. Relying on word of mouth rather than advertising, his events combine the best of underground music culture with forward-thinking aesthetics and professional production. He is a former curator of the long-running California campout Priceless, a member of the Shika Shika artist collective and label, and founder of the Strategic Reserve event series.

I sang about debauched bootleggers, mothers who drowned their own children, Cadillacs with only 5 miles to the gallon, union hall fires, floods. Darkness and cadavers at the bottom of rivers wasn’t for radio. There was nothing easy-going about the folk songs I sang. They weren’t friendly or ripe with mellowness. They didn’t come gently to the shore." NB The Radio KaraGkatsu eps are aural worlds without number; a sonic ventures interweaving music, sound, comedy, audiobook extracts, film dialogue, poetry, interviews, soundscapes and goobledegook.

Shika Shika is a global collective without owners for music without borders. 

We are inspired by nature, by tradition, by the past and by the future. Our direction is fresh, different, genre hopping organic-electronic-digital-folk.

Through intimate gatherings in unconventional venues, Strategic Reserve asks musicians and audiences "what are you holding back?"
