Hey Lovers, Fans and Haters, 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ is a track I made in 2019. It’s about some of the things that went wrong (in my opinion) in the so called Techno scene, before the pandemic forced us to press the Pause button. 

When listening to it now, it maybe sounds kinda strange. On the other side, I think the risk of falling back into bad Business Techno habits once the situation is under control is quite high. 
I personally still hope some things will change in a positive way, 
for artists, venues, labels and music fans. 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ was supposed to come out on an amazing label from France. I was super excited about this. 

But then my external external HD broke. Even though I was able to restore some stuff, a lot of files remain broke.  
Among those destroyed files were also many many files from 
my DAW, so a lot of unreleased and unfinished stuff I made in the past years 
is probably lost forever. 

That sucks, but I’m gonna record new music - for the French label and for you.

So I decided to upload the (of course unmastered) Mp3 of „When The Circus Comes To Town“ to my SoundCloud and make it a free download for you out there.

Als ich Sophie mal in ein Lineup geschrieben habe, musste ich fünf mal nachschauen, wie man ihren DJ-Namen nun eigentlich schreibt. Jetzt musste ich schon wieder nachgucken: 50PHIE yeah!
50PHIE, die “Paranoid” von Black Sabbath und “You’ll never walk alone” auf der Blockflöte spielen kann. 
50PHIE, deren größtes Geheimnis ist, dass sie Tech-House liebt.
50PHIE, die erstmal die abgebrochenen Tonarme ihrer damaligen Plattenspieler anlöten musste, um mit dem Auflegen überhaupt anfangen zu können und später dann regelmäßig im Conne Island Proberaum anzutreffen war, um auch an CDJs zu üben.
50PHIE, bei deren ersten Gig ever in einer Kneipe nur ein Plattenspieler da war und bis ihr Mitbewohner einen zweiten von ihr mitgebracht hat, musste sie zwei Stunden eine schlechte mp3 vom Laptop, der zufällig da war, spielen und dann wieder eine richtig gute Platte.
50PHIE, die von sich behauptet, sie sei mega faul, wenn es ums Üben bzgl. des Auflegens geht, aber an anderen Stellen scheinbar acht Arme hat und einen 48h-Tag, wenn sie Studium, Ehrenämter und Arbeit im Institut für Zukunft, Conne Island und und und jongliert, sowie die 138 Doodle-Listen für gemeinsame Aktivitäten mit ihren Freunden. 
50PHIE, die die Gabe hat so sehr für Leidenschaften zu brennen, dass sie diese z.B. im Proberaum auch weitergibt an andere Mitmenschen.
50PHIE, die eine Hälfte von „Stoffi Graf“ und „Nur Show Kein Techno“ und Gang-Member von G-Edit ist. 
50PHIE, die ihren Weekender-Closing Gig 2019 mit Marlene wohl niemals vergessen wird und von ihren „Stoffi Graf“ Gigs nur noch die Hälfte erinnern kann, aber es waren immer die besten!
50PHIE, die wenn sie die Musikszene verändern könnte, die Arbeitsbedingungen in Clubs verbessern würde und die Heterogenität und Diversität, die ja der Clubszene gerne nachgesagt werden, auch in den Lineups und Arbeitsverhältnissen widerspiegeln ließe.

Liebe Sophie, weißt du, was ich denke? Für diese letzten Wünsche von dir an die Musikszene tust du sehr viel in Leipzig, denn du gestaltest mit dieser Motivation die Szene mit, wo du nur kannst und dafür sind ich und viele andere dir sehr dankbar!
Danke für deinen voller Sehnsucht ravigen Oktobermix du liebster „Techno-Heini“!

deutschland canceln | shutdown soundtracks was the very last event at ://about blank in 2020 - and erik jäähalli gave us this powerful live set as the most beautiful parting gift for a long winter which is still ahead of us all. 

with his live set, erik prepared us musically for the demolition of the garden dancefloor which took place that night - a touching and powerful moment for everyone around that night, reflecting on the fragility and transience of club culture in these times, where everything only appears as a faint reminiscence of what we used to know - but will hopefully become as powerful again as the music played that night.
