Hear Me Knockin'

This is our first attempt at a modular track...ever...and our first demo for February Album Writing Month this year. (A late start, but we're trying new things, so what can we do?) 

Gear used: Modular synth (Tip Top CB808 + other FX), Yamaha CS01, Behringer Model D, Crash Pad, Super Space Drum, Yamaha REX 50 (for reverb).

method: plain reading, no frills, even breathing is still audible
narration: it's spring. the title refers to an aesthetic category introduced by alexander gottlieb baumgarten (1714-1762). the 'expatriate poet' referred to is peter russell: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Russell_(poet) and also https://www.emt.it/riviste/marginalia/Marginalia17.pdf (1994) .... the 'first child' was of course mine, not pr's. any autobiographical relations, though, are purely incidental .... poetry is a category of fiction after all.

in the harsh light of a spring noon
the darling buds of leaves turn vibrant
early flowers rejoice in voluptuous infamy

he looks at the sketch of a tea mug
resplendent with exterior colour, then
realizes the real mug in front of the empty canvas

all the houses around him sport antennas
dishes, connecting them to the unseen
unheard, intangible levity of the pertinent ether

once, he spent a fortnight in tuscany
met an expatriate poet who lived in a mill
writing on in the tradition of ezra pound

his first child still had to be carried, then
bulging in front of his chest, strapped tightly
with a length of blue cloth, iridescent

he takes in all of this transient splendour
as a plane's tremor rips open his awareness membrane
reminding him of the first lines of eliot's waste land

This is a variation of a sort on a musical fragment which appears in the theme  music for the TV series 'All Creatures great and Small' and also in  the first movement of my Tripartite Fantasy and is  constructed as a free flowing set of improvisations on a simple basic idea This simple idea is treated in a linear polyphonic way resulting in a texture which moves between consonant and dissonant harmony ending on a C major chord.
