@lloydfears is a Berlin-based MC, performer, and artist from the North of england. Their EP Saint & Ogre is the first solo project on POSTWORLD.

After the cathartic release of lockdown anxiety on Gressive [Infinite Machine] and the delicate re-emergence into the outside world on Self-Soothe [xenonyms], on this new project lloydfears brings listeners along on a shared exploration of the possibilities of hope. Over four tracks, Lloyd uses hope as an emotional and logical response to the daily dose of dystopia.

Based in Buenos Aires, Cimarrón is a producer and sound artist who creates hyper-contemporary, genre-fluid compositions that blur the boundaries between experimental club music and Latin rhythms. His debut EP Sin Cara, Sin Nombre [NODO label] narrated a liberating process of profound inner change through heartbreaking yet euphoric club beats.

His second project, Rubí/Zafíro, is in a sense a continuation of Sin Cara, Sin Nombre. Here, Cimarrón delves deeper into a club-focused sound, offering stomping drums over harsh euphoric synth leads, without compromising his experimental approach to sound design or his Latino influence. Yet in another sense, it is a great departure. In contrast to the at times gloomy mood of his debut, this new EP celebrates the bliss of expressing oneself, in a cheerful and exciting way.

Tufi is an Argentinian DJ, producer, and sound engineer based in Berlin. In their artistic output they allow a diversity of musical genres to converge through wild, experimental productions and DJ sets. While exploring eclectic and deviant niche electronic subgenres, Tufi relentlessly hops between styles, enchanting listeners with hard-hitting breakbeats and blissful sonic sensations.

Tufi has some exciting collabs on the way with Digitonica, Oliver Torr, Candie, land_scape, and personalbrand. Definitely one to watch.

Congealing distorted vocals, twist-turn rhythms, and an eerie screeching synth within a tense, expansive soundscape, Fuck Hope is a can't-miss cut from Kenji Araki's new album Hope Chess, out today on Affine Records.

Originating amidst a time of artistic and personal transition and maturation, Hope Chess is the sophomore album by Kenji Araki, a Vienna based digital artist and musician with roots in Japan.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sonic influences and practices, the album is home to calculated subtleties, bold juxtapositions as well as a unifying tapestry of texture and harmony. Though Kenji Araki’s musical situatedness in a heterogenous web of post-club approaches stays evident, Hope Chess takes a more leftfield turn. It defies potential expectations built up by Kenji's debut record Leidenzwang and shifts to a more introspective sound, granting the melodies, vocals, and textures more time and spatial freedom to unfold.

Moments of serenity interweave with controlled eruptions, conveying feelings of vulnerability and catharsis. It’s an honest reflection of Kenji’s personal life throughout the last year. Negotiating matters such as sincerity, introspection, and collective trust, offering counter-narratives to the literal idea of hope chess, namely letting others’ actions and missteps determine the outcome. Instead, the record is a sonic embrace of community and immediacy.

PREMIERE: Kenji Araki - Fuck Hope [Affine]

W.ANNA.W (@0i8ndx78ay8s) has had an impressive 2023, releasing a solo project on Tokyo's Mizuha and a collaborative EP with Quit Life on Soul Feeder.

Her POSTWORLD debut is arguably her most experimental output yet. On the first track, 0, W.ANNA.W masterfully manipulates a noise recording of a car engine, showing a calm curiosity by pulling out layers of intriguing and eerie textures from this most mundane of sound sources.

But this is just a prelude. The second track's title, 剣片喰 (Kenkatabami), is based on the sword, an image that represents the shape of W.ANNA.W's family crest. Traversing ideas of personal history and tradition, W.ANNA.W incorporates taiko drums and koto to express a martial spirit, arranging these alongside a range of microsounds into a dramatic shapeshifting piece that at times brings to mind the organic thump of gorge.

This fascinating two-tracker is accompanied by a newly commissioned artwork by Morgan Patimo.

On his 𝙔𝙜𝙜𝙙𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙡 EP, his productions burst and blossom, rooted with grimey basslines while vibrating percussion shoots all the way up to the canopies.

In Norse mythology, the Yggdrasil tree connected the many realms of the universe, linking gods, giants, and mortals. Here, Undrwght connects his many musical influences to draw in listeners whatever their natural or supernatural status.

At Her Open Door is an experimental music project started in 2007 by Japanese artist Taiki Kobayashi. He has previously released the album FLIR on CHINABOT and the EP Demon Stinger on formforum, and has participated in compilations for Magdalena's Apathy and Subsist Records.
