After a decade's silence (!?) Raw Village Hall is back with a second EP of hardware-based breakcore and rave-infused machinations. Following on from 2014's Nothing But Mediocrity at the Shows (Acre Recordings), Edinburgh's Gregg Davies drops follow-up Not Even Close. Davies produces as Raw Village Hall, Savier and (with Ingen) as Savagen and, whether the focus is amens and breakcore or mid-tempo industrial, Davies has a distinct raw, hard edged sound with a strong dancefloor focus. Not Even Close pummels with classic amens, hoovers, heavy reeses and industrial kicks and these, coupled with tight production and arrangements, mean this EP will be become a go-to choice for DJs.
