"Those not familiar with Jones’ style, will listen slack-jawed at the shear anticipatory nature of his sound collage. The five lengthy tracks are based on hypnotic and somewhat menacing grooves: a repetitive dub bass beat, waves of Middle Eastern strings and voices, layers of building hand percussion. Each track is respective but the washes of sound/percussion come and go often creating a sense of motion and change. All of the tracks are similar and even share elements. Mid-East tension is so accurately captured through the use of the regions instrumentation (especially percussion), sinister electronics, samples of men chanting, women crying, sounds culled from the horrors of war, and occasional angry distortion that the listener’s listener will be transported to the belly of the beast.
‘Mullah Said’ displays two aspects of the work of Muslimgauze. Firstly, musically, it is in the delightful drifting ambient vein. The percussion is mainly acoustic hand drums - providing a rhythm of aural features - the trademark shimmering string sound heard on a number of releases is much in evidence, rhythms are generally slower, there are lots of samples of people speaking in conversation, markets wherever. ‘Mullah said’ opens the disc with the lovely mix of these sounds. ‘Every grain of Palestine sand’ continues the mood, with a slightly faster tempo, and more emphasis on the beat. But it soon locks into a mesmeric lassitude as various effects echo or smear the sounds, drums come in for short moments, different string sounds enjoin the play. ‘Muslims die India’ follows the mood though the voices seem darker, sadder, and then comes ‘Every grain of Palestinian sand’ followed by ‘Muslims die India’. Yes - not a typo, these tracks are repeated. Muslimgauze trend - to remix himself.  Prime Muslimgauze middle eastern ambience - if you like that side you will love this album. The final track is short and different, a crackling ground over which a singer chants a song interrupted by machine-gun percussive bursts - ‘An end’."

"Those not familiar with Jones’ style, will listen slack-jawed at the shear anticipatory nature of his sound collage. Initially released by Staalplaat in 1999 (the same year of his passing away) as part of the ‘Box Of Silk And Dogs’ comes out again as a double LP. He was a cult artist, politically motivated for the arab-palestinian cause and a seminal experimenter of the ethnical samples’ use with minimal and electronic rhythms. The atmospheres retain intact the original charm made out of full and gloomy, but pulsating in the provoked emotions, very different from the exotic and ornamental processing of certain world music. Drum machines, old synths, percussion, all combined in a traditional way, without any computer help. Sounds anyway already permeated with what will have come, drawing on different genres but always supporting a specific poetic. “Peace is a distant dream” Bryn Jones said, in one of his latest interviews. He died for a rare blood disease, and on both sizes things seem to unfortunately still be the same.
Ingaza is thematically and stylistically all over the place, sporting atmospheric instrumental loops one moment and jarring, heavily barbed and distorted beats the next. Differences between tracks, not unlike changing channels on TV or switching between net browsers, predominate, imagery conjuring Middle Eastern travel and tourism on one screen plays against grisly proxy war footage on the next. The only threads linking these tracks were made during Jones' grittier production-cum-dub days during the last years of his life.

Disciples of Jah Shaka, Iration Steppas and Aba-shanti, but based in faraway Japan, G36 have chosen to fiercely mess with Roots, whilst consciously steering away from the stale formulas of conventional reggae.  Instead they channel the pummelling attack of stripped back steppas  rhythms via their passion for manga, science fiction and S&M, into brutally overdriven, ballistic dancefloor weapons. Like Mark Stewart + Maffia versus Underground Resistance for dread dub militias.
 
The ‘Vex Riddim’ included here, provided the backing track for NAZAMBA’s
recent killer 12”, ’Vex’ on PRESSURE, which Kahn, OBF and Don Letts spun mercilessly.
 
‘Floor Weapons Vol.1’ has already received support for the relentless riddims
from the likes of Optimo, Jk Flesh, Ishan Sound and OSSIA (Who will release their follow up single on his Hotline label imminently).

»KAMILHAN; il y a péril en la demeure« is the conclusion of a 5-part cycle of works by artist Grischa Lichtenberger which was initiated with the album »LA DEMEURE; il y a péril en la demeure« in 2015 and continued with the triple EP release »Spielraum, Allgegenwart, Strahlung« in 2016.
In addition to the concept of „demeure“, ones residence as a symbol for the joy and artistic possibilities one can find in isolation, Lichtenberger places a further emphasis on the expression of the voice, represented by the word „Kamilhan“. „Kamilhan“ is a non-existent word, an expression that Ernst Bloch once mentioned in an anecdote about his childhood. Fascinated by its sound but without knowing its meaning, it remained vivid in his memory in its purely „material“ form.
Lichtenberger also refers to this childish perception of language. Words that we do not know, but repeat in our thoughts until they become insignificant. Lyrics in a foreign language that we do not understand and still sing along and imitate. With computer-generated voices, Lichtenberger tries to reproduce these experiences. In his tracks we hear syllables and phrases that are similar to words and that seem familiar to us, but whose meaning remains a secret.
As on the previous album, the tracks on »KAMILHAN« are constantly torn apart and reassembled. Borrowings from hip-hop and even pop are unmistakable, desired, and yet delusive. Rhythms that are repeatedly broken in order to re-organize themselves into new temporal patterns. Melodies that are pierced by precisely these intricate rhythms. Voices that lack any empathy due to their artificiality.
Lichtenberger himself describes these tracks as „crooked ballads“, which, by deliberately following classic pop song structures, try to sell us the absurd as the normal, and in turn smuggle some hope of recognition into the absurd.

Mainly focused on the broad thematic areas of horror and porn probing their holiest and sacrilegious sides — the newly formed label Deviant Pleasures debuts with a 4-artists x 10-tracks split EP on tape.
Arcane and macabre outset for Autumns’ side “A Life Has No Glory”; “Be Desire”s vocal is indeed creepy solemn and sets the mood very vividly.
It continues with 2 with crushingly glacial heavy tunes that captures the Irish artist in constant flux. Ruthless but always occult-oriented; twilight tracks that confirm Autumns' great traits: eerie industrial visions, with heavily post-punk ascending. Signs his side with "Found It", frantic incantations erupted by fierce and inexorable snare; and the composition becomes even epic.
Autumns’ side, sets up a lugubrious environment, a boundless night that will not be long in assuming mystical connotations. A5, is the crowing glory, delivered by Exhausted Modern covering an injected electro remix of "Be Desire”, such a broadening of the stylistic palette of the Prague’s artist. It’s a deep melodic twist which leaving the sceptre of the Todtentanz-danse ritual, destined to unite in a total, almost metaphysical oxymoron.

Undisciplined bad mojo on the B side, by AIR LQD. Esoteric horror tunes which evoke many other nostalgic ghosts along the way. It starts with the gloomy “Supervised Entertainment”.
Follows the abrasive vocal of “Devil Made Me “Do It”. Rooning groove where the voice arrives like a horrific hallucination, a monstrous subconscious presence; Mega-cinematic solid 3rd track, "Infinite Lockdown”: violent sound for violent human-condition. Impassive burial spirit, injecting tension which seem to bring to completion a long inward travail.

The most incantatory is the B4, soundtrack for a long inner turmoil resolved in a moving spiritual landing place. An exaltation of the most obscure and spiritual aspect, declined with rare creativity.
Proceedings soon escalate into berserk and magick electronic hysteria. Close the EP, Eduardo’s remix of A1. Thick, almost arrogant UK influences, which however leave room for the overworked machine-sounds that are the signature of made-up-contrasts sound of Eduardo. It marks the expiation of the boundless pain and anguish of an entire EP, the sweet landing in the melancholic hope, the moving vision of the starry and luminous sky after having crossed the underworld of the soul.
