"The wizard had grown weary, the pressure and machinations of his earthly presence had worn him down. He had injected much of himself into his creations it was the only place left he could find true solace. But even with the weight it posed, it had left him with a feeling of joy for all the genuine connections he had a chance to form to others and the feelings his creations was evoking in people.

At an opening in the cave overlooking a vast swaying field drenched in moonlight, he doffs his cape, uncovering below his true nature; a prince of beauty, radiating kindness and pure essence.

He takes one last breath before his being bursts into stars that swirl upward and disperse into the night sky, leaving nothing but his cape on the earthen floor; with markings reading “infinita”.

Bio/
Upwellings is a Dub-Techno project created by the protean musician Vincent Raude. Cultivating a minimalist approach to techno and a strong affinity for micro-textures, he produces hypnotic music that draws its roots and techniques from Jamaican dub masters. Numerous EPs have been released on various labels since 2008. These productions have earned him the support of artists such as Alexkid, Laurent Garnier, Cio D'or, etc...and he has been working with labels Telrae ), MOSHItaka, Tiefenrausch, Spclnch, Greyscale, Dimensions Recordings for EPs that were very popular in the Dub-Techno's network. Performing exclusively live, from clubs to festivals, from Berlin to Montreal, it is on stage that Upwellings gives its whole meaning to the word "Dub."

Maidstone-based veteran selector Tomas Bexton - hot on the heels of his recent appearance at our last event @ OverDraught in Levenshulme, Manchester - here delivers his 3rd mix contribution for Avenue Red. This time Tomas is keeping things on the firmer side, with some icy blasts from the past in the world of deep, pulsating abstract techno. Feel the turbulence.

"Obviously delighted and honoured with a third appearance on the musical vortex that is Avenue Red! My intention was to do something different to my other Avenue Red sets and attempt a dub-techno mix. However, this was the result.

I went digging back into my humble techno collection, with some of the records featured purchased when I was still a teenager. Recorded in one take using 100% vinyl, this is about as hard as it gets for me. I hope that it resonates... big love to the global Avenue Red crew!" Tomas Bexton, May 2025

For our fourth release, we welcome Basel-based producer Ben Kaczor. ‘To Baby Bones’ showcases the tracks produced as part of Ben’s first live set presented at Above Below Festival in 2024. 

Written as a homage to a loved one, the title track of the EP is a gentle soundscape traveling through memories and subtle body shivers, far away yet never out of heart’s reach. ‘Bridge’, as if hung high above, suffuses the air with a thick emotional haze, lifting slowly as a walk along a fragile structure ends. Wistfully transforming present into past, ‘This Blue Light’ melds with the orange glow of the sun and dissolves into a white cloud. Driving and fizzy 'Punchbag’ brings all the dreamers down to earth. Immersing them straight into the buzzing front left, it buoyantly concludes an ode to the melody of life and the joy of a loving heart — To Baby Bones.
