I’ve been hearing about this Vancouver Island festival for years from some of my favourite people.  One of B.C.’s most beautiful beaches, well curated diverse lineup focussing on Island Talent, while pulling some big names.  I missed the deadline to apply last year, and wanted to be sure to come on strong this year.  I mixed this one time in my studio based on a closing slot I performed at Kwench’s Halloween Jam a week previous.   It was a sweaty mess and I figured it would be a strong demo. Primitive Halloween Stomp 2024

Toronto to BC dude who digs new stuff that sounds old and old stuff that sounds new.

In an era of pre-recorded sets and prima donnas who are more in love with the spotlight than they are the music, it’s words like these that solidify Ian’s reputation as a premier house DJ. A rōnin who’s traded swords for turntables, Ian’s been a veteran of the U.K. music scene since 1989. From Spain to Holland, from Hawaii and beyond, Ian’s sought-after skills have landed him gigs in cities around the world. And now as a resident of Victoria, B.C., Ian brings his hard-hitting beats to venues across Canada. One simple rule guides him and the party-goers in attendance: if you come out soaking wet, then you know you had a good night.
Music has always been in Ian’s blood. A classic rock father and a pianist mother ignited the flame that he carries with him today, a pedigree that his daughters now share. For Ian, music isn’t something for your ears to enjoy; it’s a way of life—something that you live and breathe. As Ian states, “I can’t relate to people who say, ‘I used to be a DJ.’” 
For more than 20 years, Ian has been revitalizing dance floors.  Along with his own label (Keep Warm Recordings) and shows around the world, his decisive passion for the industry shows no sign of slowing down. What keeps him invigorated is that rapport with the crowd. Whether a state-of-the-art venue or a 300-person room, everything hinges on that connection.

A dedicated music enthusiast, TIGRESS has always had a deep connection to the dancefloor. It was in 2013 when she stepped up to the decks and quickly proved herself to be a natural, earning her stripes with her flavorful taste. Since then, TIGRESS has been playing shows across BC and delving into the realm of music production. Anticipate her upcoming EP and a collection of releases in 2025. With her infectious energy and keen ear for music, you can expect to hear some House-y, Tech-y, Bass-y goodness! Based in Victoria, TIGRESS is proud to be a founding member of The PLUR Collective, and actively contributes to the organization of queer-centric, body positive events that continue a legacy of activism and radical politics within the dance community.

There’s nothing ancient about Primitive’s sound or technique.  Pushing the DJ and rave lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest since 2000, supporting the music community by creating a slew of residencies, coordinating gigs for other DJs, promoting shows and developing the community through platforms like Party People Sound Solutions, Primitive Hustle, and PK Sound Victoria.  Strengthened through many collaborations, creating connections and culture; trailing a wake of blissed out revellers. All Primitive ever wanted was to rock a party and he is guaranteed to create a sweaty mess on the dance floor.  Primitive’s sound connects the dots between Techno, House, Breaks and Acid, while also dabbling in offshoots of Drum and Bass including Footwork, Juke, Half Time, and Jungle.
