Here we are at Lizard King Lounge #7.  This series is mined from live recordings from my residencies at local lounges.  Wednesdays at The Mint have become an all time favourite weekly- because I get to play sets like this.  This hour is chunky, funky, electro, booty, breaks badness.  Hope you enjoy.  I love hearing how these mixes turn out- as I never have a plan- just living in the moment, sound tracking for the the people there with me.

In an era of pre-recorded sets and prima donnas who are more in love with the spotlight than they are the music, it’s words like these that solidify Ian’s reputation as a premier house DJ. A rōnin who’s traded swords for turntables, Ian’s been a veteran of the U.K. music scene since 1989. KIZABA, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète et multi-instrumentiste, pionnier de la musique électro Afro-Congolaise, basé à Montréal,Canada, qui chante en français, anglais, kikongo et lingala. En 2022, pour sa première tournée aux États-Unis d'Amérique, en Louisiane, il ouvre le festival, sur la scène principale, de l'historique Festival de l'histoire du jazz à la Nouvelle-Orléans Jazz & Heritage. Festival avec un line up de grands artistes comme Lionel Richie, Ceelo Green, Charlie Wilson, Kelly et Foo Fighters, etc. Il a également joué pour le public du Festival international de Louisiane et s'est déplacé en Europe pour présenter sa musique en Angleterre au Festival Africa Oyé. Il a fait spectacles au Canada, au Québec, en Colombie Britannique et à travers le monde sur les différents continents.

Au début de sa carrière, il a accompagné, pendant plusieurs années, le professeur de jazz François Mantuila Nyomo, son oncle, l'un des guitaristes les plus réputés du continent africain.

Kizaba <<Afro-Futuriste Planétaire>> cherche à insuffler aux sons afrobeats, électro, house et à la musique contemporaine des mélodies et des rythmes issus des traditions congolaises, créant un univers afro-futuriste unique fortement inspiré de la tradition Congolese et Africaine. Il est sapé comme jamais. La « Sapologie" fais partie de son mode vestimentaire.

Le spectacle de Kizaba offre un style musicalement riche qui rappelle le
Congo qui constitue un voyage afro futuriste "Fumu na betu", pour lequel
il crée des vocalises inspirées de ses ancêtres et mêle des sonorités
de soukous-congolais, d'afrobeat et de pop rock. Sur scène, il utilise sa voix, la batterie et des percussions en mélangeant la musique électronique et les sons traditionnels du Congo pour créer un univers afro-futuriste.

Pour faire vivre aux spectateurs une expérience complète, des visuels avec des
masques 3D et des images personnalisées et réalisés en partenariat avec des plasticiens congolais. Le design est conçu par KIZABA et inspiré des masques traditionnels du Congo. Il les imagine dans le futur et ils sont projetés derrière les musiciens sur scène  créant une atmosphère captivante digne d’une autre dimension.

Sur scène, il est accompagné de musiciens (un guitariste congolais, un guitariste rythmique rock et un DJ). A travers sa musique électronique afro-électro congolaise, fascinante et électrisante, KIZABA offre une expérience unique et électronique. 
KIZABA propose un spectacle rassembleur qui fera bouger les foules !

Depuis juillet 2021, Kizaba a sorti 4 singles : Soso, Naturelle, Tu aimes danser et Kituamina. Son deuxième album ‘'Congolese Musique'' sortira en novembre 2022.
Récemment, Kizaba a participé au Mundial Montréal et prépare son nouvel album ''Congolese Music’’, dont la sortie est prévue à l'automne 2022.
