On the surface, it sounds like it’s about a bad relationship. And in a way, it is. But the real story underneath is about struggle — the kind that happens quietly. Internally. On loop.

For me, that struggle was/is addiction. Two years sober but even now, there are days I still feel the pull — the voice that says, “Just one more time.”

But I know this song could just as easily be about depression. About grief. Or a version of yourself you need to walk away from.

“Dead” is about struggle. The part of healing that isn’t clean or triumphant. The part where you’re still haunted by the past, even when you’re trying to move forward.

If you’re fighting something or struggling with anything — I hope this song reminds you that you’re not alone and you’re not broken.

Dead

"Yesterday" started with the image of two people reaching for the same thing at a grocery store, but formed into something more as I wrote. 

Sometimes memory is flawed; whether we're reminiscing about the good times - not paying attention to the stuff that maybe wasn't so great, or thinking about the ways we've been wronged - while overlooking all the wrong we've done ourselves. 

Built on punchy over compressed drums, driving bass, and a fair amount of synth, it’s indie pop with an alt edge—bright and bittersweet.

PriorGhost - Yesterday

"Lo-fi-synth-folk-emo-pop"... maybe. PriorGhost is just me—DIY—writing, recording, and producing everything in a tiny upstairs landing turned makeshift studio. Music has been a major part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I wrote and performed acoustic indie/folk music in the Portland (OR) area for years, there wasn't a day I didn't pick up my guitar. As I got busier, and life got crazier; music just faded away into the background, a big part of who I am faded along with it. I didn't write or make any music at all for 8 years.

I was able to start making music again in late 2024 and all the pieces I had been missing started to come back. Leaning into production made music accessible again, headphones on while everyone is asleep. 

Some things haven't changed; every song is personal, likely messy and honest, maybe strange. But the process and the sound has, and continues to change. Blending synthpop, lo-fi textures, and indie electronic. The songs feel intimate and a little haunted: woven from synths, live instruments, and vocals shaped by fable, experience, and struggle. I'm finding a new sound, every new song is different and better than the last. We'll see where it goes... I hope you enjoy it!
