This music of many-layered depth is produced with just four instruments at any given moment. Jane Harbour (violin/viola), Jon Hunt (acoustic guitar/cello), Alex Vann (mandolin) and Jason Sparkes (piano accordion/piano) break through the boundaries of their instruments and play them in unconventional ways to create music that has variously been called “dazzling", "magnificent", "intense and minimal", "soulful", “passionate" and "breathtakingly moving”.

The title of this particular track is a line from The Song of Amergin, from the Robert Graves work The White Goddess. 

"Amergin was the bard of an early race of Gauls called the Milesians. It's an invocation they offered when they were about to invade Ireland and were hit by a massive storm, following which the sea became calm."

Spiro - I Am The Blaze On Every Hill

German DJ producer Thorsten Hammer debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the superb two tracker Black Hole EP. Thorsten grew up with the early 90's German sound and frequented clubs such as Omen and Dorian Gray, this is when he really fell in love with electronic music. After many years of DJing he decided he would try to find his own unique sound. In 2011 he started up his own label, Ametist Records which focused on bringing in new talent and Tech House and Deep House with room left for some Techno. Aside from Ametist his tracks have been released on a hugely impressive amount of labels. Delighted to have him on board.

We kick off with Black Hole Breakfast with its bright intro packed full of snappy snares, crispy hats and punchy kicks. A deep, probing bass soon follows with an accompanying chord to get the groove flowing. Cool vocal one shots litter the sound and give a nice added texture to the vibe. In the background various pads and strings are on the rise and give way to a warbling riff that soon dominates for the duration. A real nice slice of deep Tech House that you will not want to miss.

Soda intros with a nice crispy vibe as various hats and cymbals combine before a punchy kick takes over. Rich pads and strings take over on the first break and bring a beautiful atmospheric vibe which is backed up by a very cool singing vocal and a sinister deep spoken vocal. The track settles into a deep groover complete with a phat bassline that drives the track brilliantly. An expertly crafted slice of prog tech with wonderful contrasting vibes, a must have.

前作『Silent Of Light』に続きPROGRESSIVE FOrMよりリリース。

本作の特徴は何と言っても収録全10曲にちりばめられたボーカルやボイスの存在であろう。その意味ではGeskia初のボーカル・アプローチなアルバムとも言える。

フィールドレコーディングを始めとした多種多様なボイス素材の声や歌のフレーズを分解し、ピッチを様々にいじったものを再構築してオートチューンで歌わせるという手法を取っており、男性らしく聴こえる声も元は女性の声だったり、その逆もあり、楽曲を構成する楽器の一部として声に性別としての役割はもたせてはいないが、そこには強烈な存在感と魅惑的なメロディー・ラインが奏でられている。

アルバム全体としては、都会的な影の部分や現代的な響きは意識して取り入れており、個人的な憂いや倦怠感などの渇きを都市の生産的で肯定的な躍動感と対比させた部分、またそこから産まれるのはパーソナルな核になる孤独感と多幸感にスポットを当てて表現されています。

WARP、TriAngle Records、Young Turks、Modern Loveといったレーベルのエッセンスとシンクロする現在進行形の音楽に通じたテイストのリスナーにお薦め。

【アルバム全編を彩る、懐の広い音楽性】
デンジャー・マウスのプロデュースのもと、危険な匂いに満ちたオルタナ・ポップを聴かせる『Little Broken Hearts』を昨年リリースしたノラ・ジョーンズのCDは、いまだに「ジャズ」のコーナーに置かれていることだろう。それがレコード会社の戦略なのか、レコード・ショップの利便性の結果なのかはさておき、彼女のデビュー・アルバム『Come Away With Me』を知らない新しいリスナーにとって、彼女のCDの置き場所がまさか違うフロアであるとは思いもよらない。

そうすると、Geskia!のCDはどの棚で発見できるのだろうか? 総勢10人のMCと共演した2ndアルバム『President IDM』は、(そのトラックはヒップ・ホップのそれとはかなりかけ離れているが)おそらく世間一般ではヒップ・ホップに分類されるであろうし、2011年作の『Alien』ではエイフェックス・ツインばりに攻撃的なテクノを聴かせる。「人と違ったことをやる」という言葉を繰り返し強調し、アルバムを出すごとにカメレオンのごとくその姿を変貌させてきたGeskia!を形容する言葉は一言、「トラック・メイカー」としか言いようがない。
そして、新作『Silent Of Light』。それは、とりあえず「テクノ・エレクトロニカ」とラベリングされるかもしれないが、勇ましく、ドラマティックで、歓喜と恍惚に満ち溢れた「Accent Accept」は、そうした色眼鏡を軽々と超越していくかのようだ。2000年代以降のYellow Magic Orchestraのような、エレクトロニカを経由したテクノの持つシンプルネスと、無数に重ねられる音粒一つ一つのきめ細かさ。そうした魅力が、抽象柄の織物のようにアルバム全編を彩っている。それは、スロッビング・グリッスルやノイズ・ミュージックさえも愛好する懐の広い彼の音楽性が、長年の冒険を経たからこそ獲得した高純度の到達点なのである。(text by 青野慧志郎)

Cokiyu’s long-awaited single, 'Haku', is finally here! The title of this single, 'Haku', is actually a brand new demo song by cokiyu after her critically acclaimed 2nd album, “Your Thorn”. Started from'Haku', cokiyu then invited 3 of her favorite artists, namely Baths, Geskia! and LASTorder to collaborate using materials from 'Haku'. In this collaboration process, new ideas were born, new sounds were injected, new dimensions were created, and thus, 3 new songs were conceived.

'Twinkle Way' is a very charming duet with the popular artist Baths (anticon label) from United States, along with sweet beats and fluffy vocals. 'Pulsation' is the result of the beautiful collaboration with flau’s beats producer Geskia!, whose popularity in Japan has been rising rapidly. And the 19 years old young gun LASTorder (who is known for his collaboration with Shingo2) joined forces in the 3rd song, “Fluorite”, with some gorgeous and yet dramatic arrangement.

The single is completed with a 9-minutes epic remix by Kyoto’s most talented young beat-maker, Madegg, who recently released his debut album “Tempera” in flau label.
