◆『Different Direction』アルバム紹介

昨今多くのプロデューサーを輩出するロシアから、弱冠21歳の新世代エレクトロニック・プロデューサーDmitrii Erokhinによるソロ・プロジェクト《 Nu:Gravity 》の秀逸5thアルバム『Different Direction』が到着。

ボイス素材を元にした＜歌＞にフォーカスを当てたプロダクションを得意とし、美しく叙情的なダウンビートから、オーセンティックなヨーロピアン・テイストのシンセや生素材をも組み込んだアップテンポなクラブサウンドまで、Nu:Gravityのオリジナリティー感溢れたハイブリッドで魅惑的な音世界を展開している。

Massive Attack～Chemical BrothersといったビッグネームやWARP周辺からHyperdubの諸作品で一躍人気プロデューサーとなったBurialといったアーティスト達のエッセンスに感化された奥深く幅広いプロダクションは、本作を代表する 「Farewell」 「My City Is Tuapse」 タイトルトラックの「Different Directions」 を始めとした全曲で感じることが出来るが、何よりも21歳ながらにして細部に渡るツボを付いたバランスの良いサウンドデザインを表現する潜在的な懐深い才能に驚かされるばかりの逸材である。

Nu:Gravity

1994年生まれ。モスクワから南に約1,540km、北コーカサス西部に位置するクラスノダール地方の港湾都市トゥアプセを拠点として活動するロシアのエレクトロニック・プロデューサーDmitrii Erokhinによるソロ・プロジェクト《 Nu:Gravity 》。
2011年よりこれまでにUKのIMMINENTやEndless Plains Records、Koloa Recordsといったレーベルより4枚のアルバムと10枚のEPを出している。
Massive Attack～Portishead～よりダンス/ロックにフォーカスしたChemical BrothersといったビッグネームやWARPを始めとする多様なサウンドに影響を受けたというそのプロダクションは、エッジの効いたエレクトロニックビーツでありつつもヴォイスの構築に重きを置いた洗練されたリスニング・テクノに特徴がある注目の新世代プロデューサー。
