“Mori Summer” is a chilled down yet upbeat track that starts off the EP. This one would be a perfect fit in any respectable dj’s set (we don’t want to know about the unrespectable ones, we’ve got standards), either in the beginning, the end or as a bridge track. While the drums and the hi hats provide the foundation of the track and maintains a steady groove, the melody of the synth brings in that extra layer of warmth and serenity that can only put a big smile on your face while listening to this track.

Only thing left to do is go prepare yourself that negroni you’ve been dreaming about all week and put this track. “Think About it First” EP is scheduled for release in mid July on the Shall Not Fade Label. Don’t sleep on this one!

The second release in our series of Split EPs comes from Marcos Cabral & Daniel Araya and features two tracks from each artist. New York's Cabral is known for his experimental IDM and techno on labels like L.I.E.S. while Daniel Araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the Classicworks label and is well known for his outputs on Borft records or Kontra Musik. 

Araya's 'We Almost Lost Detroit' is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. Softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. 'Ghost Bass' is the other Araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. It's a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. 

'Live At The Egg' is Cabral's first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. After getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. 'Cuts & Bruises' rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. Muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. It’s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine EP.

The cold wind howled along the inside of the tunnel and she shuddered slightly beneath the strain of the chill. The mountain region was home to a flurry of short rocky pathways which went beneath the towering giants that loomed above. Carved into the rock these man made holes created an intricate crossing without the need for vertical climbing and exploration amidst the peaks. Outside the snow continued to fall heavily from the dark and gloomy skies...

Fina Records return with a fresh EP from Paso, an intriguing prospect which features originally crafted club tracks and an innovative take upon house music in the present day.

Every music lover feels a specific, even if sometimes undeserved, sense of achievement when they discover an obscure and underrated artist. So we were particularly stoked when we caught wind of France-based Marc Bianco. The little-known producer is about to again release an EP for French label Moonrise Hill Material – an imprint whose tracks we’ve premiered before – and the record is top quality. The five-tracker is made up of structurally diverse tracks that nevertheless unify under an aesthetic umbrella of sample-heavy, gritty and jazzy sounds.

Our premiere is the last and longest track on the record and probably our favourite, too, Harland Jam. Wonderfully fluent keys as well as splashy percussion staple this track, which you could imagine as the soundtrack for a hybrid jazz-house club. Perhaps it’s most impressive for it’s delicate balance of continuity and change: for the background-listener, the track could sound monotonous, but with a bit more attention the song’s dynamism and slow incline is clear. The track subtly picks up at around 2m30s, with energetic drum fills and keyboard jamming on top of the groovy three-chord progression that repeats throughout.

The record, called Serious Mass, will be the label’s ninth release. If you’re into modern and daring house records with an old-school feel, you’ll probably find it worth a purchase.
