Considering that YamYam only started DJing in 2022, she already has an impressive number of gigs and DJ mixes to show and moves light-footedly between different genre boundaries. As part of the Pavement Gum crew, she is actively involved in shaping the cultural periphery of our shared hometown, where politics and music meet on the dancefloor. For number 34 of the Ashtray Monuments series YamYam mixes broken beats with straight prog-house tracks and baile-esque breaks. Infused with dreamy vocal-chops, spherical pads and bleepy sounds YamYam creates a stringent mix, independent, varied and absolutely danceable. Thank you @dj_yamyam !

Mariyam is a DJ who recently moved to Hamburg. She made her debut as yamyam in the beginning of 2022. In the same year, she became part of the freshly founded, Hannover-based electronic music collective @pavement-gum and has been exploring the spectrum of electronic music, regularly reinventing her dynamic drive. Her sound moves between spherical patterns, stringent 4-to-the-floor motifs and baile-esque breaks.
