We are so excited to present to you our fourth mix in our sounds of SMUT mix series by the legendary Cáit.  As a resident of Radiant Love and co-founder of DIP, Cáit is a well established name amongst some of the most acclaimed parties across Ireland and Europe more widely.  
From Jigsaw to Sherkin Island to Cocktail D’Amore to a sold out Adonis last weekend, Cáit is one of the most exciting and engaging selectors gracing our dancefloors. To those that have seen Cáit play, we know words don’t do enough justice to the live experience of her sets. Cáit also co-runs Soulseekers Allowance  (an online music mix series) with her brother, Fionn. 

As well as her career in music, Cáit also pursues a creative practice in photography (having studied photography in university) and is currently stocked with Hang Tough gallery. 

Besides the creative talent, Cáit is also a really special friend of the press and we are so ecstatic to release this mid-summer mix to heat things up even further.

With so much identity being brought to the table with each track it feels wrong to label this a  remix E.P. Starting with the bones of Moray's Mind How You Go each track turns a unique corner from pumpy prog to warped out techno and everything in between. Its a real smorgasbord of electronic goodness to get lost in, so Mind How You Go !

SLR001 - Mind How You Go V.A - Snippets

Tooflez returns with their latest serving, the "Bass Control’’ remix LP, exploring the different dimensions in the multi-faceted universe of ELECTRO.

The original cut was cooked up by label head-chef ANDI A. Once upon a lock-down, when humans had only machines for company… a Juno 1, an old Yamaha groove box, a glitchy noisy synthesizer and a cheap microphone transpired ‘Bass Control’ into space and time. 

Never intended to be released, 3diz asked Andi A. for the stems one day, and the rest is h̴i̴s̴t̴o̴r̴y̴ the f u t u r e. 

ANDI A. delivers the original on the A1. Timeless electro with a dystopian air to it, perfectly fit for building energy and suspense. 

The first remix is from Indigo Plateaux, showcasing their distinctive sound, deconstructing the original to a peak-time technoizoid banger. 

The Detroit Electro veteran, DJ Di’jital, delivers a bass-heavy, deep dive into the underground; proving once again why no one does it like Detroit does it. 

On the B1. we have Viikatory dishing out saturated 808’s and snappy acid lines, spaced out arps and a distinctive echoing assurance. 

3diz pushes the bass into a distorted weighty nastiness, leaving nobody immune to the infections ‘bass face’ syndrome. 

And finally, the sophisticated production of Echowoman marries the spacey intergalactic sounds with warmer drum tones found on earth.

@jgrrey - Growing: This is my forever feel-good-summer-song. I like JGrrey‘s style so much, her smoky voice obviously and how she evolved in the past few years. She‘s an icon, tough, but her music is so soft, it’s a match made in heaven.

@plant43 - Remote Signal: This track is made for train riding, to look out and everything just looks beautiful while feeling the nostalgia. I love how the melodies wind around each other like a helix underpinned by the simple but heavy bass

@jess-palmer-183618461 - Bruk: JPEG is just fire, every track so far is a banger, definitely check out her music!

@y_u_qt - Abricot dub: Call me cheesy but I love ittt!! The melody is so melancholic that my heart almost bursts into pieces and yet the track is so strong in the baseline at the same time. These two are one of my favorite artists at the moment. Thanks to Emmi, I now also know the original by @feelmybicep - sooo qt!

@merca-bae - Morder: Ass-shake-alarm!! It’s too short and too good, so I always hear the track at least twice in a row. Shoutouts to Wilma, who showed me Merca bae. It's best to share my love for dembow, reggaeton and dancehall with her - I usually learn something interesting about the genres or we just dance together. Liebeee!

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

What sort of mindset were you in when you were creating this mix?

Emerging out of the darkness of winter my mood has been leaning towards mischievous. I’m ready to have a fun time and I’m not suggesting for anyone to go out and break the law, but if having fun was a crime, then the mood of this mix would definitely be “music to do crime to”. 

What setting/vibe do you want your listeners to be in when locking into this mix?

A good setting to lock into this would be a fast drive or bike ride down an empty street in the middle of a hazy night. Maybe you’re on your way to meet someone, maybe you just want to feel the rain on your face… the subby sounds would really hit on some car speakers though.

What genres have you found yourself gravitating towards lately?

I’ve always loved heavy sounds. Lately its been a lot of old-school dubstep and UK bass music for me. I’ve been coming across some incredible latin bass albums/labels as well - Sacrilejio Records  (Lima, Peru), WVWV (CDMX), INVT (Miami). I’m diving into the world of 140 bpm xD
