Staying in ‘The America’s’ for our next release, we head south, back to Buenos Aires, Argentina the South American nerve centre and heartbeat of Progressive House. 

There we are thrilled to welcome this next pair of artists to the onedotsixtwo family, Maximo Gambini & Q.A.T aka Leandro Maldonado.  These two very bright rising stars of the global progressive scene have been on fire of late with a string of remixes that have been getting regular plays on Hernan Cattaneo’s Resident show as well as his club and festival shows worldwide. This is their first original EP as a duo with both artists having had great success on labels such a Sound Avenue and One of a Kind. 

The lead track ‘Stochastic Process’ is a beautifully crafted melodic journey of sound that builds into a melancholic breakdown before the large drop, enough to make any dancefloor swing sideways. ‘One Sided Thoughts’ takes the path of a more hypnotic journey that weaves a softy gated vocal and smooth pads and effects with a whirring baseline that kicks like mule. 

On remix duties we welcome back long-time label afficionado Weird Sounding Dude who has applied his meticulous sound design to ‘Stochastic Process’ keeping true to the original whilst adding his signature sound, and Turkish artist Hakan Onuzur, who after a short musical hiatus is back in the studio, has a delivered an amazing interpretation of ‘One-Sided Thoughts’ showcasing to everyone, that he’s an artist who should be on your radar.

Already an iconic figure in the underground dance fraternity, Dmitry Molosh now takes another leap forward with the creation of his Proportion record label. Created as vehicle to showcase the Belarusian’s extraordinary talent alongside an array of high-profile and rising names, Proportion launches with an eponymously titled EP with an original track from Dmitry himself plus a remix from Finnish legend, Cid Inc.

Dmitry Molosh has presided over a stellar career path. Rising rapidly to global prominence from his Belarus home, Dmitry has witnessed a steep upwards trajectory where his music has reached out across nation boundaries, engaging listeners with a distinctive, powerful and forward-thinking sound. Over 500 production credits can thus be credited to the Dmitry Molosh name as he continues to find his musical talents in considerable demand. Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Gai Barone’s Afterglow, Nick Warren’s Hope and Cid Inc.’s Replug have all showcased the Belarusian’s distinctive sound, while US leviathan Proton Music has also featured an array of original and remix material. Supported by the DJ glitterati that include Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Khen, alongside the celebrated label heads, Dmitry Molosh now opens his account on Proportion.

The title track of the same name is a stunning affair. Redolent in the trademark characteristics that have made him such a sought-after producer, a chest-thumping kick anchors a glorious, head-shaking bass groove and woodblock percussion. Ticking hi-hats add to the collage as a beautifully imagined synth motif filters its way across the 8-minute piece. A further bassline adds weight and dynamism before a stripped back breakdown creates a gateway for a rousing crescendo of white-noise and pitched effects. These then pave the way for the sultry bassline cadence and synth line so prominent in the early stages, to work their magic once more in the second half.

Cid Inc. require little introduction to the underground dance faithful. A legendary figure for two decades, the Finnish star has been responsible for entertaining audiences around the world with his immaculately crafted DJ sets while creating some the finest moments in modern electronic music history. Seeing his work featured on legion luminary imprints that includes the likes Lost & Found, Einmusika JEE Productions and Sudbeat Music, the latter saw Dmitry Molosh & Cid Inc. join forces on August 2021’s “Impending Storm” to devastating effect. Cid Inc.’s own Replug label has also been a potent vehicle for his own music while furthering the musical careers of a plethora of other artists who have gone on to become dominant forces in the global dance music arena.

An esteemed music engineer and renowned producer, the Cid Inc. remix of “Proportion” is characterised by an intricate and dynamic percussive groove that propels the track forward. Accompanied by a hypnotic bassline sequence and similarly mesmerising arpeggio, melodic elements for the original ripple to the fore in a sublime atmospheric collage. Smooth pads and white-noise flourishes build before falling away to a spine-tingling drop, as the rhythmic and bassline foundation provide a club-friendly closing section.

Following the success of 'Falling', Deepwibe Underground welcomes Kamilo Sanclemente back to the label with 'Revenge of Jedi'. Released in January of this year, the Colombian's debut single for the label landed with resounding success. Written in conjunction with fellow countryman Arbey Gonzalez and remixed by artist of the moment Forty Cats, it's soulful vocals and emotive musicality resonated with progressive music fans. Following the success of August 2021's debut compilation series, and a first volume featuring six original tracks from a stellar cast of international talent, GMJ and Matter now return with a thoroughbred 10-track sequel in "Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 2".

Presenting a global dance party with artists from across the continents, from North and South America to Europe, Australasia and Asia, the second instalment of the "Meanwhile Excursions" series combines an array of established talent with up-and-coming nubreed artists who shine a bright light on the progressive house genre.

Opening with the deep bass groove of "Negev", Colombian star, Golan Zocher, and label head-honcho, GMJ, blend their talent with a delicate ambience that shimmers across its 8-minute time fame with textured pads and flowing soundscape. Mango Alley favourite, Forty Cats continues with the smooth sounds of "Mutualism" as hypnotic rhythms and bass groove propel things forwards, while Andrés Moris creates club-friendly force via "Owen's Dream". Full of emotive chords progressions and twinkling arpeggios, a pulsating bassline makes for a beautifully assured debut.

Redolent in intricate percussive groove and juxtaposed with sumptuous synth arrangement, Tonaco's "Setentrional" is a rhythmic tour de force that only pauses for breath at the beatless breakdown, while Dowden's first of two offerings is a typically impressive offering with "Halstatt" glittering via earworm motif that melds with freeform counterpoint sequence as it evolves through a flurry of white-noise fills and mesmerising presence.

A slow-burning jewel that combines strong rhythmic force with running bassline presence, "Retro" finds Ivan Aliaga showcasing an evolving melodic tapestry that waxes and wanes with ease, while "Misanthropy" is another rhythm-fuelled affair that demonstrates why NOIYSE PROJECT is a name currently on the lips of the progressive cognoscenti with his club-friendly groove and ear for melodic emotion. Moving forwards, the low-slung groove of EMPHI's "The Box" helps to generate a brooding wall of sound that builds in tension-filled phases that rise and fall in ever-evolving synth work and stereo-panned white-noise effects.

The second track from Dowden see him join forces with Meanwhile's other co-founder as the immaculate production credentials of Matter see beautiful piano phrases glitter across "York", fully exposed at the mid-point where reverb-drenched and delay-soaked chords vie for space with a dynamic rhythmic backdrop and ticking hi-hat percussion. Ending as it starts, smooth melodic patterns flow from the fingertips of Gorkiz and Distro in cascading layers of dreamy sonic passages that create a coruscating mosaic of sound atop the blistering rhythmic energy of "Staring at the Sun".

A 10-track trip through the sound of modern progressive house, "Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 2" is a journey to remember.
