Up to kick off 2021 in the most adequately frenzied, thoroughly corrosive fashion, DDS04 serves up a quintet of chrome-tanned, hi-velocity beats courtesy of Italian hardware fetishist Anna Funk Damage (previously heard on the likes of Mind Records, Lux Rec, Lazy Tapes and more) and Austrian-Hungarian outfit Dutch Courage - alias Superskin & Új Bála - each of whom step up to the plate to deliver an exquisitely ear-wormy slice of their deranged industrial gospel.

A-side starts off to the sound of AFD’s hard bouncin' "48 Hours Death" - a raw-cooked deluge of head-reducing EBM grit, flaring binary signals and Giallo-infused arpeggios out a blood-stained Suspirian tale. Fear for the deadly scalp hunters lurking in the club’s darkest nooks, they’ve just sniffed out your trail.

Brutal churner “Youssef” picks up the torch and pulls out the quake-inducing breaks without further ado, dressed out with languorous Orientalistic melodies and steely distortions tailored to bend mind by the dozens. Forged in the furnace, the full-out punk-minded “I Come From Fire” rounds off the side on a drum and bass-heavy note, drawing as much from 60s psych-garage as it does from 80s deconstructionist tape music.

Flip sides and here’s Budapest unit Dutch Courage taking the reins with the off-kilter treat “Hand Of The Sword” - navigating a weird zone of its own, floating astride post-apocalyptic Bristol bass, sliced-and-diced abstraction and overly textured yet equally bone-bruising riddims.

Wrapping up the journey with both force and serenity, “Neo-Soulmates” follows a similar path with its warped synth flexions and raucous machine cries making the rounds from one end of the spectrum to the other effortlessly, merging to give birth to something genetically contrasting from any contemporary. A most fitting finale to an EP that celebrates and encourages sonic bizarro in all its forms and manifestations.

Con este último trabajo de nuevo para Geometrik Records (el cuarto ya, ahora con nueva formación), Poupees Electriques nos sumergen en la electrónica industrial ambiental, repleta de atmósferas densas, ritmos pulsantes, con claros guiños al minimalismo y a la electrónica más primigenia. Electriques! es un recorrido de siete temas por los conceptos esenciales de la electricidad, en un retorno a sus orígenes: la experimentación, el inconformismo,… y por encima de todo, su visión iconoclasta del arte. Poupees Electriques abren una nueva puerta, una nueva posibilidad, un nuevo sonido; pero no el último, con la visión dadaísta de que “el mejor de los sistemas es por sistema no tener sistema” (Tristan Tzara), que les permite moverse entre distintos estilos exentos de prejuicios.  Pero además électriques! ha contado con la colaboración de grandes amigos de la escena electrónica  underground española, que han versionado los temas del disco original, y las ilustraciones de la diseñadora Le mocho. El segundo disco cuenta con las remezclas de clásicos veteranos como Esplendor Geométrico y Orfeón Gagarin, además de Abraxas, Other Properties, Microplex, Meatless y Proto 70.

Patrick Kunkel makes his debut on Sincopat with a release of Techno in capitals. The German talent presents three slices of the best European Techno in form of a clever and strong release, including also a delicate and convincing remix from San Francisco man, but Berliner now, Clint Stewart.

Evolution is a peak-time Techno track for the emotional raver. It offers a powerful opening to present the whole essence of the pack. Patrick goes straight to the rough rhythm in a masterpiece track where there’s no time to breathe. Clint Stewart introduces a different vision of this Evolution getting the perfect balance between deep and techno. The American guy renders a mature sound ordering the layers of the original track in a smart and special way.

Expedite is the second track but also a winner. Bass is the main and successful actor here with also heavy doses of a techy groove. The different treatment of voices is another hook of this bomb where music speaks louder than words. 

Open Circuit provides a raw energy in a constantly crescendo. The track's sections are joined by subtle 303 modulation making it as captivating as it is unpredictable. This one will make it for all the 4x4 lovers. Patrick re-visited the track forgetting the beat and creating a solid twist of an electronic music piece.
