This week we welcome a new guest to our mix series who's provided us one of the most tastefully curated sets we've heard yet.  

Ripplefactor is a well known Deep Techno artist based in Melbourne. He is a resident of Savage Art Productions and Red Moon Tribe. Savage is a collective focusing on promoting all kinds of arts with Techno as its catalyst. Red Moon Tribe needs no introduction within Australia. With the most diverse style of artists as their residents, the tribe is known for their infamous takeovers, warehouse raves and regular sold out nights at MyAeon.


With his exposure to deep, experimental, left field genres of Techno, Ripplefactor creates a special mix for Proxima Frequencies featuring a wide array of vibrant and hypnotising sounds. Exploring the genre in depth, he introduces his listeners to soundscapes that truly represent the ethos of underground techno.

Intercept #34 - Ripplefactor

This weeks mix is very special for us, as it comes from a guy who was a massive driving force behind the inception of Proxima Frequencies. Having nurtured the talent of our collective and giving us a platform via Feather Print Records and the family, we're honoured to be able to give the same back to him.


Hugoe was born the youngest of three musicians.. So naturally, from an early age, music was a huge passion.

Since Hugoe discovered his love for electronic and dance music, he has traveled the extensively exploring ambient and natural landscapes to gather inspiration to create a soft and earthy atmosphere with his music, taking samples from environments he perceives inspirational to create the sound the that is Hugoe.
While living in Japan, Hugoe held residencies at multiple clubs, and played over 10 venues across Asia where he developed a liking for the heavier side of melodic house and techno music and began exploring a faster and darker sound which he nowadays seamlessly incorporates into his DJ Style, which is showcased in this mix. 

Another on the list of achievements for Hugoe, he reps the title of co-founder of Melbourne melodic house & techno label Feather Print Records, which strongly follows the ethos of backing local talent. 

Through years of chipping away at his craft, his talents haven't gone unnoticed and Hugoe has had the opportunity to support big names both on home turf in Melbourne and internationally, backing such names as Secret Cinema, Schlepp Geist, Loco & Jam, Takkyu Ishino, Francessca Lombardo, Shin Nishimura, Sander Markey, Sahar Z, D-Nox and others.

Born and based in Melbourne, Delicorice is a new face in Melbourne’s music scene. 
After recently scoring himself a residency at Belgraves Sooki Saturdays, he's quickly found himself playing peak time main room slots with some very fresh new takes on the genre of house music.
Dean has been working hard on perfecting his craft, and we're hyped to have it displayed here,

JEFFERS is a Dj that can't be labelled to one genre, diving deep into multiple genres.
His aim is to take listeners on a unique ride through seductive, grooving and deep soundscapes. His sets are anything but predictable, keeping his selections and blending precise, ensuring the dancefloor is engaged and on their toes!

Fairly new to scene as an Artist but not as a punter,  His been playing out locally in in his hometown of Melbourne with some highlight gigs at New Guernica, The Industrique, My Aeon, The Third Day and Bloom with a bunch more on the Horizon.

"i went into this mix with the intention of building from Deep and Minimal Techno  into some progressive and tension building tracks and finishing with some driving Techno. I wanted to make a mix that would get listeners moving. And i hope that resonates in this mix!"

Intercept #43 - JEFFERS

This we are absolutely stoked to welcome 'The Fields'.  A highly regarded name in the dance scene and boy, they did not disappoint with this classy mix.

Dajana and Andre came together musically in Berlin in 2016, merging both their inner sounds into one concept - The Fields. They focus on emotive blurred versions of deep house and techno with the vision to create a unique and seamless style that engages and moves with the crowd.

After moving back to Dajana’s home Melbourne, they immersed themselves in the scene and over the years were fortunate enough to play at almost all major clubs, local festivals such as Esoteric, The Comfort Zone and Elysium as well as internationally at CRSSD Festival in the USA.

In 2017, they co-founded Who Loves? - an event that joins the atmosphere of a festival with the intimacy of a club experience. Through nurturing quality on every aspect and hosting incredible local talents, it has developed a reputation amongst the underground scene that they are deeply proud of.

Alongside this, The Fields ran a weekly radio show on KissFm frequently inviting local and international guests for interviews and sets, allowing them to learn about the artists behind the music all whilst connecting with listeners around the country.

Most recently, they have returned to Berlin, but their deep connection to both cities is something they always want to reflect and showcase through their music.

Intercept #45 - The Fields

This week we are absolutely stoked to welcome The Oddness for this week's episode of interceptions. A name that is thrown around both Australia and across the globe. 

The Oddness is the project of Melbourne producer and performer Warwick Ferguson.The sound of the Oddness is Downtempo yet energetic, with punchy tribal drums and huge bass lines wrapped around the long slow burning structures of progressive house.
The Oddness Launched his live set in 2018 and has since performed at some of Australia’s premium festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Let Them Eat Cake and ChiWowWah Town. The set is full of improvisation and can go anywhere from laid back and melancholy through to a chunky, driving gut punch. 
Recently he has been joined by Multi Instrumentalists Dylan Jarred and Timmus, performing as a 3-piece band.
His first release came in early 2018 on Uone’s label Beat & Path with a huge remix from Electronic music legend Adam Freeland, quickly followed his debut album ‘Culmination’ on Griff’s new imprint Corymbia Recordings.
2019/20 saw a string of releases and remixes for labels Pipe & Pochet, SolSelectas, Shango Records, LNDKHN and Sofa Beats, as well as remixing Satin Jackets huge hit Automatic for Eskimo Recordings. 
A European tour was booked for 2020 including Boom, Noisily and Vibronica festivals, but was cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation. This led to some serious studio time culminating in his second album ‘Observations as a Stranger’ out now on Beat & Path.
In 2021, the Oddness continued to flourish, with countless new releases through labels such as Copycow, Bedrock records and The Magic Movement, just to name a few…

We have been very much looking forward to having the Oddness be a part of our catalogue here at interceptions. So please enjoy this masterpiece of a mix, we hope it gets you grooving as much as it did for us!

Intercept #46 - The Oddness

Number 47 brings us someone that had only been a matter of time until he placed himself here within our catalogue, Dan Abel.

Dan has been a staple in Melbourne's music industry for some time now.
With a love of the industry beginning at his first time attending Rainbow Serpent Festival.
Seeing the effect that facilitating such an experience can have on the individual, he had found himself only wanting to contribute to that as much as he could and do what he can to give back to the industry.
Given back would be an understatement at this point.

Having Co-founded a number of well respected platforms/collectives that are an impeccable display of contribution towards Australia's home-grown, world renowned dance music scene.
Co-Running and long time resident of the events and community creating Red Moon Tribe, There Dan has Co-Founded their very popular event "Renegade" featuring Red Moons high class line up of residents, a night that has quickly become one not to miss.
Co-Founding "Live Presents", A night dedicated to a Live/Hybrid electronic music
Co-Founding SixthSense, A fast rising multimedia platform servicing the psychedelic subculture while aiming to subtly evoke all of one's 5 senses through their events.

With outstanding selections across all of his sets, featuring a vast variety of genre's including Minimal House, Deep Tech, Psytech, Progressive Techno, Deep Hypnotic Techno, Dark Disco and more..
Dan has quickly found himself playing at some very reputable venue's and events, My Aeon, Revolver Upstairs, New Guernica, Esoteric Festival, Rabbits Eat Lettuce And Burning Seed.

Intercept #47 - Dan Abel

Peter & David form Common Tribe - a Techno driven duo hailing from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. 

Both growing up with musical experience in their own unique way, these two artists and long highschool friends have come together to bring forth a definition of Techno in their own right, through original work and mixing other artists released and unreleased music.

Common Tribe have released two originals in their debut year, The Warlock on Mercurial Tones, and Transcend on Neele Records. Common Tribe's debut EP will be released next year in April, with release information TBA.

Intercept #48 - Common Tribe

This week we are honored to welcome 'COOkie' on for our 50th edition of intercepts. A well known name in the Australian dance scene as both an artist and event organiser.  

COOKie (Andrew Cook) has been in and around the Melbourne dance music scene for just under 20 years. As a DJ he has performed at almost all major clubs still standing and also played at many outdoor events and festivals with the highlights being Afrikaburn and Rainbow Serpent Festival. COOKie now runs Morning After Agency, which has just celebrated it’s 5th year of touring & representing Domestic & International artists as well as running club and outdoor events Including the annual event The Enchanted Garden Party.
2021 looks to be promising year for COOKie and Morning After with the launch of a multi day camping festival scheduled for April called Interstellar Groove Festival.

We love what COOkie and the Morning After crew are doing for the Australian dance scene and we can't wait to work with them in the future.

Intercept #50 - COOKie

Holding over 10 years of experience under his belt, Bongani is a staple name in the Australian progressive tech scene. 

His accomplishments have spread far and wide on many levels, proven as a wizard behind the decks, in the studio & as A&R for arguably one of Australia's largest techno labels - Recovery Collective.

Having graced the stage at Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Subsonic and Esoteric Festival - it's likely you'll have caught wind of his driving peak-time sets, ebbing and flowing between huge melodic numbers and more stripped back psychedelic cuts. 

We're pumped to have a don of the scene providing us with the latest episode of Interceptions & hope you dig it as much as we did!

Intercept #52 - Bongani

There is a distinct niche in the void of electronica between raging techno and the delicate flower of groove that is tech house. A gaping chasm rarely filled with the inter genre specialisation required to progress an evening. The ability to cast a fruitful sunset of dance and cocktails toward a jaw clenching, foot stomping, session pit of destruction. 

BANDO, the solo alias of up-and-coming artist Bailey Andersen, aims to fill that void in the night and redirect the fractured souls of the punter by weaving darkness into the light. BANDO’s sets and productions range from minimal and progressive to bassline heavy Brazilian and Bush influenced techno.

BANDO’s productions and sets have been gaining significant traction in the Australian underground scene in recent years and he’s now divulging into the diverse cosmos that is international electronic music. An artist to many labels, a host to many notorious parties and a performer to numerous, infamous events.

For our 54th edition we welcome on board one of Melbourne's most hyped musical talents in the dance scene, MARSH LONG. Mostly known for her dark driving beats that have energised the most iconic clubs in Melbourne, MARSH LONG has pared it back for this mix expressing her love for a range of genres including electro, house, tech house, breaks, progressive and trance showing a different side to what many of us may know her for. 
MARSH LONG's Revs sets are her personal career highlights which lead to the chance of sharing the decks with Spacey Space who is like a father figure to her, bringing tears to her eyes expressing her deep passion for dance music and the inspiration and love that comes from it.
Her confidence has been elevated to a new level since she hard started performing for Hardware Group leading MARSH LONG to express her music unapologetically and you can catch her bringing that energy this weekend playing for Melbourne Techno Collective and Eat The Beat! She will also be hosting her own weekly show for Area 3000 Radio starting in June where she aims to shed light on underground artists who deserve to be in the spotlight for their talent.

Intercept #54 - MARSH LONG

This weeks Intercept mix has been recorded live at Sooki Lounge during one of our own Proxima Frequencies curators & founders Connor Mac's warm-up set for Berlin based Emanuel Satie at Sooki Saturday's 6th birthday.

Connor Mac is one of the longest standing residents at Sooki Lounge, having soundtracked evenings at Belgrave's house & techno landmark for the last 8 years. Outside of Sooki Lounge, his near decade-long stint behind the wheels has seen him play at some of Victoria's finest establishments such as Revolver Upstairs, My Aeon & XE54 where he's been given the opportunity to warm up for international heavyweights such as Quivver, Renier Zonneveld, Jeremy Olander, Sebastien Leger, Kasper Koman & countless others. 

Outside of the club circuit, Connor has also made his footprint on Victoria's festival circuit, having recently played at Interstellar Groove Frestival - as well as Rainbow Serpent Festival, Earthcore, Babylon & The Comfort Zone.

This mix falls outside of what you may be used to from Connor, as he has steered away from his deep and progressive house sounds typified in his productions and opted for a boppy & club moving minimal house set. Whatever it is he's dishing up, we hope you enjoy it!

This week we again return to one of our founders, Joonmack.
Joon has come a long way since the beginning of Proxima, diving deep into his productions and rounding off skills in as many creative avenues as possible.
With recent releases on frisson records, digital diamonds and some very cool, yet to be announced releases coming later this year... Jack is soon sure to be considered one of the many cornerstones of Melbourne's underground.

This week we welcome back Astro Pleasure, an aspiring astronaut from Melbourne’s south east and is currently recruiting crew members to join him on an expedition to space.

AP, the alias of Brodie Hayward is a long time friend of the Proxima community and has had the “pleasure” of being a part of their success so far.

 He draws inspiration from all walks of life and many diverse oddities of music.   AP has explored many different genres and has a versatile musical background under his belt but mainly produces prog and techno. Which offers a truly pleasurable listening experience to those who are lovers of dance music.

Equipped with a whole bunch of world class unreleased tunes as well as an inventory of tastefully picked tunes to suit his uniquely raw blend of melodic yet driving progressive techno, AP will be sure to make you feel something throughout a set.
 
Although talented, Brodie is constantly improving. We don't think it will be much longer until we see him slamming a dusty dance floor at your favourite bush doof and for us at Proxima, we can't wait.

Intercept #57 - Astro Pleasure

Hvitserk & Tura have a special connection that has been strengthening for many years, so it was about time they jumped behind the decks together at a bush doof. Sharing similar tastes in electronic music from organic/afro house to melodic techno, these 2 have a flow that blends perfectly while shifting energies at unpredictable times, and a sound particularly suited for an outdoor party in nature. 
This set was recorded live at Proxima Frequencies' third  Bangboza doof in January 2022 in what lead to a downpour of heavy rain mid-set that helped build the energy on the dancefloor along with the music and the vibes.

Dark Mode's other-worldly appearance has a profound effect on humans. Looking into the eyes of a masked creature from another realm is not like looking at a regular DJ or performer. Liam has spent a number of years in the studio making his unique style of electronic music. This has seen him collaborate with a number of artists and releases on some of the best progressive and melodic labels the world has to offer (The Soundgarden, Mango Alley, OneDotSixTwo, Soundteller Records and many more) his music has breached the international circuit being played across international radio waves consistently through 21/22

Blending genres from low deep grooves all the way up to progressive techno with his own creative twist. Let Liam take you on an emotive journey into the unknown sounds of electronic music.

If you’re well-versed in underground and eccentric music then you’ve probably heard of Wheezy. If not, then you need to. No stranger to the scene, his passion for tactful tune selecting has quickly lead him to be a local favourite around Melbourne. 

Originally from Eltham, he has been growing his following since he started out matching beats 3 years ago, with his favourite genres being hard tech, psy tech and groovy bass house. His unconventional mixing style has got him noticed by crowds and promotors alike, whether it’s weaving unsuspected acapellas into heavy basslines or teasing the audience with sexy, seamless transitions from one genre to another.

Wheezy’s steeze has landed him gigs for some of Victoria’s biggest names, venues and festivals including Pitch Music & Arts, Proxima Freqencies, Pelican Villa, My Aeon, 303, Pawn & Co and a bunch of outdoor parties with many to come.

For more than 15 years, James Beetham has been pursuing a unique blend of progressive house, breaks and techno as a DJ, producer, radio host, and label-owner.

With a lifelong love of progressive electronic music underpinning everything he does, James’ ability to connect with an audience has seen him perform to dancefloors across Australia, championing his sound and skills at iconic festivals, clubs, and warehouse parties.

James’ studio original productions and remixes have received widespread support from industry giants such as Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa, Jamie Stevens, Subandrio, Bog, and Maceo Plex - while artists such as Robert Babicz, Ewan Rill, and Loco & Jam have remixed his work.

As co-owner and manager of the globally recognised progressive house label Late Night Music – as well as managing the electronica focussed CTL ALT TRIP Records, and A&R for Australian label Bunyip Records - James shows true passion for connecting with like-minded artists in Australia and abroad.

His ear for sound sees James working professionally as an engineer at Jack The Bear studios - one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most well-regarded audio workshops - helping artists to perfect their mix and achieve their musical vision in the studio.

With his deep knowledge of music and dancefloor programming, James has graced festival stages and nightclub booths across the country, including Subsonic, Elements, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Burning Seed, and Electric Gardens. He’s played support shows for artists such as Robert Babicz, Sebastian Leger, Dubfire, Henry Saiz, Nick Curly and more.

James has more than a decade of continuous radio experience including a weekly headline show on Melbourne’s iconic Kiss FM. He now presents the monthly Friction on Proton Radio to an international audience of dancefloor devotees.

In 2022, James released his second EP ‘Silicon’, with remixes from Dmitry Molosh & Golan Zocher, while his collaboration ‘Zenticle’ with fellow Melbourne artist Liam Sieker saw huge support from industry and music fans around the world including remixes from Robert Babicz and Ewan Rill.

Our next guest invited to provide a mix for our Interceptions series is none other than Tura. 

Presenting intercept #11, Tura has been sharing her melodic and progressive curations with the world for just over a year now - and in such a short time this girl has really mastered how to get it done. 

You may have been lucky enough to catch her playing at My Aeon alongside our close friends at the Red Moon crew, or perhaps you've just caught her loving every second of a raging dance floor. 
Tura is in her element on both sides of the decks, whether it be warming up the evening with her tasteful melodic house & techno sets or hugging those next to her soaking up every bit of 3am magic.

Intercept #13 - Campbell Silver

For our next edition of Interceptions we give a big warm welcome to local deep techno pioneers, fütwerk.
fütwerk have made their mark in Melbourne’s dance music scene not only from their impeccable DJ skills and crowd engagement, but also from their involvement in running their own parties under EQUINOX events and :affinity. 
Displaying their personalities through their music is one of fütwerks noticeable features when it comes to performances, known for bringing high energy levels to a crowd with hypnotic and pulsating rhythms combined with a deep spiritual and often organic essence. 
Playing a big role in the movement of the Deep techno genre in Melbourne, fütwerk look to expand the scene as they direct their knowledge and talents into the producing world as well as having toured and supported international artists Deepbass, Etapp Kyle and Matrixmann, and performed at  Rainbow Serpent, Burning Seed and Wildwood.

This week brings us another very special artist to the interceptions catalogue, Josh Kerr.
Josh has brought about a lot of change in Melbourne's music scene over the last few years, with an initiative such as Black Syndicate under his belt and the events held with in it, the change is easily describable as a positive and progressive step forward.
One of the events in question was the Bushfire Appeal Day Party held in Williamstown at the beginning of this year that raised over $188,000 for the Black Summer Bushfires that devastated Australia's east coast during the summer of 2019-2020.
Every week here our guests step it up another notch with their talent and this lovely fella hasn't held back on doing just that, with deep bass lines, warm melodic melodies and lush vocals the sounds in this mix are nothing short of sublime.

Intercept #15 - Josh Kerr

If you’re from the Northside of Melbourne or have ever had the chance to party out that side of town - there’s a fair chance you know our boy Dark Design.
A fly on the wall at some of Melbourne’s finer establishments, Darcy is as full of life as he is of yarns - you’ll know this if you’ve managed to be on the receiving end of one of his 3am smokers chats. 
Naturally, you can only spend so long frequenting and embracing our cities nightlife before you start to involve yourself - and Darcy has done so in spectacular fashion.
If you’ve ever managed to catch one of Darcy’s sets, there’s a fair chance you’ve heard some of his signature mooged out original productions. With just under 2 years under his belt, Darcy has driven to better himself in the studio with an admirable intensity and you can certainly hear this in his class productions. We’re honoured to have the chance to premier a 100% original mix from the big lover boy at Proxima Frequencies, full to the brim with both released and unreleased original tracks and some remixes. 
This set is full of sounds inspired by Australia’s festival scene, and in current times - we think this is just about as close as you’re gonna get to the real thing. So grab a beer, get outside, enjoy the sun and let Darcy’s work take you to a better place.

Intercept #17 - Dark Design (All Original Mix)

Today we are proud to be bringing you a fresh and friendly face to the Melbourne music scene; Panthaera.

With the beginning of a season of lockdowns and social isolation we saw an unfortunate suppression of Melbourne's beloved live music and the events held with in. 
These unfortunate times has made it clear that our scene here in Melbourne has an exceptionally strong community with in it, and has only grown stronger over the course of the last 8 months.
But as with the prevalent strengthening of the community we have started to see this suppression give rise to a new generation of creative expression to share with us their unique take on what we all enjoy so much. 
Panthaera is a perfect example of this.
She has been a staple of said community for a long time and is no stranger to a good yarn and a dusty dancefloor 
So at the beginning of our lockdown period she began to share with us a sound that outlines herself as an artist, and it's been nothing short of a spectacle!

Intercept #19 - Panthaera

Next up, We welcome Heavy Footer for the latest edition of our mix series.
Heavy Footer has been someone we've had in mind to book since the inception of Proxima Frequencies. 
Unrestricted or bound by genre, Heavy Footer's unique take to DJing has found her teamed up with the Pelican Villa crew, having provided their dance floors with everything from silky dnb selections to deep and dirty club cuts. 
We really didn't know what to expect when she provided us with this piece, all we really knew was that it would be truly special. 

With a love for powerful basslines, ethnic instruments and long musical journeys, Heavy Footer enjoys taking her listeners through a spectrum of genres. 
Originally from the UK, she made her name playing around Melbourne's underground scene of clubs and festivals. 
This 2 hour mix, consisting of deep and melodic house, is inspired by the wild and unpredictable forces of nature - forests, mountains, deserts, the stars...

Intercept #20 - Heavy Footer

Number 25 brings us a very special friend of ours that needs almost no introduction - Ebony Willis

If you'd been out clubbing in the last few years while Melbourne was in full swing then you no doubt will have heard of this lovely lady.
With Deep, Dark, Driving bass lines coupled with seductively luscious melodies, the atmosphere she creates is nothing short of incredible.
Ebony presents herself up to the decks with an energy of positivity and intent to connect with the crowd, this energy has made quite the statement across Melbourne over the last couple of years, and has become an infatuating experience that leaves the listener craving more.

2020 opened up with a stellar spot on Ugenius Music with Nyctophilia, attaining a desirable 8th spot on Beatport’s Melodic House and Techno Releases Chart, while she took on remix duties for Mittens’ ‘Dreamscapes’ shortly after. Just prior her addition to the well renowned Recovery Collective ‘Alliance’ compilation featured her track ‘Deep Within My Mind’, alongside fellow Melbourne artists Bongani, Jydn and more. Embracing a cosmically-driven taste for techno, Ebony is truly celebrated down south and beyond as one of the scene’s burgeoning producers.

We're super thankful to have Eb be a part of what we've got going here, and very much look forward to what she has upcoming for us in the future!

ORCA has been slamming her way through a huge amount of podcast series spread out across the world and it was only a matter of time until she found herself here on Proxima.
Displaying a vast variety of progressive psychedelic elements layered over fast paced pulsating bass lines ORCA doesn't hold back when it comes to keeping the energy alive and pumping.
This trait doesn't only remain behind the decks, as she would have to be one of the most passionate and supportive members of Melbourne's scene at the moment.
Today's mix is comprised of some exceptionally tasteful selections of peak time techno, another incredible installment to the interceptions catalogue.

Joon is quickly becoming a "Jack of all trades" amongst us here at Proxima.
Handling our digital art, bookings, stage and lighting design as well as slowly pushing his way into the psychedelic world of techno as an artist.

With an obsession for production quality and it's synergy with the sensory experience of being human, Jack has found himself producing more and more of the deep, dark and mind melting sounds that you find with in psychedelic genres.
Consciousness is at the forefront of our experience, it's something about these unusual, alien sounds that reminds us that this music is pure thought and creativity from each producers mind.
These sounds are unmatched in the natural world, thus a direct stream of consciousness into an audible experience.

This episode brings you Joonmack's set from Bangboza; Our Australia day event held up on the waters edge of Lake Eildon.
Bangboza started with us bringing speakers and decks camping and eventually came to a head at the start of this year when we pulled together an amazing crew and really put our minds to making it something special.
While Bangboza may never be repeated in the way that it was at the start of the year we're definitely looking forward to more events of the like, and most importantly we're looking forward to having you there too!
