Nik Matern is an electronic music producer and dj, founder of Plankton Repellent label, pioneer of dark minimal genre. He is known under various aliases, each devoted to a different genre. Planctophob is one of Matern's main projects, which was created in 2012. According to the main idea, "Planctophob" is a person who's only fear is becoming an aimlessly, desultory existing part of drifting mass. Planctophob is not just a separate person. It's a form of thinking, a manifestation of will and awareness, an instrument of conscious intention. Being Planctophob means avoiding the pointlessness of existing.

The Rotating LP is Planctophob’s new musical offering, which consists of 11 interconnection tracks. Each track is inspired by a distinct main belt asteroid and is designed to be enjoyed individually or merged flawlessly with the adjacent tracks. Beginning with ambient tones, the album transitions into Planctophob's distinctive dark minimal sound before evolving into a dynamic fusion of deep and fast techno melodies.
The album's theme is a poetic exploration of the cosmos, where the asteroid belt serves as a symbol of the relentless rhythm that pervades the universe. Every asteroid, a microscopic reminder of cosmic creation, carries with it a saga of chaos and order, of fiery genesis and silent dissolution. Their gravitational ballet is a testament to the intricate patterns that underpin the fabric of space-time — a fractal dance of circles within circles.

Planctophob masterfully translates these cosmic musings into a sonic voyage, representing the asteroids' orbits as the cyclical pursuit of understanding.
